Many people refer to the states as: "A third world country in a Gucci belt." And for many things, this seems to be true. Now the states for sure has some incredible achievements, but I do think society-wise, quality of life, safety, etc. Europe beats the US by a landslide.

Yeah but it is sad so I'm always thinking of ways how the US can catch up. Problem is, when you never travel outside of the US (not saying no one in the US visits other countries btw) you don't know the real difference in how daily life feels in other places. Then another problem is that many USians don't think they are doing worse, when I show them rankings they say ''statistics don't matter'' and when I point out other factors, it's always dismissed. Propaganda is bad, and thankfully I have surrounded myself with sane US friends now, who genuinely see the issues- and actively try to improve their country. Hats off for those brave people c:

That is why Americans voted for a fascist. But by doing that it will only getting worse and more than they realize. Trump is a bilionaire fascist taking care of his buddies

@@letheas6175I couldn't agree more. And same here, I have several friends from the US who all see their country through a realistic lense. But to be fair, all of those USA'ans have traveled abroad. The US has some of the most beautiful nature and its people can genuinely be so nice, unfortunately their society is crumbling, there's no unity.

😂😂😂 3rd world countries don’t have police on their school compounds and no kids getting arrested while at school, none in Asia, none in Africa. Again no cops at schools in Europe! Kids ride bikes and walk to school! It’s not only the schools that are different but the social interactions with cops as well. In UK and many English speaking African countries the bobby-on- the-beat(cops) don’t even carry weapons on the streets unless on special missions let alone cops gunning down unarmed citizens because they’re afraid of their lives! In mostly French speaking countries all over the world laws are much more respected. Whether there is traffic or not people wait until traffic lights turn Green before they cross the streets. Cops used to deliver warrants( called convocations in French) in letterboxes and at doorsteps and leave. Until recently citizens are expected to report/present themselves at the police station when invited for investigation, they weren’t automatically arrested! Anyway of recent societies are gradually changing not for the better!

nope, no dogs, no metal detection, no checks.. the employees are protected by law here. they can't be fired from one day to the next, they are entitled to vacation days, right to income when you are sick .... by the way, I have been on sick leave since July due to an accident and still get paid, just no overtime of course. so yes, you are protected as an employee here.

This is actually false. I went too high school in Amsterdam, and there where from time too time actions(kluisjes controle) by police officers who would come in class unannounced too check out our bookbags and safe/closets. Never seen any metal detection at any of the schools though, but I am pretty sure the controls by police are done by more schools in the bigger cities of the Netherlands.
@thedutchhuman
@thedutchhuman 3 күн бұрын
@@don4940 Then that must have been in recent years and something must have happened that caused them to carry out a check, such as a drug check, because they may have caused too much nuisance at a specific school, but in general it does not happen here in the Netherlands the way they carry out checks in the USA.

@@thedutchhuman early 2000’s I went too highschool. Just looked it up, it’s a common thing in the bigger cities from at least the beginning of the new century. Just google “kluisjes-controle”. And I am not proud of this, but in my opinion people outside of the Netherlands tend too think it’s a utopia here, but we have our problems too May it be not as extreme as France or the USA.

First day the snow is strong enough to skate on, the Dutch are all over it. Neighbors coming together. One is providing coffee and hot chocolat. An other one wil make a huge pan of splitpee soup. And most important The kids get a that day of from school. It's called "Ice free".

Many schools here are large and do somewhat resemble hospitals too. Let's not get all romantic about the Netherlands, shall we? Great place to live and raise kids though and the 'snert' (split pea soup) is worth a winter visit in itself.

A hospital? More like a library. Sometimes dull, but never depressing like how schools in some other countries look like. Though there probably are a few exceptions, like with anything in real life offc.
