Zombies always attack the weakest point in a base. If you keep the defense point one tier of upgrade lower than the walls then they will always path the way you want. Safest method is just double up walls to two blocks deep instead of just one. You can leave them stone and still use steel bars or vault hatches for your defense points in your kill corridor

Yeah, they will go to the easiest point to attack 100% of the time. They all have engineering degrees. Truth be told, if they wanted to make sure the zombies would only come from the front, doubling all blocks on the sides and back, and then make a single entryway with tons of electric fence and blade traps would be ideal. Just put a couple rows of hatches at the end that you can flip open to protect yourself, and the zombies will see that as an open path all the time.

I would even recommend doing triple block walls.

You dont have to build a stronghold. It's enough if you build some pillars and a high place with easy reach, and using som DP's at the top. The Z's will die from falling, after their fourth or sixth fall.. :D You can build defense spikes and other stuffs to defend your walls, but you dont need to lock yourself up. If they cant reach you they start to chew through your base. The horde nights are tower defense games and not fortification games. :D The fortification needed at the main base to defend you while dont watch your surroundings because you build something.

Neebs knows about the hatch strategy. Zombies dont see hatches as barriers so they run right to them thinking they are open paths. Best base in DF I ever fought in was a shooting gallery where all the enemies were funneled into a tunnel with rows of vault hatches and blade traps between them and us. On top of that the ceiling was low by using half block shapes which forced them to crawl thus allowing for easy headshots. I would have high hopes for his base if they weren't all still on low tier weapons on day 30. When demons start showing up you really want to be on titanium tier gear with coil guns.

Due to AI pathing, if you give the zombies no entrance, they'll make an entrance. You have to trick the AI into thinking there's a way to get to you without there actually being one.

zombies will always look for the weakest point, my best base was internally and externally lined with concrete, also with 10+block pitfall with bladetraps filling every inch of the pit. the pit was too wide for zombies to jump across along with the walls being too thick so the zombies were forced to jump into the pit to try and break down the 4 vault doors i had instead of trying to dig. along with that i had an electric fence surrounding the pit. and turrets at each corner picking off extras.

Neebs use hatches connected to switches so when your over run you can flip the switch the zombies will find a new path being they can't go over the open hatches. This can also be used to give relief on your front for repairs that may be needed

Hold on, Simon had a great idea. A zombie capture mission. Picture a mission where you have to fight a unique zombie spawned in a POI. When you defeat it, it drops to the ground and you pick it up to return it to the Trader. It also gives you a timer which when it reaches 0 it will pop out of your inventory and fight you again. So you have to get it back to the trader quickly.

Every time I watch you guys struggle with the most basic things, like keeping your guns loaded or just equipping a weapon and slapping instead of panickly fumbling buttons as soon as theres a single sudden zombie, I feel so much better about my own lack of skills. I'm not a particularly good player in most games (except maybe Nova Drift, yay) and everytime I play any multiplayer fps I get my ass beat, but I'm arguably not *this* kind of bad. And still you're having fun, the whole point of games.

Tips of the week: I think you got that many zombies in that Poi because they spawned when Dora started the quest and then spawned again when Appsro started it. Appsro, you can get Mechanical and Electric Parts from anything with moving and or electric parts in real life. So cabinets, fuse boxes and office chairs all have those items. You can also make your own parts with the right skills. They do require either forged iron or steel. Not from this episode but generally you should harvest and save all the leather you find. From couches and such. They net well over a thousand dukes for a full stack and you'll always have a surplus of leather to burn. It's a good idea to wall off the parts of a base you don't want the zombies to go to. You want to make it less appealing for them which practically means you have to make it one or two blocks thicker than where you're attacking from. Anyone else have tips based on this week's episode?

Is there a way to do a moving base? Like a school bus with turrets and shooting positions on top. A driver drives a route for the whole night while others on the team shoot from positions either inside or on the roof. You could plan the route and border the route with spikes, walls, fence, etc. Could make for a fun episode.

NEEBS has the right idea: provide them a path to get to you. Trying to keep them out is a fool's errand. Always make sure that the path is the weakest point in your base, that way they will always choose it. Making them jump is a good idea as it slows them down. Provide alternate paths that you can open up or also defend as stairs etc may break if a cop or demo blows up etc. Also fall back positions that continue the theme are a good idea for when your first position gets over run. You will need to commit to a design and improve on it each horde, as DF hordes become MEGA Death each successive one. A base built from scratch in 7 days will not stand up to one. Aerial defense will need to become better as later stages make spitting birds seem tame.

Vertical towers actually work really well if designed good. For towers the trick is to have a long outer path rotating upwards around the tower lined with traps. You sit at the top and shoot down as they path around the outside. If your path is really good they will fall to the bottom. Or you can always do a raised funnel base.

Never played the game myself, but seeing you guys fail on multiple occasions, here's my idea: Build a pyramid, but a flat top instead of a point. Bird cage on top, electrical fence and blade traps all across on the incline, escape tunnel from the top of the pyramid. Let Simon do the spikes. As always great video guys. Tip for Point of Interest Missions: If you go directly for the loot room of a POI, all sleeping zombies become aware of you and home in. Can't go straight for the loot without a fight.

Make a twoer with autos on the corners and fan traps on the walls. Fan traps are 3X3 so make the walls by 3s. The surround with spikes. Have a second floor entrance with drawbride.
