Excellent overview and tips! I'd love to see a whole series of videos from Matt Gemmell as a kind of step-by-step tutorial for Supernote beginners. I think there are many, many people out there who are just now jumping onto the e-ink tablet bandwagon, and Matt's calm demeanor, clear, concise explanations, and highly organized thought processes would be greatly beneficial for many. Thank you, Matt Gemmell!

I think that would be a great idea too. I don't believe Supernote itself has any such tutorials, but their PDF instruction manual is quite useful. Matt is the only utuber I've seen who highlights all the features of the tablets, how they work, what they can be used for, and how they integrate with each other. All the other channels focus on the distance of the pen to the scree, how much latency is involved, the brightness and all the other many, many physical technical aspects. This is another reason I really appreciate Matt's videos.

@@Xingqiwu387 Thanks very much! I’m indeed interested in doing some tutorial-type videos on using Supernote features in the future.

35:20 Spot on! I've always struggled with a feeling that I was ruining the perfection of a blank page in a paper notebook. So I'd write on scraps! But e-ink is as liberating as when I first got a computer and was able to write without that psychological discomfort. Because electrons love to change, they're not bothered if you edit them.

Love your writing and Supernote videos! I'm a writer too (though, a yet-to-be-published one!). My Manta arrived on 2 January and it's perfect for me. It's so surprisingly light and even fits in my handbag, so I can take it everywhere. In my Quick Access I have a Workbook for my novel, a Creative Writing note for writing tips and ideas, a Reading note for observations from books that I'm reading, etc.

Matt, Excellent video with good tips Iook forward to your future videos , your concise explanations are invaluable and as another viewer commented a series of videos with step by step tutorials using the Supernote devices would be very beneficial to a lot of people starting out on the Supernote Platform . I am also very excited to see your thoughts regarding the use of both sizes of the same device for different purposes . Nice to hear a familiar accent too ( I am from the Falkirk area)

This is exactly what I needed! I’ve been debating whether to stick with my iPad Pro or switch to a Supernote for writing. Thank you!

Appreciate your videos. Looking forward to receiving my Supernote Manta whenever it ships. A lot of the things you mentioned in this video are what I plan to use it for and I enjoyed the way you conveyed it.

Hi All - I am a big fan of supernote but huge problem for me is lack of backlight. How you manage without it? Small Chinese lamp? Now I test onyx boox 4c and try to set up the same as supernote but you know how difficult it is and thinking to buy supernote Manta. Many thanks for your opinion.

I'm also a writer with published poetry and short stories. I'm working on my first novel. I write most every first draft longhand on paper, then migrate to text. (I use a notebook management application on my desktop to revise from there. Then eventually, I move to Word or LibreOffice for manuscript finalization.) I have a Supernote coming … probably next week. I'll be curious how you use the device for your writing work. And how that evolves over time. Cheers. Non-writing … Morning pages: I use a composition book for that. I do 1 page, 2 pages, 3 pages, whatever. I just go until I decide to pack it up. I find it useful. Since Morning Pages are kind of banal and throw-away, I suspect I will continue doing that with pen and paper. Everything else will likely moved to the Supernote.

I used to use an iPad Pro (Notability) for morning pages. I’ve always been fascinated by the longhand writers; I could never bring myself to do that. Even 30 years ago I was using a word processor. Perhaps I ought to try it for one of my weekly short stories.

Which part of Edinburgh are you in? We visited this year and thought it was fantastic!! Also… your tap water is so pure. It was shocking compared to the USA and London.

Do you find yourself using your iPad less now you’re using Supernote devices?

I certainly do. I've actually started to hate my iPad Pro, but I wouldn't ever want to use an e-ink tablet for youtube videos while lying in bed at night; the iPad is irreplaceable for that.

I certainly use the iPad for far fewer tasks. One interesting aspect is that, when I am using the iPad, I now virtually always have a Supernote at my side and in active use too - and I find the iPad itself far less frustrating because of that. So there’s an element of enhancement involved, not just replacement. I think it comes down to allowing each device to do what it’s best at.
