6:10 I can answer this. Just add an arena style pvp game mode similar to Arena of Arsha but where there's 2 branching modes called casual pvp and ranked pvp. -In casual pvp, there is no gear requirement as everthing excluding skill slots (how you put points to your skills) and having to be lvl 56 or higher to play. As everything is equalized in terms of gear. The match is 3v3 based (maybe add 1v1 would be nice too). - In ranked pvp, player's will have to bring there own gear into the mix (so you better be at soft cap or higher. Chances are, to be safe; be at 580 gs or more with around 250 ap at least 280 dp at least as well. In said ranked pvp you'll be placed in seasonal bouts that give you points, depending on how many points you have in the end of the season you can earn rare rewards like. Tri trungand

To me ranked should not contain gear at all (or even cap it. Or even give gear wich matches both players). Casuals mode should be the one having no gear cap. If you want to be competetive and you win cause of gear, then it is not competetive. Ranked is the competetive game mode. They are not for casuals. Only the low ranks would contain casuals but above at the mid/high ranks, non casuals will play. If a player wins in ranked because he has soft cap gear or even above and he is mediocre skilled or not skilled, then this doesn´t make any sense. This would discourage people playing ranked. In my Opinion

Yeah, but you're playing a progression based MMO. Where 90% of people worked HARD for their gear and they want to use it. That's why I think there should be "Gear classes" in "Ranked" PvP. Like 500-520 520-550 / 551-570 / 571-999 Or something of the sort.

And like I said if there is gear in ranked then like you said, you fight people in your own gear bracket and not 540 vs 450+- gs and the 450 gs guy plays way better then the 540 gs guy and he can´t kill him cause of gear. Then this is not competetive at all. It is casual, Gear is rng. You either have/had luck or not. Skill is harder to equire than gear and more impressive. Either you fight against your own brackets like 20+- gs advantage or disadvantage or same gear. They can make a ranked mode where you get same gear as the other guy. How will you fight with this gear this dude has? You have to adapt fast and counter etc. This sounds more interessting than: " In ranked pvp, player's will have to bring there own gear into the mix (so you better be at soft cap or higher. @@numbskull6871 The reason I said that is because I understand how the player's would think if PA were to add ranked mode only with skill involved and not gear. As this would basically eliminate getting gear for pvp, everyone would just hop into this mode and not go for gear. The casual pvp mode is meant for those having a hard time getting gear to pvp, so they can have fun while trying to earn their gear on the side. When they finally get said gear, they can hop on to the more competitive pvp bout in ranked where they can earn high rewards or play in any other game mode or activity that requires gear for pvp. I completely agree with what you said about how ranked should be, but seeing how this game is revolved around getting gear for pvp, it's backwards pretty much.

Awesome points guys!!! Please also talk about toning down the p2w. I love this game and have no problem with supporting the devs, I'd even pay a sub and have no cash shop over f2p... Please reach out to the devs and beg them to listen to this... This game could be so much bigger than it is if these devs would just tone down the p2w and bring in arenas and some other tweaks. On the life skill channel idea, that would take away from too many other channels, maybe just make a afk friendly type channel with fishing 1% fishing exp or something. You want all channels to feel alive and if all the non pvpers left and all went to 2 channels the game would feel dead.

I know I'm late to the party but I just wanted to add in my 2c 1. I like the idea of GS brackets for the arsha thing more then providing gear. I think theres a large chunk of people who prefer small scale pvp over large scale pvp and this could cater to it nicely. It could come with cosmetic awards, titles, crystals, black stones, small things that help improve your performance along with like a ranking system that players could play and dedicate themselves to climb, similar to maybe like ranked arena in WoW. 2. I feel like SMH should get a rework. I feel like they have the opportunity to create truly engaging pve content with smh if they would increase the money from it as well as increase the seamonsters DP, making it impossible to solo but lucrative for a guild of dedicated seamonster hunters who hunt as a team. I also want to see the boat combat rehauled. I think if they added other things like a hwatcha or even bring back the trina matchlock as well as polished up the combat for the cannons, it would feel a lot more engaging and epic. Maybe they could keep the lower tier seamonsters like the hekaru where they're at so that solo players could experience it too, but I think the bigger ones like ninesharks would be dope to do like a 10min guild battle on and then get like a 100m drop for the guild bank. 3. I think they should really fix a lot of the exploits that enable the game and rethink how to do them. For instance, you mentioned how trading would be dead if they fixed the horse stacking exploit, but what if they fixed it, then adjusted prices and wagons and balanced around that. 4. MORE GROUP CONTENT. 100% agree with the theme of making people group up to accomplish things. That's kinda the point of an MMO in my opinion. 5. I think 7 days penalty would be great for leaving a guild, but I also think that maybe they could increase the cost of breaking the contract with the guild as well. 6. Mercenaries being able to be hired through an NPC is another amazing idea. I agree though that there should be caps on it. Like maybe different node war tiers restricted either the amount of mercs or even the gear score of the mercs you can hire. And the NPC can show cool details like your W/L %, your GS, your Class(es), and the higher or more valued you become, the higher your rates go and those rates would be paid through the guild bank. 7. A lifeskill server sounds nice.. but in all reality, putting every single afk fisher, afk processer, the people who want to capitolize on the extra % who are doing alchemy and cooking, and trading, and hunting, and sailing and every other lifeskill, onto one or two servers would make both of those servers extremely laggy, as well as effecting density of stuff like gathering nodes, abundancy of fish, and whatnot. I would much prefer the boot system and then lifeskillers just learn, hey if its siege day, I should probably afk on a different channel. 8. Just wanted to say this game really is just a blank canvas with sooo much potential, more then any other game I've ever played which is why I keep playing it and I just wanted to say thanks for putting this out there, I was feeling in a podcast mood while grinding today and I'm glad I found you guys, made the grind really fun!

Good show. The marriage system that gives extra and lore are things that do exist in ESO. Its a great game but bdo has swept me away. I don't think it would be go to buff only specific servers because that could cause lag from over crowded server. Lots of great ideas.

I guess i have a better idea for afk ppl. They just need instance zones. For example u enter your house, and get to the instance zone (with a different server for all ppl), where u can afk fishing, processing, have a training dummy e.t.c. And make this house zone a must for afk stuff. Cause booting ppl back to any channel is a HUGE server load.

1 year, going 2 years now, and WE STILL, don't have any small scale PVP, with gear or with equalized gear or some middle ground of both. This game is great, but PVP is left to the back burner from my point of view; even though PVP seems to be what is heavily marketed about. Still love to hear this podcast even though it's old :).

It is easier than it looks... just copy/paste, WoW arenas matchmaking method, works well, not great but good, do it by rating, like more arena rating means that u have more gear/skills, that way no1 will feel excluded and everybody can do arenas, and another source of motivation, and of course, good rewards that worth the time invested. @FakeUniform im a sea SMH aswell and i can tell you the tag system via char selection is a must for SMH, in a game where weight is for $ irl, that is good for players that cant afford weight, in fact many of my friends are doing SMH cause of tag-system, without that, many SMH will quit cause they cant afford the pearl weight, and in SMH weight is a must for being efficient. Cool Video. I like the Arena Idea, for the Rest i cant much say. Im relative new to the game (around 3 Weeks playing) and trying to figure out all the stuff in game. I need to say, i was killed from players a few times and its not a big of a deal, its sad that you cant fight back and have a 0% chance of winning because the lack of skill and knowleage of the game and gear, but the time will come i can defend my grindspot, hopefully... I want content that's accessible early into your progression that's engaging and encourages teamplay, said content should also have variations for higher and higher progression levels. I for one am sick of the game catering to the tippity top of the playerbase and leaving the lesser players in the dust. It's like the very few with those yummy GS numbers get to go outside and play while the lower progression players are sitting inside doing mountains of homework (grinding) until they're done with it all and then can go outside.

a couple ideas I've thought of: 1: After killing a player, you no longer lose karma for killing them for a set amount of time. Maybe this time is an hour, or 30 minutes, but it would be really nice protection against karma bombers, because, well, they can't really karma bomb you anymore... 2: gearscore gated servers. In these servers, you can only enter them while your character is under certain gearscores, and you can't equip anything that would put you over said gearscore. These would be geared towards newer players, so they can be sure that they stand a fair chance against a player who comes into their grind spot, rather than just getting turbo dunked by some 270 AP player and being able to do nothing about it. This would also make the open world PvP more engaged with in said channels, because players know that anybody in them will have to be under a certain gearscore, where in the current game you have no idea unless you know the guild they're in is a siege guild or high tier node war guild. Mostly though, I want to just be able to flag on and kill players without having to deal with the possibility that my karma gets dunked, and I think the reasons for this ties into the gear and crystal system for this game, like how you discussed new crystals late into the podcast. I seriously think you lose way too much karma for flag killing another player.

maybe they should just add like 20 - 50 max Durability to all crystals, and 1 death would equal -1 dura on one or more crystals (up to 4 crystals depending on how low your karma is). And it would apply to both positive and negative players, but if you're positive, you won't lose dura from player deaths, only PvE deaths. The Crystals can be repaired maybe by black stone powder (like recharging an Alch Stone with Blood)

No you don't need to take away their gear and let them choose their class and skills, create a system that reads your gearscore (you can't change gear once the match is one meaning after the game "reads" your gearscore you can't swap gear to avoid someone carrying) for example let's say you have 520gs the system could find you enemies that are close to your gear not everyone has 550 and 560, so basically you create this arena system for 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and you just get better rating with more wins, as your rating improves tho you'll be facing people with higher rating thus gear, it would also give another purpose to players that don't have 550 to up their gear. You want to play with your character not something that was made for this "mode" it doesn't even have to be a mode, just arena like WoW.

To pretend that money is the only reason you cant compeat is a bad joke at best sry. Learn the game, work with the tool it offers and put at least once some effort in and you get enough result, with or without itemshop use. To the content part. Playing around 1 1/2 years now and i still find so much stuff do to. Rly for a 10$ base game with free updates thats more then good compared to 60$ triple A shitshows that barly last 20 hours. it gives people the ability to explore other characters without investing hours first, and they can have pvp fights that are mostly skill based and not dependant on how much they grinded. and in the end it's optional. you will still have node wars and other types of pvp.

so streamers that have every incentive to have the game be viable ad infinum addres pvp with that "pvp" slant . When someone says that i am not saying ........... they are . Pearl abyss caters to the casual crowd for a reason.SALES. You wanna pvp go to arsha or rbf ... Mechanisms have been put in place to discourage ow pvp so a minority of epeeners can scream all they want but they are just a minority .Way to address guild payouts and smh , speedhackers, fishbotters and a game that is so discombobulated that its ingame economy has been exploited by a few . Pfft ...Forget the fact that the rng gate hinders most of the playerbase from ever obtaining endgame gearscore over time .
