THINGS TO DO IN PUERTO PLATA Dominican Republic.

Cruising in the Caribbean, We never thought that Puerto Plata was going to be so enjoyable. there are enough sings to to right at the port without having to go anywhere else. However, Rosa and I walked all the way to the end of the end of the tourist area an hired a taxi driver for the day. It was an amazing experience tailored to what we wanted.
if you come to Puerto Plata on a cruise don´t miss this opportunity.

im going to puerto plata in a few weeks alone with my toddler, how much was the taxi service? $80? im going to do one day for tourist like you did and 1 day just relaxing at the beach.

It was $40 per person. I don't know how much they'll charge you for your toddler. I love the tour day and beach day idea. You'll have a great time.

I'm glad this helped. We truly had a great time and felt safe as they take you to tourist places that are vetted out. They follow and watch out you so that random people don't mess with you. Let me know if you want my help finding and booking that cruise. The sooner you book the better your chances for a lower price an better location on the ship.

Hi Javier, my husband and I are going to Puerto Plata on the NCL Epic ship. He wants to book an excursion through NCL and it's pretty expensive. I told him we could hire Victor (hopefully, if he still works there) and do the tour with him or do it ourselves without spending $400. He wants to book through NCL because it's guaranteed we'll be back on time for departure. What do you suggest?

Hi Mildred, NCL goes to Amber Cove. Royal goes to We went to Taino Bay. I do not know it the same taxi drivers go to Amber but I'm pretty sure they do have a similar service. I would call Victor and ask. NCL vs Private - If you value the assurance that you will not be left behind more than the saving, flexibility, and privacy, go with NCL excursions. I will tell you that those that get left behind did something very wrong to end up in that position. Very very uncommon. It is very save to go on your own if you plan it correctly. @@pinkcarterinc. No. No middle man charging you more that what it's worth. You tell them I have to be back at the port at xyz time and they will make that happen. No worries.

I love Puerto Plata. I took the same tour you did but with a different driver. I really wish i got his card because I'm flying back in August and work like to hire him for a whole day or two. We're thinking about moving there. What's the name of the company your driver works for? I believe mine works for the same company and if like to find him when I get there. All i have is him is a pic he took with my wife and I. So if you remember the name i would appreciate the assistance.

Do you have to go through customs at each port?

You do not go to customs until you come back. The ship shares paperwork with the port authorities, it includes information about who just arrived, etc, etc. Once the ship is cleared to disembark the (the port accept us visiting their country), the Captain provides instructions about how to disembark.

We paid $80. Of course we also gave han. Tip. Not bad all for having someone take you to where you want to go, wait for you, a source of knowledge, and safety. Not all of them do this but he even had free WiFi for us.

@@pinkcarterinc. walk all the way down to the end of the complex. You will see them there offering their service. We paid $40 per person and gave him a $20 tip.
