In today’s video I’ve looked back to all the things my parents said to me when I was a child and I was being naughty or got into a fight or even forgot to clean my room. Welsh parents have always use some interesting phrases. So if you want to know when a parent would say ‘Crying? I’ll give you something to cry about!’, what ‘council pop’ is or why every parent in Wales knows someone famous then you’ll find this video interesting.
If you remember any interesting phrases your parents or a friends parents used to say then why not let us know about them in the comments below.

Having a Welsh mother, this is very accurate 😂 She also claims to have known Ryan Giggs as a child.

Those sayings are used in Somerset too, plus we roll our R's so that ear, year and here all sound the same😂😂 I've heard about council pop too though where I grew up we were on a private spring so none of that added flouride 🤢

Jason, do you do a breakdown of the welsh song " YMA HYD" like you do for people learning as thanks to you I learnt the welsh national anthem in 1 month and I sang this when wales played ukraine for a friendly at cardiff stadium, as I had pitchside tickets that day and"I sang it loud and proud" even though I am english, and I would like to do the same for this song.

Hi! I’m happy to do a breakdown of Yma o hyd. It’s a beautiful song. I’ll try recording it but as it’s a copyrighted song there may be problems in bringing it out on KZbin . I will try though.

I grew up near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire (live in Aberystwyth now), and I heard "council pop", "looks like a bomb's hit it" and "I don't care who started it, I'm finishing it!" many times in my childhood. Most of the others I've come across before now, but "chopsin" was new to me.
