This society is collapsing. As a divorced Catholic, I was encouraged by non-Catholics to start dating and be promiscuous. They thought that would heal the wounds of betrayal. And in the beginning the thought of celibacy was devastating. But I know the truth. I had been asking God to help me be a saint. I don’t know how this sorrow will get me there, but I trust in Him.

Prayer is time with God and it’s all about our will to pray. You chose to pray and be with God and can offer those distractions up to him. One of the beautiful ways I’ve seen it out is this. When you are baptized the Holy Spirit came to reside in you. Even now He is within you heart. In love He constantly cries out “Abba Father” within us in union with the Son. Prayer is simply when we join in, either by our words in vocal prayers like the rosary, or by a silent resting in His presence. So really, prayer isn’t something we do, it’s allowing God to act by our own consenting actions. Hope this may help you on your journey. Peace and blessings.

Absolutely true. It never ends. I’m 52 and my parents divorced when I was four. They were cordial to each other and gave me the best “divorced parents” scenario possible. Boy that was a bit depressing 😏. I can appreciate the truth in it, but the beauty is each individual life has the capacity to live within the context of tremendous Hope. Essentially it doesn’t matter that the world is falling apart. The world doesn’t save us. The harder they make it, the greater the battle, the more magnificent the Hope. He is our everything. He’s all that matters and He longs for each member of our families. That will never lessen or diminish. Eyes on Christ.

4:39 Funny thing is with the way Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit, you'd see a lot of subtle but spiritual things happening in the background. Especially when it came to Bilbo spairing Smeagol and Gandalf (who is technically an Angel btw) commenting on it despite not knowing all the details. Even as we are doing these things in the physical world , what is in and is expressed by our hearts will determine the fate of so many.
@lumpichu
@lumpichu Жыл бұрын
Gandalf not not simply an Angel. Tolkien's characters aren't usually so simple allegories. Just one example, he's also one of the prominent Christ figures especially by his death and resurrection as Gandalf the White and the conversion of Theoden. There are no complete angels in LOTR, no complete Christs, no complete Marys etc. but it's very well mixed (also with non-Catholic influences). Maybe it's a bit similar to the Old Testament's prefigurations. It's the big difference from Narnia.
@lumpichu
@lumpichu Жыл бұрын
Btw, I don't have much to back it up and it's not probably even Tolkien's intention, but I see some similarities to Mechizedek in Anne Catherine Emmerich's visions. It's never told in the Bible "what" he is. He definitely isn't any "standard" angel, certainly not just a human, but she saw him as an angel and doing and preparing so many necessary things on Earth in the background.

The Lord tells us in Matthew 24 that the one who endures to the end will be saved. But that kind of phrasing makes it sound like few will be saved. The Apostle John tells us in his revelation that those who come out of the Great Tribulation blessed and pure will be "more than any man can count." Be encouraged by this--we must stand together.

Pope Innocent III and his predecessors believed that the Albigensian heresy was dangerous to Christendom because it threatened its moral conscience. While the heresies prior to the twelfth century had all been almost entirely doctrinal, the Albigensian Heresy was novel in that it was also a moral heresy. Albigensian Heresy was reminiscent of the Manichean Heresy, a strange dualism where it saw the universe as a struggle between a good god and an evil god. If I can bring this discussion down to a more biological level, I think of the butterfly. There are some who saw a butterfly struggling to escape from its cocoon. And in an effort to help them, they prematurely took the butterfly out. But then the butterfly died because it required the struggle to to grow. Some efforts to 'help' actually 'kill'. Charlie Brown used the best cuss word since he was prone to say, "Good Greif". There's nothing really bad about saying random accidents can be good. Just DON’T 'cause accidents' on purpose in a weird effort to cause good. As Romans 3:8 says, "Their condemnation is deserved.” Some people even slander us by claiming that we say, “The more we sin, the better it is!” Those who say such things deserve to be condemned. I think one of most global crisis in philosophy today comes from STRANGE PHILOSOPHIES are who are conflating the idea of "ALLOWING struggles to bring growth" with "CAUSING struggles to bring growth." "ALLOWING struggles to bring growth" Is NOT the same as... "CAUSING struggles to bring growth."

We are not even anymore in the more problematic but until recently, still somewhat liveable "garden" of history, this meaning "in a continuation of sorts of some overall sense of things", give or take. No common sense left, all around is ideology and its sheer will power, but, mind you, without the generosity of heart Nietzsche preached his hoped-for advent of the Over-man (Übermensch) with. In the end we will need all the extra dimensions of courage, hope and strenght the only true supernatural can give acces to, just to save a modicum of former natural truths as remaining common among humans,... except, maybe, if God in his infinite providential mercy, grants us all the really almost inconceivable grace of the Great Warning. We should all be praying for this wonder (Pope J-P II lived by the promise of in his veneration for Saint Faustina), and be in this surely led by an inevitably and obviously somewhat anxious Pope; but Pope Bergoglio, very unlike the joyous but ware and somewhat weary lucidity of old age Dr. Kreeft displays, seems enthousiaticaly (hell-)bound on massively modernizing the Church in a continuous ongoing synodality-process. Process-theology was never any good as a fundamental theology-base-ground, but if it is becoming the "modern cosmological thinking" much needed to finally steer the Church by (conceived as process of continuous renewal), then yes, we ought all to be enthousiastically following the shepherd, i guess. But I also venture to wonder if he is busy guiding and protecting the flock as the signs of the times give due, or is he postmodernly rebuilding, canceling-wise, the barn as one worldy whirlwind more than there are already plenty of....? My son wants nothing to do with me since I cannot deny reality and embrace him as a woman, but God has given me the grace to forgive what he has done, continue to love him and pray for him daily, and desire nothing else but his salvation, even if I never live to see it. He is Gods child first, God’s love for him will be greater and more perfect than mine can ever be. I don't think that they were necessarily wrong to say that society was ending but it isn't necessarily as drastic as was originally claimed. Rather than collapsing, society has been slowly erroding or disintegrating like how iron is eaten away at by rust if not properly protected from the world.

Generally speaking, they were correct. It is just the arc of collapse tends to progress more slowly than they expected. And, of course, people don't just stop when things collapse; they rebuild.

Society has been through quite a few upheavals and in those periods, unimaginable suffering was experienced and human life was lost.

Doomers bro... Doomers. Maybe check out some data-based descriptions of "society." Try some Steven Pinker. Or just operate based on your feelings of dismay.

@@aclark903, as it's sometimes said, "Numbers don't lie." I would recommend his Ted Talk: "Is the world getting better or worse? A look at the numbers." Pinker is purely secular when it comes to analyzing the data.

I don't think the argument is that society as such is going to collapse in a definitive way. What you are seeing in the argument is an observation that Western Civilization in particular appears to have aquired characteristics also seen in previous civilizations which have collapsed. This is taking things from a social, economic, and ecological point of view. What is harder to guess at is the timing. Things have tended to take much longer to happen than doomsayers expect. Regardless, when our society collapses, there will be others to take its place. At least, that is what has always happened before.

Do you think more souls or less are going to heaven in this day and age, compared to other times in history? This age is filled with wondrous technology and society for the materialist, but it is not something that fulfills the hunger and thirst that we have for God. I am convinced that, in this day and age, more souls are being lost to eternal damnation than before and that is the condition on which one ought to judge living standards.
