I’m closing in on my retirement and I’d like to move from Minnesota to a warmer climate, but the prices on homes are stupidly ridiculous and Mortgage prices has been skyrocketing on a roll(currently over 7%) do I just invest my spare cash into stock and wait for a housing crash or should I go ahead to buy a home anyways?
@smithdavis13626 ай бұрын
If anything, it'll get worse. Very soon, affordable housing will no longer be affordable. So anything anyone want to do, I will advise they do it now because the prices today will look like dips tomorrow. Until the Fed clamps down even further, I think we're going to see hysteria due to rampant inflation. You can't halfway rip the band-aid off.
@grinjohnson64526 ай бұрын
Considering the present situation, diversifying by shifting investments from real estate to financial markets or gold is recommended, despite potential future home price drops. Given prevailing mortgage rates and economic uncertainty, this move is prudent, particularly due to stricter mortgage regulations. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable independent financial advisor is advisable for those seeking guidance.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000.

Finding financial advisors like Laura Grace Abels who can assist you on things like investing, insurance, making sure retirement is well funded, going over tax benefits, ways to have a volatility buffer for investment risk would be a very creative option. I live in Ramsey, MN, and what you said about the wild weather fluctuations is so true. It is rare that we get to have Easter egg hunts outside, because we usually have a blizzard. We have been out raking our yard in October and been snowed on. I just went to the store with my kids today in late May; a couple of us were braving shorts, and the others were wearing coats. I have never seen school canceled for snow, but I have seen it canceled for extreme cold.

It seems the only information about Minnesota revolves around the Metro area. There are 2 Minnesotas, the metro and what No Balz Walz calls the "rocks and cows". Thanks for finally telling some of the truth about Minneapolis. Most KZbinrs usually emphasize what a clean, lovely place with a wonderful skyway system it is. They obviously never get beyond Nicollet Mall/Hennepin Ave. in downtown. The horrible traffic caused by the automobile-hating city council stuffing bike lanes in already narrow streets and mandating a 20 MPH speed limit, the high cost of everything, the insane laws and regulations, the homeless camps that have sprung up everywhere, the trash, the litter, the graffiti, the boarded-up buildings, the violent crime...it's really a Hellhole once you get away from the Potemkin Village of a few square blocks of downtown. Been here all my life and I love Minnesota. But you can argue it’s all a matter of perspectives and expectations. For instance, I was born and raised in Minneapolis. As a Minneopolitan I was slanted against the St Paulites and felt they didn’t like me either. Then I went to College in St Paul and never moved back. About 25-30 years later I finally felt accepted as a St Paulite. Sure we can be a little passive aggressive but we really do mean well. Some may even complain about the high taxes here but I would argue that money is generally well spent and we always have some of the highest quality of life scores as they relate to other states. If you decide to move here and bring good intentions we will welcome you with open arms. Again, Minnesota is all I know so take it for what it’s worth. p.s. My dude, what large pockets of Minneapolis are a "wasteland"? Have you not been to any other large city in the country? Minneapolis is doing pretty good all things considered. The exodus that we experienced was do to COVID and work going remote - a lot of folks and business moved out of the city, but people are returning. Look around Gold Medal Park in the East, or North Loop areas. There is a lot of construction for residential apartments. Businesses are also coming back. I get this is supposed to be a video about the drawbacks of the city and you are not really wrong on anything, but I think you overexaggerate how bad things actually are. If you want to see what messes look like, Seattle or Atlanta are good examples. Or a really crazy case is St. Louis.

And it would snow weeks before Halloween 🎃 most of the time. Then only in late May would it go away finally. After breaking my back ( and discs) all winter 🥶 long. Then June it would rain most of the month. Recently in the “summer” of a few short months you would see and smell the Canadian Wildfires most of the summer to totally take any small amount of positives away from living in Minnesota. And it seems to happen every year now with regularity. There is a lot more negative than positive than living there in MinneSnowda. We would never go back to it again. I have lived all over the world. And it’s the most miserable place to live. I think my time in Philadelphia and Chicago was better….and that ranked very low on the scale from my family and I. Finally the truth on living in Minnesota. The Karen like Passive aggressive attitude that prevails everywhere did it for us to move. The City was called on us because we went on a vacation to Panama for 2 weeks. The lawn grass grass grew 1 inch longer than “city code” allows and both the cops 👮 came to the door banging on it and demanded us to come out. (We had cameras and asked via internet connection what they needed) Then the city was called on us that if we don’t now the yard within a few days that they would do it and we pay for it. Another time again both were called on us because we planted a tree 6 to 7 feet from the road and was told to move it back to 13.75 feet because that was for everyone to use and not allowed in the suburban neighborhood we lived. We owned 2 acres that went in deep. The mosquitoes 🦟 we had to spray for every week otherwise we would be attacked. Only could do it every 2 weeks. $$$$ Then state income taxes we paid an additional $360,000 over the 15 years we lived there. We could have bought another smaller house In florida for that outright. This was 2021 …With Zero Income taxes. So that and the rude neighbors we didn’t know anything of them for 15 years except at the end when our next door neighbor invited us to move their heavy cabinet from the living room to their kitchen was all the interaction we received…. After he screamed at me because once our puppy wandered over to “their” side, and pooped. 🙄 I always clean it up. passive aggressive to the next level everyone was! We had lived in the Northern Suburbs of Illinois before we made the mistake of moving there. We moved to florida after gaining only a lousy $60 k on appreciation in 15 years on our $500,000 house that we bought there in Minnesota. Which paid for the move to Florida. Having seen way less snakes than in Minnesota. No Gators in 3 years. 95 % less Mosquitoes 🦟 in Central Florida. And California like winters. We are so happy with our move to Florida. The people are so much happier always and friendly (true friendly). The taxes don’t eat us alive. And our home has appreciated $300,000 in 3 short years. So we wish we came down to florida much earlier than we did.
