You've created a considerable library of films, and they remain here. I can only express my gratitude for all your work. If it's time for personal and professional growth, then I wish you well and hope you derive every positive achievement, success, and satisfaction from it. It's healthy to evolve and embrace change. Good luck, thank you, and we'll see you when we see you.

Thank you so much for that wonderful note of understanding. When I commit myself to something, I really like to give it real time; and know when I feel it needs more attention. I also value quality, and if I feel that may be slipping because I'm doing too many things, then I know it's time to really refocus. And I'll still be here to do more videos on 'Plant One On Me' throughout the year, I just know it'll be at a lower frequency than folks are accustomed to. But I think the new "stealth" project that I'm working on will really resonate with a lof of folks here too, especially since it too is plant-related.

I love that; and love that you found the channel during a trying period of history. Luckily we'll be around on both channels producing here and there; and I think between both channels, there are probably close to 1200 videos, so definitely feel free to binge watch! I trust that what we're working on now will be of great interest to folks going forward as well, we just need the time to focus on them to 'Get 'Em Done!" as they say :) My best to you.

I completely adore Flock - it's my favourite thing ever on KZbin. May I suggest some simple, raw videos on Flock just giving us a little tour to see how things are growing.
@summerrayneoakes10 күн бұрын
Well, I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the other channel. I will definitely try to do more casual tours, as I had done in the former chicken coop / dove coop, just to give folks some status updates. It's tougher now in the upper 'Common House', b/c as you'll see in the next video, it's in full on reno mode. And yes, the plants are being shuffled back and forth in the middle of it, so I think come spring time, there will be hosing a lot of plant leaves down from the dry wall dust! Thanks for watching. Totally appreciate it and am thankful for your patience.

Summer as a long long time viewer I enjoy your potting plants and thrifting locally. I don’t see the need to go to different states and countries to show botanical gardens. People like your old videos more. I always look at how many people are watching and the videos you make potting plants and showing NY state areas with people making different things is more interesting to me. I live in NYC and NY state is so beautiful and have hidden gems.
@summerrayneoakes10 күн бұрын
Well that's lovely to hear. I'm glad you like the local stuff. It's obviously a bit easier to shoot (unless we happen to be in another area-and then we always try to make the most of it). I think once all of our spaces are set up here, it'll be a lot easier for us to do 'normal' things. Right now, the space upstairs is just a mad house, as it's just dusty and in full renovation mode, so it's really hard to concentrate on anything else when that is happening. It's always such a milestone when a room gets finished and there's some semblance of order again. But yeah, we'll likely be sticking more locally to do videos on both channels. And in the meantime, I'm really enjoying the time I've allotted to focus on 'stealth' project. It's plant-related so I know folks will really enjoy it when it manifests itself. Thank you for your understanding. And stay warm in this crazy cold NY weather we're having at the moment! :)

Chasing the ever-changing algorithms seems to be driving a lot of creators crazy, happy that you are able to let go of that. Looks like this is the year of "getting things done/finished" and that is not compatible with constant vlogging, so you guys need to keep your eyes on the prize - we will be there no matter what. In spite of everything going on in our country and the world today, I am trying to keep an optimistic outlook on the year ahead knowing that tending my garden will always be an oasis of calm no matter what else is going on. Looking forward to whatever you can share.

Same here. Really am just a pragmatist and optimist at heart, so I'm with you. I am not really gardening though at the moment because it's SO cold outside, but focusing on this new project indoors at the moment feels really good. I'm glad that you understand that sometimes things just need to get done-and then once they are-it's a new time to blossom. Sort of like the energy that sits in a tuber or bulb during the cold season and then it comes back more prolific the next season....

Nice to see that folks are still coming across the channel. Well I guess between 'Plant One On Me' and Flock Finger Lakes-there are over 1200 videos that you can watch! haha. But yeah, I'm really loving the time right now to focus on the other projects. It's funny-when you give yourself the permission to do something, it feels as if a weight is lifted. Can't wait to hear more about the project!! You've been an inspiration over the years! I found you during lockdown and have learned *so much* from you! I distinctly remember your plant taxonomy video and the spark that was lit in me. I love my houseplants and have expanded to native plants in my little garden. It's a newly developed dream of mine to own more land and restore native habitat 🥹 Take the time you need.
@summerrayneoakes10 күн бұрын
I really love to hear that. I often say that houseplants are really the 'shoe in' to appreciation for plants and life outdoors; and it seems as if you are proving that statement. I'm also really glad to hear that you nerded out more on the plant taxonomy side of things. When I was doing more mainstream tv, there was always the desire to "dumb it down" for the masses; but what I found through YT is otherwise-there are lots of folks who are really looking for more scientific information. It can be both 'sciencey' and approachable. And also love that you have a dream to restore native habitat. I felt the same way, and found my friends to do that with, so keep that dream moving forward.

You could post a 3-5 minute video of your gardens at Flock, no words, just calm beautiful plants and I'd tune in. Or a live cam of the chipmunks, squirrels, and groundhogs that come nibble on the peanuts and seeds. You do what you gotta do, though!❤️
@summerrayneoakes10 күн бұрын
We definitely have to get more of our live cams set up. A couple of our bird boxes were co-opted by hornets who set up nests right on the camera lens, so that was a major fail. Haha. And we didn't get the bird box cams set up until pretty late in the season, but I think this year we'll be more prepared. But yeah, I'm not going anywhere on both channels. There will be stuff still rolling out, just maybe not at the same frequency. I didn't want anyone to worry about where I am or what not. But yeah, I am making good progress on my other project, so hopefully with good progress and good time management, we'll see things chugging along on both channels. Thank you so much for your suggestions and thoughts!

I actually prefer shorter videos. I don’t mean shorts, but those less than 30 minutes or at least less than an hour. It is hard to finish a 2 hour video as that is quite a long time commitment even if I watch things on KZbin at x2 speed. Now that is my preference. The viewing metrics you get from KZbin will tell you if I am in the majority minority group of your viewers. Good luck on your project! I should add I do watch shorts, but they would not draw me to a channel. It takes more to develop a topic.

My guess is that you're writing and illustrating a book. If not, it would be great for you.

Lets be honest, renovating today is next to impossible and we can compare that to only 5 years ago.

Can you do a video on the houseplants you have. Missed seeing your Brooklyn home. Don’t still have it ?

If you trade long form for short form, I’m one viewer who would watch more videos. As a long time subscriber of both channels, I’ve actually watched far fewer since you started doing long form. May be an anomaly but just don’t have time to watch longer than 20 mins or so…10-12 mins is ideal. If the YT algorithm is not a factor, it may be good for you and us. Cheers! Love what you’re doing.

lol I for one prefer long form, I guess to each their own

Nice to hear your preferences. I definitely hear both sides, so I think it'll always be a mix of longer and shorter :)
If the intention for creating a KZbin channel was to educate you succeeded.

I hate that you have gotten away from the houseplant segment of you channel/videos. You were recommend to me for your houseplant care. I'll step back from your channel, and good luck with your projects....

Nice to hear what you prefer. Always good to get folk's opinions. I started to branch out on this channel into seeing plants at botanic gardens and (house)plants in the wild because to me, it's really nice to see plants in situ and in different places so we can get a sense of how we many want to grow them based on how they are growing in the wild or in other spaces; and to give context as to where they come from. But totally understand the more domestic preference of plants-in-pots-indoors. There will definitely be more of that on the channel, but just at a little less frequency for the moment. Thank you for letting me know!

Hi Vicki, maybe tune in to Summer’s “365 Days of Houseplants” it’s a great way to get a small daily hit of still relevant houseplanty info! 🪴🌱🌿
