Me: Oh fun! I’ll totally do those Also me: can’t even crochet a square
@aruemon789 ай бұрын
not to be dramatic, but crocheting squares and blocky shapes always was really hard for me. if you want to crochet something a little more approachable, try crocheting a stuffed toy. genuinely, the results pull together so quickly that it feels more gratifying than a square. i followed the tutorial for a whale on KZbin, but the same creator also does other animals and works super slow for maximum understanding.

@@Lovely_Rose38it is hard but keep practicing! It WILL get easier I promise. I know in order for it to get easier for me I had to hold the crochet hook the "wrong" way according to my aunt, born in the 1800s. She is the 1 that got me interested before she passed

Line the headbands with satin to protect your edges & the needle cases with cotton so needles won't escape.

The crochet hook case demonstrating exactly why I won’t make one is perfect😂 it’s a cute idea for sure but I’d be too scared of losing all my hooks!!!
@EmphaticNod18 күн бұрын
You can always line the inside with a bit of fabric. It doesn't take a crazy level of sewing skill, though a smaller size pouch like the orange one might take a bit of extra fiddling.

Pro tip for crocheters who are also figure skaters: make yourself some leg warmers that flare at the bottom so you can put them over your skates And then you can also make them button up so you can put them on over your skates That way you don’t spend money on them like I did

A tip I’ve found when making a crocheted case/bag for crochet hooks: Thread a piece of chain stitch yarn (or string, elastic or ribbon) through the stitch holes in the case, weaving in and out. This creates a drawstring. If you have a button on your case, thread it right above the level of the button, to tie beneath the flap. This has added benefits: By leaving the hook ends sticking out at the top of the drawstring, they won’t slide into the hole. They will also be easy to choose from and pull one out with one free hand, without fussing with a button. You can still have the flap and a button over the top, so you only need to close it up when you’re not crocheting. By drawing the drawstring tight and then buttoning the flap closed, your hooks will be made secure from sliding out or down inside the bag beyond finger reach.

For your coasters, you should try offsetting your increases. To do this, split all rows of even increments including increases So if I'm starting with a magic circle, the second row will be inc every stitch. The third row will be a single stitch then an increase making 3 stitches. The fourth row will be where you start this offset. Instead of doing 1, 1, inc totaling 4 stitches, start by doing the last half of those stitches first, making the final 2 stitches of the round the first 2 in the set. Row five is normal (1, 1, 1, inc) and then row six is the started once again with the second half of the set (1, 1, 1, 1, inc) of 6 stitches so you're starting with 1, inc and then doing the 1, 1, 1 at the end of the row. Do this second half split for every even row and you'll see that the increases don't stack which prevents those corners and forces the tension to even out creating a perfect circle
