9:11 There's actually another possible reason why the water hasn't frozen- its too salty. Salt water has a much lower freezing point than fresh water. In areas like the arctic, the water near glaciers has a higher salinity than normal ocean water due to the water forcing salt out as it freezes. Creating salt-less ice surrounded by extra salty water. As for how "Sparky" got there- it was probably eons ago. He probably swam free when the world was one big ocean in windwaker, and then as the oceans receded had to follow the sea water. Eventually he was limited to a small pool, and then came the ice.

One thing I noticed is that there is one zelda game that actually does not allow you to go underwater which is based of water and and that's the wind waker since link can swim but drown if he's in water for too long
@meleefox3218
@meleefox3218 4 жыл бұрын
Well... That is technically correct... While it IS true that we don't get to have actual gameplay of underwater exploration in The Wind Waker, we do go underneath the Great Sea to the sunken kingdom of Hyrule.
@meleefox3218
@meleefox3218 4 жыл бұрын
Also, there is actually quite a number of Zelda games that do not feature underwater exploration; Zelda 1, Link's Adventure, A Link to the Past, The Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, Tri-Force Heroes and (of course) Breath of the Wild all lack this simple, yet wonderful mechanic. Yet despite this, almost all of the games mentioned are still considered masterpieces and are looked upon fondly. P.S. I did not include A Link Between Worlds because although it is similar to A Link to the Past, I have not played the game myself and do not wish to make incorrect assumptions.

The walls look more like Luminous stone, almost exactly like the luminous stone surrounding Zora's Domain. I think this area may have been the original Zora's Domain, it did have a freezing problem after all. We could be looking at Jabu Jabu's bones. Yeah. This got me started comparing it to another not whale, bony Zelda monster who’s bottom half was not clearly seen. Cough Cough, Stalord. Yes he has a few small details differing them from one another, however most of these differences are differences seen in animals with different genders. Especially if you look at Stolords design you can see a slightly smaller identical horn as the one found on “Sparky”. Getting to the point I think the ice leviathan is a female version of whatever animal Stalord was, and was trapped for similar reasons. Thus explaining the difference in horn size and placement.

I actually had a theory about how all the timelines were actually different Levitathans dreams. And when the Levitathans died, everyone woke up in a united timeline, in where the Hyrule of Botw was created. So it would be the before Oot timeline/future Botw timeline, aka the only real timeline. Don't take me too seriously, this was a fun little idea I thought of in spring 2019.

The most likely scenario as I see it is that the cave was Sparky's nest and at some point the entrance to his cave collapsed, sealing him in. Possibly even being the cause of his demise. From there, sheikah researchers or archaeologists found their way into the cave through a crevice left open after the collapse. From there they built a stone entrance way for a safer access to research it.

I mean, there's the one for the Gerudo in the desert, the one on the near the volcanic cliff for the Goron and the one shown in the video for the Rito (mount Hebra, cold temperature and somewhat high altitude) But what about the Zora? Of course it's a stretch to say that absolutely everyone should have their personal mythical beast but it could be a nice way to introduce an underwater dungeon I'd see it in the lake sealed by the dams near Zora's Domain Why would they hide it? you may ask Well maybe they were afraid of it, or it could be a more physical issue Let's just imagine that yes, there is a giant skeleton at the bottom of the lake Now where could the dungeon be? Underneath it, and the jaw is the entrance (or maybe not, but it would be cool) The dungeon (or the dungeon's boss) could generate a lot of water, threatening to drown the Zoras or even the entire world Wind Waker all over again And the only way to stop this disaster would be to kill the dungeon, a great way to start a quest Or maybe the leviathan isn't dead and it's the boss or an ally in the dungeon! Or maybe I'm getting carried away But a live leviathan would be nice, we could see some campers around the lake saying that they saw an aquatic creature, very Nessie if you ask me That would be a nice touch, let me know what you think

There is an alternate possibility, one I initially thought was what you guys were going for - the skeleton was in ice that melted when the Shrine activated, bc once Link activated the Great Plateau tower power began running through all the Shrines and warmed up the area around where they popped out of the ground. So the water isnt all that deep, it's just melted run off from the now exposed bones. It could have gotten there in the first place by dying in a body of water that became a glacier that slowly but surely moved over the ground where the shrine had gone underground, and a landslide stopped it moving, eventually becoming the rocky part of the mountain around it with the icy base containing the Leviathan. The purpose built entrance kind of spoils this, but thinking about it as I'm typing it's not impossible that there was a building hosting the shrine like the forgotten temple does. It might seem like I'm coming up with this out of nowhere, but it stood out to me that the cave formed so perfectly around the shrine, which we know wasnt functioning until Link awoke and activated them all, and the water not being freezing cold (bc Link can swim just fine in it) implies it's relatively warm somehow.

Fun fact -40c is also -40f. This is the only overlapping point that regularly happens and that humans can survive to tell about it. It was also thought that -40 was cold enough to shatter teeth; but it was just people shivering so violently that their teeth break.

I've said this previously, the canyon that wraps the Northern portion of the map used to be a channel before the water was cut off by the obviously man made dam cutting off the water from the channel. The channel just so happens to be next to where "Sparky" is found and a deep water source is there...hhmmm. Hint: obviously man made dam has a portion of the wall that is unclimbable.

There might also be another explanation why the water in the cave is still liquid: it might be a hypersaline lake. For example, an Antarctic hypersaline lake called 'Don Juan Pond' contains more than 400 grams of salt per liter of water (as a reference, seawater contains just 35 grams of salts per liter), which prevents it from freezing even at -50C (-58F). How they are formed might also be important: most of them were pockets of seawater that were trapped below ice and/or rock for thousands or millions of years, and were uplifted to the surface by geological processes. Over time, more and more water was lost to surrounding materials and geological processes, but the salts stayed, thereby increasing the salt content of the water. This matches some important pieces of information: 1) Sparky is found in a mountain range and thus was, per definition, formed by geological activity and subsequent uplift. 2) The ice or rock-ice-material in the cave could've trapped the hypersaline lake for extremely long periods of time, judging how it is seemingly unaffected by the (hypersaline) water. 3) Since Sparky is a whale-like creature, we can assume it was a sea-dwelling creature. Therefore, it might be likely that Sparky (or its remnants) was trapped with the sea water. 4) Hypersaline lakes are able to perfectly preserve bones and even increase the rate of fossilization. Assuming that the water in the cave is hypersaline, I propose the following hypothesis: Sparky (probably dead or weakened) and the surrounding sea water was completely encapsulated by ice or rock by natural processes, and was buried for thousands or millions of years. Over time, water was slowly lost, leading to more concentrated seawater, which would eventually become a hypersaline lake. At a certain point, the still encapsulated lake was uplifted by tectonic shift/geological processes, together with Hebra Mountains. The empty/air-filled space in the cave could have been formed by natural drainage of the hypersaline water before or after geological uplift. After that, Hylians (or an other race) might have found the cave, built the gate and pavement, and used it as a place of worship.

Maybe you can do a video on the fact that only when the guardians in botw are infected by calamity gannon do they glow purple, but unless gannon somehow got into the trial of the sword, why would the final trials guardians be purple too, they should be blue and orange like when they are functioning within normal parameters. another note to ad is that the master sword trials are made by the SHEIKAH, and guardians are also.

Honestly, I initially thought the water didn’t freeze because it was saltwater. Didn’t take long for that to he disproven because A) there’s steam along the water (or it could be Link’s breath, hard to tell), and B) saltwater needs to be at 28 ish degrees Fahrenheit (-2 degrees Celsius) to freeze. Then I thought that maybe the skeleton was kind of excavated out, so people could examine it, since there’s archeologists arguing about it, that could mean more people went searching for them, and carved out Sparky. But then I realized that if you’re gonna be excavating something big like Sparky, you’d need supports, to lessen the risks of cave ins, and there’s no signs of Sparky being inside rock or having rocks grown on it, since that would affect the bones. But I do have a theory that could stand up, maybe: I don’t think the Sheikah worshipped Sparky. I think the Zora could’ve worshipped him, or… crapshoot, maybe the Zonai. The Zonai seem like the kind of people to have pilgrimages to worship giant whales. Plus, the stone entrance doesn’t look like Sheikah architecture, or Zora architecture; it’s blocky, sharp, kind of archaic.

The skeleton in the desert is likely a reference to climate shifting. There are whale bones sometimes found in deserts that used to be oceans. It's pretty kewl. The leviathans maybe died of a sudden climate shift brought on by the Ganon fight? The ice leviathan maybe died in a landslide caused by Revali's Divine Beast. It's possible that Revali missed a shot at Ganon and hit the mountain, sending a cascade of blue-laser-molten-rock down on top of the unfortunate leviathan, who was then trapped by the molten rocks quickly cooling surface, creating the cave around what once was the body of the beast. Also, always thought it was weird that the Rito lived in a cold environment, which is not typical of birbs. Maybe before Ganon was released, Hebra wasn't a cold climate?

I always thought that the Hebra Leviathan was terrorizing and eventually killed by a group of Zonai living in the Hebra region. The doors blocking the cave are distinctly Zonai-made, but there aren't any other Zonai ruins in the Hebra region, possibly because the Leviathan destroyed it all when it was alive. I think it was lured into the cave and sealed in there by the last surviving Hebra Zonai, where it eventually died of cold and starvation.

Because the wind fish's skeleton is in the Gerudo desert Link's awakenings ending is no longer a moral argument but a canon one. It happened because BotW said it did. Because the only way you are able to justify the ending Link's Awakening is that they're just dreams .... right? But the entire plot only holds up under the context that the wind fish is completely incapable of lying. Which I do not believe. Because if he doesn't convince you that the dreams lives don't matter then he stays in a coma forever. Which is why the ending speech seems less like "Thank you for waking me up" and more like "Okay here's why what you just did isn't like the biggest dick move ever". Dreams don't become seagulls! Who did that? Who made her be a seagull? Did Marin clench her butt cheeks together to become a seagull or did the wind fish have mercy on her? Mercy on what? She's not supposed to exist!

Another way for water to remain unfrozen in sub freezing temperatures is if it has a high salt content. The molecules of salt block the water molecules from forming their specific pattern for ice. Therefore, it takes a temp lower than freezing to form ice in water with a high salt content.

Personal theory is that the ice leviathan crawled into a larger cave but got frozen over explaining the ice around it. Then many many years later some people noticed and they started excavating to find out what this beast was. Later it became a sacred place and then the shrine was built there later. The water could also be connected to the hot springs located in hebra but at a distance so it doesnt freeze but doesnt heal link like normal hot springs. If not hot springs then the shrine might be releasing heat into the water for it not to freeze and cover the shrine with ice over time.

WELL, .... ok first thing first! Great Video from Both of you. Ok, back to well, ... >The water may not freezes because it´s salt water. That´s means not, that it have to be the "old" Ocean water. The water may drips through the rock and with it solved salt. >May the cave was once a big underwater cave, and the raised up because of the plate tectonics like the most mountains we have.
