It is *_necessary_* to have negative thoughts and emotions. Trying to suppress them is what psychologists call "toxic positivity", and it is destructive. The moral point is that you need to be very careful to *_express_* the negative thoughts and emotions in the right way to not cause harm.

I am a witch and I learned folk magic from the women of my family. Catholic folk magic from south Europe. When I left my country, I was told by pagans I met that I couldn't be a witch because I wasn't pagan. Oh, well... Tell that to many Catholic folk witches. I hate when people tell you what you should or shouldn't be or do. My practice has changed a lot throughout the years, but something hasn't, I don't feel like worshipping other gods, and that doesn't make my practice invalid.

I like agree with you we have a VERY similar path. I started with Wicca 14 years ago but due to my ex husband I was in the closet and pulled away or tried to but it just is who I am and I came back and now many years later I've grown on evolved as you have. Blessed Be 😊

I find Wicca too much like a standard religion, and if I wanted rules, hierarchy and being told off I'd go to a regular church. I totally believe in following your own true, authentic path. For some of us, having no structure at all is too intimidating. I'm still trying to decide whether I want to be Wiccan, but I think I will ultimately choose it because I need the structure, I don't want to make my own

Wicca is definitely not for everyone that is very true! A lot of people don’t like the structure, though I would say it’s not likely anyone would be told off or anything of that sort (at least not in a larger sense, individual people or groups might be unkind but that’s a reflection of them and not Wicca) Blessed be and thank you xxx

Just getting around to this video, but thank you so much for talking about religious guilt!!! That’s a big reason why I left the Christian church to pursue my current path. I personally view the 3-fold law through the lens of justice. If my anger or negatively charged motives are justified, I see no problem with fighting back against something or someone. It’s the difference between defense, and defensive offense, if that makes sense. 💚

Elle As it suggests wicca and the wiccan rede is a wiccan based practice. If you are not wiccan it does not apply. Like traditional witchcraft dont nessisarily follow it. They also do things on the dark side aswell asthe white side. Like hexes and curses and other things too.

i don´t think i´ve ever felt guilty in my actual practice.. i´m more of a nature witch and guilt is not a common feeling when you interact with nature.. sometimes i´ve disturbed animals, or wandered in wrong places.. that´s probably the extent of that particular emotion for me, it´s always very momentary, not anything that would keep you up at night.. in general moral guidelines seem to fit poorly with nature based religions.. if you study folk beliefs people didn´t really think in those terms.. they were much more practical, or like you said, practical and animistic.. because you can still be considerate.. you can warn the spirit of the flower before taking it. i sometimes smile when "new agers" start to talk about love or higher love.. nature (they say universe) doesn´t love you, if she can she will burn you to crisp, dry up all your water, freeze you to a popsicle, she is very tough like that.. it´s tough love if anything :) so definately create your own rules, or better yet just go with your gut, it´s really the only voice you can trust.. how could anyone else know better? it´s not wise to create "common rules" for individual beings.. even animals act in individual ways when you study them closely, even "simple" beings like ants.. it´s so ridicilous.

also i´m not saying that there´s no rules.. there´s so many invisible rules.. just that you can´t really find them in books, not easily anyway. for example most animals avoid violence, because they don´t have any emergency centers to fall back to.. so if you get hurt badly you´re done, it´s over for you. to me something like that could be the rules of real nature religions (wicca´s more like new age to me, those guys probably rarely left the cabin, which is ok too, just not what happens in nature). so instead of "harm none" it would probably sound something like "don´t harm anyone you can´t eat" or "avoid those who can take / eat you". natural behaviour really (vs. unnatural / unrealistic).

My understanding of the rede: The threefold law is more about what we send out from us, now what is in us already. It says «what ye sends forth» is what «comes back to thee», not what you have. It already is there, how can it return when it has not left? 😹 The «an ye harm none do what ye will» is the same as «Do to others as you want them to do to you», which is a rule of moral and ethic in life, more than a magical rule, but since magic is a part of our life, it is relevant in our magic ☺️
