I realised that I am more of an Acts of service child to my parents than a money giver. I love spending time at home with them whenever I can, thoroughly clean the house , compound, arrange things here and there and just sit make stories and laugh all day long. Truly, there's more to life than money. We can show up for our family in many different ways ❤ Nice talk ladies, you really have opened my eyes to very profound perspectives.

This is very true Sharon. Acts of service are such a beautiful way to show love and care for family. Sometimes, the time and effort we give mean so much more than money. Truly, there’s more to life than just financial contributions. Thanks for sharing this perspective-it’s so relatable!

It's interesting how different you are from me and I love it for you. I do not believe in cleaning and arranging anything for anybody. Since I was little, I have been that way. I prefer to give money towards a need. I also like making jokes😅, laughing and telling stories. I throw down once in a while when I feel like 😂❤

On the point of money, I heard someone once say money can't solve all your problems but it makes it easier to go through the ones it doesn't necessarily solve.

This episode was hard for me because in 2021, I learnt that I wasn't loved at home. Like I had to accept it. Only sharing in case someone is also in a similar situation.

On Murugi's point about trauma not healing itself, I heard Dr. Anita Phillips (she is a trauma therapist) say that as an adult, your inner child is now yours to raise. Most times families don't apologise for the trauma they cause but even if they did, they can never go back and undo the feelings/trauma that you got from their actions. So yes healing can happen in families if people acknowledge the impacts of their words/actions and through forgiveness, but to some extent, you have to be willing to do the work (ofcourse by the help of God and therapy) to establish how the trauma affected and so you don't continue bleeding on others. Also, people tend to remember what significantly impacted them the most. So even if you went to your parents right now and said "Yaani you guys don't remember when you said/did this when I was 10 years old". Chances are they might not remember (because they don't want to) or because they genuinely can't remember because although it affected you so much, to them it was just another day of parenting. Long story short - Go to therapy guys.

The thing is YES, Good things happen to bad people and good people all the time. Coz things happening to us have very little to do with us. It's a grace of God kind of thing. The sun shines and rain falls to both the evil and righteous. However, when it comes to repercussions for bad/ malicious behaviour,it shall come back. It might not take the form we expect ( n that's why we are quick to say nothing is happening to them) but it will come back. Give and it shall come back to you, good measure, pressed down shaken together and running over. Good or bad giving shall come back.

Generational blessings should be celebrated; my family really comes through on coming together and contributing to doing things like chores, not just financially. When people are in the hospital or wedding events, everyone takes turns sleeping over, bringing food or a change of clothes, etc. The worst people could get good things, but only because principles do not segregate. You apply the right principle, you get its rewards.

Insightful episode as usual. Things I learnt from observing family: To recognize and work on not repeating unhealthy patterns. E.g. Not being a bad/ evil sister in law to any of brothers future wives, so as to not repeat what I saw growing up Boundaries need to be set with Siblings/ parents otherwise they might interfere with your nuclear family. They may not always want the best for you. Some may be jealous or fear the end of the unhealthy dependency. Set boundaries in your business with family/ friends. Ask yourself questions like. Is there a family/ friends discount? How long can they stay with your debt/ how much can they take at once. Not setting boundaries when it comes to your business can affect financial flow or stock replacement. People need to be open to learning beyond what they have grown up knowing. I have heard to block a relative on Fb because of quoting the bible to justify Israels actions in Palestine and to justify why Christians should blindly and unconditionally support them. Argued with another because of saying blowing up children is justifiable because its "valid" for someone to "return" to land they were "promised" after 3000 years and clear out existing populations.
