That's a bit cruel, isn't it? Placing the hero into a stasis only to be woken up when Ganon returns. That means the Sheikah only saw the hero as a weapon like the Master Sword, and not an actual person. If true, that might have been the tipping point which caused the royal family to turn on the Sheikah and force them to renounce their technology. I also don't think Zelda caused Link to collapse. He just succumbed to his injuries. As to why he is can recover so quickly and still perform well at minimum health, that could be a side effect of the Shrine of Resurrection.

Well, considering Link's weight is 8.5 apples(about 3 pounds), he seems to not be alive... exactly. It's like what the SoR did was just replace his guts with the blue energy stuff, so he keeps his skin and mind(to an extent), but he's basically a cyborg now. So that might have other effects on his abilities if his insides are just Shiekah energy

This actually mames sense! That way the king from 10000 years ago doesn't seem as an dumbass who olny wanted his people (the hylians) to be the only ones to be advanced or at least not wanting other races, in this case the sheikah to be more technologically advanced because of his fear of being dethroned or something, which I always hated that idea, is just unfair, but what you said will give him a reason not to fear the sheikah but to at least really distrust them.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. That's extremely cruel of them to put him in there. Especially when isnt it known (at least to the royals and sheikah) that a hero will always rise when ganon is due to return? Then it would make a bit more sense for the king 10,000 years ago to tell them to knock it off.

My interpretation of Link's "death" is that he was willing himself alive just to protect Zelda, and as soon as the battle ended his job was done and he could finally rest. I can't prove that Zelda didn't kill Link, but if that was the case she'd be feeling far guiltier when he fell, and I believe the game would make it clearer that that was the case.

Maybe the shrine was meant to hold the Hero in a constant state of “no -death” the same way that Ganondorf was sealed under Hyrule, to stop the cycle of rebirth from Demise’s curse. Maybe all of these measures were taken by the people of old to try and stop the constant destruction of Hyrule every few centuries that comes with that cycle. If Ganondorf doesn’t die, he can’t be reborn; same goes for the Hero.

@Eevee Blackberry A story passed down since the Skyward Sword era. The Sheikah seem to be really big on their history, like, REALLY big. So what if this was a story passed from chieftain to Chieftain? And eventually they went: "Hey, were supposed to protect Hylia's descendant, but they said nothing about the hero or Demise's rebirth." And decided the best way to protect said descendant is to remove the causation of both sides of the threat. No hero, no Demise, no problem.

I really like this theory. Especially the parts about the shrine, but one thing I dont agree with is that Zelda's attack killed link. The triforce grabts wishes and in that moment Zelda love for link willed her to wish that he survives (Kass's song). Link likely fell because he over exerted himself and realized he didn't have to fight anymore. Even if link can do supernatural feats he is still mortal. On a differernt note. I love the idea that the shrine is meant for stasis because it brings up the possibility that Ganondorf could try to use it in the sequel.

My personal take on the bomb cutscene is that Zelda did make Link pass out, BECAUSE Link was already so hurt and Zelda wanted him to stop fighting. And, you know what helps heal you? Sleep. Now, not in this situation, obviously, but Zelda doesn’t have the time to make her Genie-level wish. It was probably more along the lines of “protect Link, kill the guardians or, more on point “SAVE Link”. The Triforce just did as told, with no specific instruction. And so it put Link to sleep in order to preserve him, and the Shrine of Resurrection helped heal his state, while the Triforce made sure his health didn’t degrade and allowed him to reach the Shrine without dying.

I think it's reeeaaallly likely you're right about the chamber being for the ancient hero, but it was confirmed in creating a champion that the clothes were left in the shrine of resurrection by the Shiekah when they put Link in. It's likely that, since they were on such short notice, they found the clothes in a nearby village instead of getting clothing that belonged to him, since everything he was wearing was barely salvagable.

At the very least Zelda understands the definition of "critically injured" better and sent Link to the shrine of resurrection which is basically their version of an ICU. For anyone who doesn't understand what is being discussed, MaskedNintendoBandit incorrectly defined "critically injured". A more correct definition would be: being in a state of heavy injury requiring immediate medical attention. A critically injured person may likely die if their injuries are not treated immediately.
@SSJSwole
@SSJSwole 2 жыл бұрын
@@r2020E that would mean he’s right though. In the moment where Link was critically injured, there was no one else around to help Link or give immediate care. The Sheikah Warriors showed up after the fact, so Link was definitely as good as dead prior to that, since his injuries could not be tended to immediately in that moment when he was alone with Zelda.

One issue I have with this theory is the fact that Link was originally wearing his Champions Outfit when brought to the shrine. Ultimately, the Champion's outfit ended up in the possession of Impa. Its likely the Shiekah left him whatever clothes they could find that would at least fit Link when he awoke. Hence why he can wear them despite them being a bit small.
@BonaparteBardithion
@BonaparteBardithion 4 жыл бұрын
That was my thought. Not sure why they didn't just leave him his Champion's outfit (feeling sentimental maybe), but the clothes they left him were likely scavenged from the belongings or even the body of any of the thousands of people escaping the Calamity. Still over 100 years old, but not really significant. From a game design perspective, they're deliberately awkward looking to encourage you to try new stuff.

You know what this video makes me think outside your theory, that if breath of the wild is located in an especific timeline, it definitely has to be the downfall timeline, why? Because why would they build a shrine of ressurection if they haven't seen the hero fall before, that only happened in that timeline, and to add more to it, the botw 2 trailer reveals ganondorf the man be present in this timeline, in the other 2 timelines ganondorf the man was destroyed in ww and tp, impaled by the master sword, and was never seen again, just ganon the beast. By that logic this is the only ganondorf that hasn't been destroyed.
@mattlawrence6077
@mattlawrence6077 4 жыл бұрын
zalado it is not confirmed in either timeline that he died. It’s left up to you the player to come to your own conclusions. Btw Ganondorf(man) Ganon (beast) Same being. You don’t have to say “ganondorf the man” The shrine wasn’t for the hero it was for ganondorf. Used to put him in a stasis state to prevent his reincarnation.
@saladoc
@saladoc 4 жыл бұрын
@@mattlawrence6077 No, in that timeline link definitely died, "he was defeated" but we know what defeated means, that's why it's called the downfall timeline officialy. As for ganondorf, it's important to separate the human form from the beast, mainly because in wind waker ganondorf notices that he's doing the same cycle as before, it's like he was aware of the influence of the curse he has, and when his human form is destroyed, it never returns, only the beast part (I think only in four swords a new reincarnation is present, but as far as I know he doesn't even show up) As for the shrine, I don't know what you are talking about, I wasn't talking about the room that appears in the botw 2 trailer, I was talking about the shrine of ressurection in the beggining of botw

Ganon and ganondorf is the same exact being. That takes a human form and beast form. All I was telling you is that the man is called ganondorf. The beast is called ganon. You do not have to write ganondorf the man because the name ganonDORF is the name of the man. And ganon is the name for the beast. Same being.. the name distinguishes them. Your theory makes total sense! I have something to add to it though. See the sheikah know that there's a cycle that has gone on for a very long time between Zelda Link and Ganon. The purpose behind the technology was to help combat Ganon alongside the hero and princess. But knowing what they did they realized they could control the cycle and let it happen whenever they decided it to instead of letting destiny decide when and how it'll happen. Instead of letting both Ganon and link come back at unspecified place and times. Which is why instead of killing him they trapped Ganondorf they way we've seen in the Botw 2 trailer. And like you said they were going to do the same thing to the hero and That was when the current king realized that this had gone too far and banished the sheikah before they could trap the hero.

I'm a macabre person, so I have two theories on the fate of the 10k hero - one is more messed up than the other. The lighter of the two is this: Link is somehow that same guy. He was released from the Shrine of Resurrection as the signs grew closer, but since no one really seems to have hung out on the Plateau during the dawn of the Calamity, he wandered around without a memory until the man who adopted him brought him back to Hateno. This would explain why the chest clothes don't fit, but also why he's a veritable beastgod before the Calamity. The clothes no longer fit him because he has grown since his first recovery, he's a master swordsman as a child because he was already a master swordsman before he was adopted. The sword selected him because it was his sword. He forgets after a Century because it's been 100 years and he was never supposed to be put back. The Darker idea is this: The reason the Sheikah were banished was because the people of Hyrule were horrified at their final measure to safeguard against Ganon - essentially vaporizing the 10k Hero's body to preserve his mind and experience. The hero agreed to sacrifice himself so that his psyche could be partially imprinted on the next hero, thus allowing them to essentially double the Hero's power. So they were anticipating that someone would remember to chuck the next hero in the Shrine as soon as he was discovered so they could supercharge him. Now, people don't generally like learning that their hero has been unmade, even to protect them, so they went ape on the Sheikah, who tried to preserve the knowledge through oral tradition, but that's... unreliable. The clothes were set aside for a future hero, but belonged to the previous one. Links memories disappear because there was an attempt to overwrite which failed (10k years would have brain structures evolve somewhat, the old thought patterns became incompatible with the new brain). He can now enter the Shrines because they recognize him (not the slate) as the Hero they were built for. Only Fi remembers.

Exactly. And i find that both versions of the story are true since stuff this rich tends to have alot of grey areas that are chalk full of rabbit holes lost to time or so well hidden. The sheika and any other hidden individuals and races we dont know about must know alot. Its just up to us to put it all together. We dont always need the say so from the makers themselves for sometimes writers can get too clouded with their own creations. 💖💖💖💖💖

Was coming just to comment the same thing (in reference to your second theory). I like the idea that the 10K Hero basically became "Soul Juice Ex-Machina" for the next hero to inherit. Which also makes me wonder -- is it possible that the Sheikah/other ancient groups decided to attempt to seal Ganondorf away? They would not know or weren't sure if the Hero would be okay after being in stasis for who knows how long (possibly a side effect they discovered of the Shrine is memory loss gradually, i.e. he continuously forgets some things every time he would wake up from stasis), so they did the next best thing: seal the other being that would be reincarnated. I think at the time the Royal Family were deciding to banish Sheikah tech, they were only planning on sealing the Hero away, not vaporizing him into Soul Juice, but as you said -- no one likes hearing their idol is going away, especially if they were acutely aware of Calamity Ganon's possible reincarnation every 100 or so years. So the Hero took it upon himself, along with the research into the stasis, to suggest something else to a discreet group of Sheikah -- put his memories into the Stasis Goop, so that the next Hero can inherit his will and memories (again, as you theorized). And once the Royal family found out what they'd done, that was the turning point, which brought the hammer down on them and got their tech banished. But not before they sealed the new Ganondorf away -- who had been discovered (most likely ~20 years after the sealing of Sheikah tech began); so the Royal family, with no new Hero (and possibly no new Princess of Hylia's Blood who could wield the sealing power), implored some Sheikah technicians to help them seal Ganondorf away, hoping this would break the doomed cycle they've been repeating for ages.

Okay! My theory. What if (I’ve said this before) that Ganondorf was the hero 10,000 years ago. That hero had red hair. So what if he was intended to lay dormant in the shrine but the royal family had other plans. They took him out of the shrine BECAUSE of his origins and they feared him( being a different hero than the rest) then they sealed him underground. THEN they run the sheikah off! Could also explain why he looks like a redead because of the effects of the shrine of resurrection. That would also make him aware of ALL the tech.

Aside from the incident that put Link into the shrine, I had a thought occur while watching the portion of the video discussing the shrine itself. It's very clear to me that the uncovering of the Shiekah artifacts was relatively recent. It's entirely possible that Link himself could be much, much older than even the hundred years he was in stasis. Considering we don't have much of Link's history before becoming the man he was before Calamity reawakened, I don't think it's much of a stretch to speculate that maybe he emerged from the Shrine as a kid and went on to roam around forming new memories and heroic feats. Even a hundred years in stasis was enough to wipe many memories to the point of requiring some jogging to come back, why wouldn't 10,000 years just completely wipe his memory plus some sort of suggestion to forget the Shrine itself? Dunno how sound this is, but it strikes me as being possible. Especially since the Hero has been shown multiple times to possess some crazy potential even as a child. Plus that would explain somewhat about the clothes being too small and of much older style. He was much younger when he was sealed the first time around and back then they fit. More than likely though, the clothes were just some old things the shiekah had lying around that fit Link even if they were a bit tight.

i think that link probably died from the consequences of the outburst of zelda's power (i.e. debris) instead of the power itself. if zelda can activate her power at will, that means she should have a certain measure of control over it, and she probably wouldn't have intentionally hurt link. he could have definitely still been killed by the power, but that's just my take on things.

Pretty solid theory. It makes a lot of sense. I imagine the hero of 10,000 years ago simply wasn't able to be put in the shrine because of the royal family forbidding the use of the tech. They probably just never bothered to recover his stuff from the shrine after they shut it down. And I think Zelda might have waited so long to reawaken Link because she wanted to give the world time to recover from the calamity so there could be infrastructure like the Stables for Link to use. That kind of support system did give Link a better chance while exploring Hyrule and gathering his resources. Maybe even she wanted to give Robbie enough time to finish his work so Link would have all that ancient tech gear at his disposal for the final fight.

Your "Shrine of Resurrection was made for the first Hero" is clever, and I like it a lot, but what if the Shrine, or some version of it, was initially built to keep Ganondorf alive after he was defeated far beneath the surface? Keep Ganondorf alive but incapacitated so that he can't reincarnate in a few hundred years and continue to thrash about ruining an unending Golden Era? Does anyone have any sort of evidence supporting/condemning such a theory?

I don't think the Shrine of Resurrection was meant for that just based off the size of the bed. It's perfectly sized for Link, so Ganondorf wouldn't fit. However, I do think the same concept is used in trailer, where Ganondorf is trapped. I think there's similar tubes like there is in the shrine of resurrection (not sure though, can't remember)

Remaining entirely neutral on the whole Zelda's power theory, I think there is some evidence in favor of it, but there are holes. For example, in the cutscene where he goes down for the count, he isn't just knocked to his rear. When we see him getting up before Zelda unleashes her power, he's visibly stumbling or at least having difficulty getting back up and standing. When he's at zero stamina and/or one quarter heart in gameplay, his footing is still pretty steady, and he's about as steady getting back up once he stops ragdolling. This means it is possible that he was acting outside of normal stat parameters during that time. Whether this means pulling a Galuf or the health and stamina argument is just an instance of the gameplay being separate from the story, it is still nonetheless possible that his injuries were indeed beyond what would normally be survivable even for Link, and that the blast simply sped up the process. As for how he could have gotten to that point, imagine having to fight twenty or more guardians (with desynched lasers) using a broken Master Sword (as we see the state it's in quite prominently) and no shield while protecting Zelda until she was able to finally figure out how her powers worked... And most likely out of food, meaning no health or stamina recovery... And being constantly in the run. Even the Hylian Champion himself could, in theory be overwhelmed eventually. In regards to the Shrine's purpose theory, it is entirely possible that the minimum time it takes for the Shrine of Resurrection to restore someone could be determined by the severity of the injuries or ailments themselves (example, a minor bruise would only take a few hours at most but almost being deader than dead would make you take a bare minimum of a century).

OOOORRR! It was because the sheikah towers had to go underground to hide from Ganons ability to taint them! And because they went down, let's say they were used as amplifiers in a network to power the resurrection device and so it took so long because it was running on very very low battery!? We know the sheikah tech is all connected...

But I have just one thing to point out about the clothing in the Shrine of Resurrection: they are the same as the monks in other shrines wear, and they are also a little small for them. Extra addition: gannon can corrupt sheikah tech, right? The resurrection chamber is sheikah tech, right? So, there WERE two, maybe even three resurrection chambers for the whole triforce, gannon corrupted and took over one, and zelda couldn't remove gannon from the cuccoon, so she held him there, gannon probably didnt know about the other 1 or 2 chambers, and just took over the one in the throne room! (Maybe the throne was the version of the bed, but they need to activate it so its a throne they can still sit on without comas!)

Hey MNB, I absolutely love this video, but your theory seems to contradict itself. If Link was damaged beyond repair thanks to Zelda, (which I believe IS highly possible) then why was he healed when placed in the shrine or resurrection if the shrine was only meant to keep the ancient hero in stasis until they needed him. I think it’s highly unlikely that the Sheika built the shrine of resurrection with healing powers if they were intending to put a fully healthy hero in it. If Link was damaged beyond repair, the shrine of resurrection would have to have healing powers, but I just don’t see that happening if it was meant to only be a stasis chamber. Idk, maybe I just missed something. Love ya MNB!

HP/hearts in Zelda basically have to be a point of gameplay and story separation. We don't see Link staggering or getting clumsy when he's taken a lot of damage because with the gameplay the developers were building, that would be a huge pain. We also never see him with scratches or covered in mud in-game, but we see both of those in memories.

You know how there are some theories that Breath of the Wild is at the end of all the timelines, brought together by Hyrule Warriors? One of the problems some people have with the timeline is that the hero can't both fail and succeed in that timeline, so it must not fit the game--even if the game itself shows many aspects of different games from different timelines. To make a hero that reflects all the timelines, they needed a hero who could both fail and succeed. But with the Shrine of Resurrection, this is made possible. Link "failed" the first time by not being able to defeat Calamity Ganon, then when he is resurrected, he also becomes the hero that succeeds. Resurrect means to restore a life--but he'd have to have lost his life in the first place for that to happen. The act of resurrecting reflects both a failure and a success.

I feel like both ending questions have a pretty cool answer. The hero who sealed Ganon 10,000 years ago either refused to be put under, or the Hyrule royalty tried to get him back early or something and tampered with the machine, leading to his death and the sheikah exile. Also, a body heals while alive, not while dead; Zelda didn't wait to revive Link, she waited for him to be physically well again, enough to do his duty

I believe the shrine of resurrection was made for Botw Link. Whoever left the clothes could have assumed that since he is the reincarnation of the hero he would be the same size. The reasoning why it woke him up 100 years later is because it was set to 100 years. There are four key players that helped Link that needed to be put in place. Sidon, Riju, Teba, and Yunobo. Link only got aboard the divine beasts without their help. If he woke up from the shrine too early they might not all be in the position to help Link thus making him wait till they can help. Yunobo and Riju seem to be quite young so they might not have even been born yet if he woke up too soon. I believe they knew that Zelda could stand her ground for a hundred years so Link would have the best chance of getting on the divine beasts to free them. So they think that Link would wear the same size clothing and leave the clothes there for him. Then they make sure the shrine will awaken him at just the right time to be able to meet the ones who will help him on his journey. Edit: Also I didn’t realize this video was a couple months old so correct me if I am wrong on anything that might have been thought of more recently.

I like this theory but I still disagree with the theory that Zelda caused link to collapse. Zelda’s power is pure of wisdom and her whole intent was to protect link so whatever she was wishing in her head was for the soul purpose of saving and protecting Link. That’s how we’ll win. Not by killing what we hate, but saving what we love. I think it would also be a bad idea to connect things from our world like comas because lets be real, Hyrule is nothing like earth.

One thing to point out that backs up your idea that Zelda may have unintentionally hurt link with that blast is what happens after she realized he was on the ground. She goes to his side and pulls him up and he starts coughing immediately. Meaning that blastwave smacked him and caused him to fall down and lose his breath (and most likely consciousness) hence the coughing. You dont cough like he did when you lose consciousness normally unless you get hit by something. When you lose consciousness normally (like normally as in not being hit by something) you just.....wake up and try and figure out what happened. He didnt do that

This is an interesting thought in general, keeping a hero in stasis makes a LOT of sense given one of the timelines in Zelda history. In the timeline following Ganon's defeat by adult Link in Ocarina of Time, the Hero of Time became a figure of absolute legend. After defeating Ganon, he disappeared. But the legends said that he had the ability to travel through time, so everyone assumed that he had just...done that again, and when evil arose, the Hero of Time would travel from the point that he had just defeated Ganon to kick ass again. Of course, that wasn't the case. The Hero of Time had some pretty strict limitations on his time traveling, and what actually happened was that he was sent back into the past by Zelda to relive out his childhood. So, when Ganondorf is resurrected, no hero appeared, and Hyrule had to be sealed away and then flooded to hold back Ganondorf's advance. I imagine that could have left a lasting impression on the Sheikah, who even through all of that time still survived in some small, small measure, and once they started inventing technology they took the opportunity to ensure that something like that didn't happen again. Making a stasis chamber to keep the Hero alive and on call, so that they never had to worry about a time that Ganon was resurrected and a Hero never appeared.

Personally, I think that in normal gameplay link is rarely ever fighting at his full strength, the reason I think this is because of the yellow temporary hearts and stamina, and how link obtains them. Link gets yellow hearts and a yellow stamina wheel when he gets a good nights sleep or consumes food or drink with *very* strong healing properties (a single hearty truffle can be used to create a dish that fully heals link, and adds 1 bonus heart). When the human body exerts itself it recovers pretty quickly, up to a point, at that point, extended rest (like a good nights sleep) is required for the body to fully recover, so I think that the yellow hearts and stamina are actually links body operating at its best, and the normal red hearts and green stamina are just the point where his body can recover quite fast.

I know this video is kind of old, but I was wondering... we already know that the Shiekah tech was designed for preparation, and combatting, that being said the tech would probably be returned underground. So does that mean that the reason that Zelda waited to seal Ganon until after Link reawakened was because she didn't want to loose Link? Just a thought.

Makes sense. Chamber holding gannon was probably the same as the shrine of resurrection, but for Zelda, so the two of them could wake at the same time, and not in the same place as a fail safe. It just looks red because it was corrupted. If your theory about the blights being the heroes is right, that could make sense if the fallen king was put in the castle one, then it got corrupted.

What I didn't notice was he didn't mention much of the events that happened after calamity ganon broke free, and the cutscene where zelda breaks down with the two running. There was already a clear sense of distress, and maybe even combat link underwent. Not to mention, if there were even other enemies he had to fight off besides guardians, lynols and what not. Once you've physically exerted yourself so much like that last scene you can even see Link's knees shake as he tried to get into proper stance. He was at his last breath trying to fight, for what he believed in. With all of the running and whisk recoveries mentioned, I dont think it was specifically some sort of super power trait or anything like that, but either two theories, 1: the shrine of resurrection had kept him in stasis for 100 years and in that time had given him some sort of capability to recover faster, rather than a natural born ability, to aid in destruction of ganon IF he were to fall. 2: it's for game development, since who would want to climb a mountain then have to constantly sit and wait for a reasonable amount of time to recover, especially if you swing a large weapon in combat. It would be more realistic yes, but it wouldn't be as enjoyable. That's what I think at least, any opinions on this? ( I know I may have gotten some things wrong it's been a whole since I played and I did just wake up)

I’ve a theory why (other than the initial set of clothes) every piece of clothing found fits Link perfectly, even the Old Man’s jacket (which should be way to big for Link). If Link’s mind was wiped as a result of being resurrected then maybe the Shrine programmed his empty brain with some basic capabilities so he wasn’t entirely incapable when he woke up - speech, motor skills, cooking... etc.. maybe this included seamstress/tailoring skills? This is why he’s able adjust any clothes he finds to fit him. Maybe the Shrine was originally for Rehabilitation of extremely dangerous criminals, not resurrection. Lock them away in stasis until they are reprogrammed and ready to re-enter society - like in Demolition Man. Actually there’s a lot of parallels between Demolition Man and BOTW: a disaster occurs that brings society to it’s knees; years later an evil force returns that the world cannot deal with; a hero is brought back to life to defeat the evil and save the world.... there also doesn’t seem to be any toilet paper in BOTW, although didn’t see the three seashells either... how do Hylians go to the toilet, you never see any outhouses or cesspit.... now there’s a mystery to be solved!

In addition of this theory, maybe the shrines meant to train the hero was also originally made for training the ancient hero after he wakes up. In fact, the ancient hero was really strong like you said, so I don't think he needed the training of the shrines, even Link in botw didn't use them in first place and was as strong as casual. Furthemore, we see that the shrines are only usefull one, because the monks desapear after giving link the orb, so the ancient hero didn't use them. The only case the shrines would be usefull is the case of the hero losing his memory and needing to relearn everything really fast, and this come back to your theory (Plus I don't remember seeing shrine on the old painting beside guardians and towers (only monks) when the hero beated ganon, so they were more likely created after the events, in this case (please correct me if i'm wrong)) (Btw, I hope it's understandable, I'm not use to express ideas like this in English)

People have been saying since Breath of the Wild came out that the hero depicted in the 10,000 years-prior battle has long red hair and looks more like a version of Ganondorf. Hyrule Castle has a resurrection pod (they call it cocoon but it's the same layout as resurrection pod Link uses) that Calamity Ganon seems to be using, and Zelda appears to be inside of the cocoon trapped with him. The Royal Family and the Shieka Clan eventually come to blows but we don't know why. What if The Shieka seemed to treat the ancient hero more like a weapon, and that putting him in stasis was seen as unfair or cruel, and that's what caused The Royal Family to turn on the Shieka out of trust. It could explain that is why there are two pods. The Sheika may have built the first one in Hyrule Castle, but then there was a fight. They went and built a second one where Link's Shrine of Resurrection is. For one reason or another, there could have been a third pod built deep underground, which shows up in the Breath of the Wild 2 trailer where we see The Original Ancient Hero waking from another similar layout looking pod. Maybe the original failed Ancient Hero is a different version of Ganondorf, who failed because he was tempted/possessed by the Calamity that they were all fighting to begin with?

The Sheikah DID put the hero in the Shrine of Resurrection to keep him in stasis but after they were forced out by the royal family, they had to move him somewhere else. A hastily built secondary shrine of resurrection that kept him alive, but didn’t work as well as the original, leading to a kind of corruption and madness in him when you find him in BotW 2 after thousands of years.

Maybe the reason it took so long for link to get ressurected is because the people designed the shrine to keep the hero in stasis for thousands of years, and because they didn't have time to act out their plans, they may have accidentally set a minumum of a hundred years time for the person to be in stasis for. Another theory is that it took that long for link to heal, but probably not because I feel like the sheikah wouldn't make it that inefficient.

I think this is wrong because it doesn't make sense from a narrative standpoint. If they wanted to imply that Zelda had been the one to put him down finally then they VERY much would have hinted at it more strongly. Link is more often described as almost unstoppably committed to his duty. He was clearly heavily injured by the time we get to his final cutscene, if the game allowed for blood then he would have been critically injured and spitting up blood. It's understandable as he probably just fought through what is basically the apocalypse worse than what happened 10000 years prior. Back then they had the guardians, the champions, the divine beasts, and likely entire armies to back up a fully empowered princess and hero. This time around it was just the hero, an unprepared princess against all of the calamity plus all the weapons they used to beat it last time. Link put up a valiant fight and literally defended the princess to his dying breath. Stuff like recovery is just game mechanics so they can justify monsters having high damage output.

What I think: The sheikah tribe was whole 10,000 years ago, there was no mention of the Yiga at all. During this era, they built all their technology, including the Shrine of Resurrection. However, a splinter of the Sheikah tribe was not okay with sealing Link (from back then) until the inevitable return, as per the legends of old. Civil War within the Sheikah eventually gave birth to the Yiga clan, some members having knowledge of the engineering of the Shrine of Resurrection. Seeing how the Yiga want the return of Ganon at all cost, minus precious bananas of course, it is likely that they have built a sub-par 'Shrine of Resurrection' themselves, which, being Sheikah Tech, Calamity Ganon could easily take over and use it for himself. Guess what we see in BotW 2's trailer? Sure there is no bed/bath in which Ganondorf rests peacefully, but there IS an altar... and something on the ceiling. Could this have been the first attempt at a Shrine of Resurrection by the Yiga for Ganondorf? Or is it the remaining part that the Calamity didn't grab for itself? What if I pull a Zeltik moment and say this is yet a third source for the Shrine of Resurrection... the Zonai's version. After all, there had to have been a prototype before either the Yiga or the Sheikah could make their own... Maybe this was precisely what it is, with extra protection so that Ganondorf remains in stasis, but cannot ever move again, because killing him just has the cycle repeat, and letting him live is too dangerous. Stasis was the only option... a super boosted stasis, which is one of the runes on the Sheikah Slate so they have the technology to stasis... just need a lot of power to make it last longer, which might be drained from all the sheikah monks and the altars they rest on in their shrines. Once you take their orb, they vanish, and their power goes away... In theory you want all 100 shrines, to serve as training for Link to regain his fighting abilities, so maybe you just unlock all 100 seals holding Ganondorf in stasis, and disrupting the shrine physically is what breaks the final seal holding him there. Maybe the original creator of those shrines designed it that way, expecting Link to be strong enough after 100 shrines to defeat the true Ganondorf... but they didn't expect the calamity, and no one's left to tell Link where Ganondorf is hidden... and yet they find him in the trailer... by scanning the shrine of resurrection and setting that as a sensor+ target? You'd possibly find 3... The one on the plateau... the one in Hyrule Castle... and one more. where could it be? Maybe in the Yiga Clan's deep pit? Only time will tell...

My theory about the hero from 10,000 years ago? When he was told that Ganon would return eventually and they built a stasis chamber to basically stuff him away and only bring him back to do all the dirty work all over again, he was like 'You know what? Screw this, find yourselves a new damn hero. I saved the friggin' land for the next millenias, I deserve to have a life of my own."

What if the corpse we see in the trailer for BoTW2 is not ganondorf, but the hero who defeated the calamity 10,000 years ago?

Great theory, i would love if the hero from 10,000 years ago turned out to be the decaying body shown in the BOTW2 trailer

I figured the Stasis chamber was like the Odinsleep. Doesn't die, just goes into a deep hibernation where the source of his superhuman abilities recharge.

Kinda makes sense. I just thought Links fatal wound was censored for younger players. Only Robbie mentions seeing a scar. Maybe, the clothes Link found at in the Shrine of resurrection where the only ones the Sheika could find on short notice? I'm trying to figure out how the Clothes of the Wild fit so well.

On Minute 2:30 You could see a Guardian Laser aiming at Link... I think the Laser Blast from the Guardian got to him at the same Time Princess Zelda use Her Power.

You'd think that the Sheikah would have at least confronted the Hero 10,000 years ago about their plan to put him in stasis before the royal family forced them to get rid of their tech. It doesn't take that long to ask a man if he wants to help save Hyrule again and prepare him for the 10,000 year sleep.
