Dear Shraddha, thank you for your lovely Vlog! It is very informative and true. I´m a grumpy old german (68), growing up in the north. I agree with almost everything you said, except regarding the love of Bureaucracy of the Germans. Most of my professional career I spent in public Administration as a Lawyer. So I know a bit about bureaurcracy. The germans hate bureaucracy like everyone else. But: All citizens have the right to inspect their files at any time and can contradict every decision the public Administration has made if they don´t agree. And they do very often! In such cases I had to transfer the case with my files to a Supervisor or Collegue for a second decision and justify my own. If the decision of my Supervisor or Collegue doesn´t satisfy the compliants, they usually call the Court, which demands at first all the files. A lot of the people have a Legal expense Insurances and claim then free of risk, so it´s absolute necessary to keep your files clean and complete as a public servant. As a result you have a overwhelming Bureaucracy, but in the end it works. It´s a cultural/historical thing but nobody loves it. By the way: last semester (Lecturing as side job) one of my Indian Students praised the German Bureaucracy and I was very surprised. She wanted to marry in germany and needed some papers from India. The worst part she said was getting the papers from home. It took a long time and was very expensive, because she had to "support" the process by paying "contributions". In the end she said, it took a lot of paperwork here but was transparent, worked perfectly and without any "financial support". To the Sun loving germans: You gave the answer yourself with the description of the Winter Depressions. When the Spring arrives most of the germans get out and enjoy the sun, the colours and the warmth. Stay some years in Germany and you´ll feel the same! Sorry, my contribution is a bit too long!!!! Go on vlogging Shraddha, I enjoy it! Have a good day and stay healthy :) Dettmar

Hello Dettmar, I am really happy that you liked the video. Yeah for me it is normal now but, my friends in India are not used to such habit and they get upset. I read the whole comment and I agree that I am also getting used to it because back in India it is difficult to get the document. Thanks for watching!

Tips: Avoid big citys. Especially Berlin. Seeing it is not worth the hassle of being in it. If the winter thing makes you reconsider coming here dont do it. If you still decide to do so wait for early spring. That gives you a good amount of time to build some connections before it gets dark again, and youre gonna want those during your fist few winters to soften the blow a bit. If youre feeling really down youre alone and youve made a friend youd consider close ask if you can spend christmas with them. Atleast in my region (rural) its not uncommon to spend the holidays or atleast the evenings with someone elses family if you got no one else. Its usually a blast and the food tends to be great.

Thanks for this video. It was actually needed and was quite relevant. As they say a coin has two sides. So we needed to know the other side too. And what minimum level of German do you suggest us to know to atleast survive there? I have B1, which a few of them say should be enough. But is it really sufficient?
@ShraddhaParashar4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I was hesitant to make this video because no one talks about these things. There are just good things but it is important to see both sides. I am happy people like it. Yes, Kunj it is enough! Usually I would say min. A2 for survival.

@@ShraddhaParashar okay!! And there is nothing to hesitate about. You are not just cooking stories and speaking. You are just showing us reality. So nothing wrong in it. If you wanna make any such videos in future too, just make it. We would love that one too. It's all good unless cooked up for more views. Cheers!! :)

Well, Shraddha, rainy weather in summer and short days and cold nights in winter depress me too, and I wish I were back in south India, where I lived for almost a year. But *sigh*, for many reasons I have to be here in Germany again. What's good against the depression, it's sugar. If you're not diabetes-prone, drink hot tea with lots of sugar, and I'll tell you my dirty little secret: I'm a male and I learned how to bake cookies.
