I've put in my contacts to find my glasses before. Sometimes, I call my mom or brother to help me look. My most effective method is making my room as dark as possible and using my phone as a flashlight and searching for a glint of the light on the frames (I've never had plastic frames, but I'm pretty positive it won't glint if yours are plastic). Also, who leaves their house without their glasses/contacts. Having blurry vision and trying to focus gives me a headache. It's 50% of the reason I even wear glasses, the other half is because I can't freaking SEE.

if you are looking for your glasses make a small hole with your thumb and index finger and put it up to your eye with one eye closed you will see a clearer image but still blurry

So if I flick my blanket too high or knock them off while I get my phone, I have to spend 15 minutes looking in the gap between my bed and the wall. TL;DR: people knock their glasses off of places and with some floorings and frames it's really hard to find them
