Armageddon definitely had the better cast, but I think Deep Impact at least made an effort not to be over-the-top ridiculous. Also I'll never not be able to see Ben Affleck with baby teeth for the rest of my life.

It takes no effort to not be ridiculous. The opposite on the other hand demands rigorous preparation, work and effort.

The two movies have a different feel even though the setting is the same. Deep impact would have been great if it had taken out the astronaut plot line, given the viewer updates about what was happening in space via other characters or news reports on a TV, and stayed focused on the characters’ emotional response to imminent annihilation. Armageddon is of course an action movie and would have been improved by cutting some of the introductions and shallow predictable romance plots, staying focused on building up action and tension. Here is an idea - Ben Affleck is Harry’s son and Liv Tyler’s brother.

Armageddon takes itself unserious in a way that it fits the overall tone of the movie. Everything Bay did afterwards takes itself way to serious. This movie really feels like the most beautiful accident ever put on film and no one was harmed (exept Paris).

I like what he said at the end. Who really took Armageddon that seriously?.. it's like Ben Affleck said in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, "you gotta do the safe picture, then you do the art picture, and then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture 'cause your friend says you owe him."

I'll tell you why they had to teach drillers to be astronauts instead of vice-versa. Because Bay cannot imagine having scientists as his protagonists. He needs someone dumb, impulsive, rugged and simple. No way he would glorify what he thinks are nerds. He'd rather imagine how inapt they are at doing something way simpler than space travel than assume for a second that anyone rational and balanced may be his protagonist.

it's fascinating how many people enjoy the natural raw wild organic sensations mother Earth has to offer, but yet the majority of the population is not doing anything to demand from leaders that we improve upon and maintain the quality of standards pertaining to our air, water, foods, landscapes, working and living environment every day home products to be made manufactured mass-produced in a way that doesn't disrupt or diminish the quality of life, by leaving excess poisonous ,toxic, wastes behind you can't be pro-life if your doing business with outdated power sources, inferior materials, poisonous, toxic substances that have been scientifically classified, religiously verified as petrified death! Better known as coal, oil and gas the chemical industry. Which now that Donald Trump has been bought off and paid out by lifting sanctions and deregulating! Putting Caps ON restricting what the EPA FDA drug and food ministration, health and human services environmentalists can present to the public. Our air ,water ,landscapes ,working and living environments are going to be facing oil spills, gas leaks, toxins being burnt off in to our airways) much more frequent with less consequence which is going to result in, cause environmental financial global collapse. Combined with all the health risks that have already been established from business being conducted in this, low-quality outdated manner, by top scientists leading physician specialist the EPA,FDA, drug and food ministration Surgeon General's warnings. They say not to use a generator inside your house or car garage for carbon monoxide poisoning is a leading cause of death! So very soon you will have pipelines from coast-to-coast burning off this petrified death! It is basically bringing the generator inside our house. The oldest trick the Republicans have been using preventing these programs from doing their job is by defunding them. It's what happened the whole time during Obama's presidency it is irritating negligent that Democrats are not bringing these points out sharing these facts would Americans. Talk about play hardball! Talk about pro-life ,women's rights and gay-rights. How about the right to clean air, water, high nutritional value foods. Democrats are only bringing up social classification rights. There not hitting the fundamental rights which is air water, foods, landscapes ,working, living environment and every day home products being made with advanced materials resources substances, that are stronger, lighter more versatile easier to work with+ plus the + these products can freely be used manufactured mass-produced as much is the people need or want without leaving any excess poisonous waste behind. Democrats are pushing how important it is that women have the right for a abortion. Will do the fathers have the right to make sure the kids have clean air, water and high nutritional value foods available 24 seven. As ignorant as the Democrats are behaving right now, the Republicans are celebrating being vindictive. By doing everything they can to keep the majority of the population of Americans) overwork, underpaid, out of shape, sick weak ,desperate ,overfed' undernourished' with them dirty low-paying jobs, that come from outdated! Power sources) inferior materials, poisonous, toxic substances, pesticides ,chemicals that never change their killing composition.

What is the Resurrected Name of Father YAHweh’s Son we read about in Hebrews 1:4 ? 1 Father YAHweh, Who at various times and in different ways spoke in times past to our fathers through the prophets, 2 Has in these last days spoken to us through His Son, Whom He has appointed heir of all things, for Whom He also made the world; 3 Who, being the reflection of the perfection of Father YAHweh, and the +representation of Father YAHweh's PLAN, by upholding all things concerning that which was spoken by Father YAHweh through the Prophets, when YAHshua had by Himself purged sins, sat down on the right hand of Father YAHweh on high, 4 Becoming so much better than the malakim, YAHshua has by inheritance obtained a more excellent Name. YAHwehShua IsaYAH 62: 2 The Gentiles will see Your righteousness, and all kings Your glory. You will be called by a NEW Name, which the mouth of Father YAHweh will name. 3 You will also be a crown of glory in the hand of YAHweh; a royal miter in the hand of your Father. When YAHshua was made to be our sin offering as we can read in 2 Cor. 5: 18 But all things are from Father YAHweh, Who has reconciled us to Himself through YAHshua Messiah, and has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 Which means: that Father YAHweh was in YAHshua reconciling the world to Himself, not counting men's trespasses; sins, against them; and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 So then we are ambassadors for YAHwehShua, as though Father YAHweh were appealing to you through us. We implore you, on Messiah's behalf: Be reconciled to Father YAHweh! 21 For Father YAHweh made YAHshua, Who knew no sin, to be a sin offering for us, that we would become the righteousness of Father YAHweh, through Him. So why did YAHshua need a New Name? 1 Kepha 2: 24 Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, should live for righteousness; + by Whose stripes you were healed. When we understand that all the sins was placed on YAHshua this wonderful Name was defiled. When we read about those in the Scriptures that were so wicked we remember them by their names. Like Cain Nimrod Herod Pontius Pilate Yahdah Iscariot Caiaphas, the High Priest, So while YAHshua walked here living up to His birth Name there was a far greater inheritance awaiting YAHwehShua now has Father YAHweh’s WHOLE NAME Hallelu-YAHwehShua. Psalms 83: 18 Let men know that You, Whose Name Alone is YAHWEH, are the Supreme Head over all the earth! Psalms 148: 13 Let them praise the Name of YAHweh! For YAHweh's Name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven. Revelation 3: 12-13 12 He who overcomes, I will make a pillar in The House of My Father, and he will never go out of it. And I will write upon him the Name of My Father, and the Name of the, New Yerusalem which comes down out of heaven from My Father, and I will write on him MY NEW NAME . 13 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the called out ones. 1 Timothy 2: 3 For this is right and acceptable in the sight of YAHweh our Savior, 4 Who wants all men to be saved, and to come to the full knowledge of the truth. 5 Father YAHweh is One; and One Mediator between Father YAHweh and men: the Man, YAHwehShua our Messiah, 6 Who gave Himself as a ransom for all, to be testified of in the proper time. 1 YAHchanan 4: 1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, to see whether they are from YAHweh; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you will know the Spirit of Father YAHweh: Every spirit that confesses that YAHshua Messiah started in the flesh is of Father YAHweh, 3 And every spirit that +does not +confess that YAHshua Messiah started in the flesh is not of Father YAHweh. So this is the spirit of the + Anti-Messiah which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. 4 You are of Father YAHweh, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is He Who is in you, than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world; therefore, they speak of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of Father YAHweh. He who knows Father YAHweh, hears us; he who is not of Father YAHweh, does not hear us. By these we can know the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. When we call on the Resurrected Name YAHwehShua were are giving Father YAHweh the honor dew His Holy Name at the same time we acknowledge Salvation's PLAN had the Son YAHshua included from the beginning. Philippians 2: 5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in YAHshua Messiah, 6 Who, being in the form of Father YAHweh, did not think it was something to be seized upon to be equal with Father YAHweh; 7 But abased Himself, taking the form of a servant, made like men, being born. 8 And being found in fashion; appearance and conduct, like a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death: the death of the sacrifice on the stake. 9 Because of this, Father YAHweh also has highly exalted Him, and given Him a Name ( NEW NAME REV. 3:12 ) which is above every Name; 10 That in the Name of YAHwehShua, every knee in heaven, on earth, and under earth, must bow, 11 And every tongue must confess that YAHwehShua Messiah is King, to the glory of YAHweh the Father. Kepha and YAHchanan Arrested Acts 4:1 And as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, 2 Being indignant that they taught the people, and preached the resurrection from the dead through YAHwehShua. 8 Then Kepha, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them; Rulers of the people, and elders of Israyl: 9 If today, because of a kindness to a sick man, we are asked by what means he was healed; 10 Let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israyl, that in the Name of YAHwehShua Messiah of Nazareth, Whom you nailed on a stake, but Whom Father YAHweh raised from the dead by Him does this man stand here before you, healed. 11 This is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the +Head stone of the corner, 12 Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. . . . Because of this, Father YAHweh we shout Hallelu-YAHwehShua May Father YAHweh bless your understanding in YAHwehShua’s Name. facebook.com/bookmarks/pages?ref_type=logout_gear . . Many students of th

I worked in this film. I won’t reveal my role, but I will disclose a few things. One of them is clearly wrong in your video. The takeoff of the shuttle was shot with 8 Panavision Cameras and 6 CineAlta crash cameras (that were the first prototypes ever made), but the cameras didn’t work, so we ended up using Digital Betacam footage from NASA, doing a process called tape to Cineon, which was the ultimate thing back in the days where Silicon Graphics dominated the industry. The rest of the shots we did it at DD in Santa Monica, Rhythm & Hues in NY and several little studios in LA. actually, for the smoke effects we used 3D Studio MAX version 1 that was just released, just because at Siggraph in New Orleans I visited a booth of young kids from Princeton University who were developing a plug-in to do realistic fire and smoke, and it was used in both movies, Deep Impact and this one. Another secret was the huge fight that Michael had with John (the DP) at the corridor platform of the shuttle way high in the air. It was a nasty fight with lot of blood, and this is the reason why John stopped working with Michael. Another secret which also brings down a myth. The budget was very limited. 60 million that were evaporated after 4 weeks of shooting. Jerry and Bruce had to run to Cannes Market to collect 120 extra millions to be able to finish the film, and we were on hold for several weeks just because Michael Eisner and Michael (the director) couldn't be in the same room without engaging into verbal attacks. Anyway, there's much more, but I can't say it all.....if you do a video about Misssion Impossible 2 let me know and I can tell you what happened between John Woo and Tom Cruise.....that was really really bad compared to Armageddon.....sorry for the grammar mistakes but I’m writing from my phone…..

When doing the section about music...you missed something...The song "Remember Me" by Journey is NOT sang by Steve Perry...it SOUNDS amazingly like Perry...but was in fact done byn Steve Augeri who was brought in as lead singer for Journey for a number of years before finally switching to current front man Arnel Pineda... ;)

I'm just hear to ready the comments of idiots arguing the validity of a pure and simple popcorn flick. I dont know what it is about milennials, if it's not made by Disney you expect it to have some surprise twist ending, maintain realism, and provide some poignant political message. But when it comes to Star Wars and Super Heroes you're okay watching the same two story lines OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER...

Could you do some Things You Didn't Know on some of the popular Westerns from the 80s, 90s and 2000s? I'm sure under all that dusty landscapes, gruff voiced characters and drawn out shootouts, there's some fun facts. Personal favorites of mine from this era are: Quigley Down Under Silverado Unforgiven Tombstone Crossfire Trail Open Range and 3:10 to Yuma 😜

According to William Fichtner (who played Colonel Sharp), the first thing he did when he saw the famous "Requesting permission to shake the hand of the daughter of the bravest man I've ever met" line was to walk up to Michael Bay saying: "Mike, this is so dumb. I mean, it's stupid, I can't make it work! No actor can." It ended up being the line fans quote to him the most when they meet him.

Another thing you didn't know: Roger Ebert seriously named this film the worst movie of 1998. Even acknowledging the irony of how successful it was. Gene Siskel, on the other hand, actually gave this film a marginal thumbs up!

I think Michael Bay is not really a bad director, his movies have scripts that appears to be written by a child but his cinematography and way to conduct action is quite unique, and I dare to say good.

Bay can do kinetic cinematography and visual effects better than all but maybe two or three people. If he put that much effort into his stories and characters, he’d be one of the Masters, but they end up being so juvenile and ridiculous that he basically undoes his own work.

Armegeddon hate is a classic example of people being too pretentious at a dumb popcorn flick. It's supposed to be dumb fun, just enjoy the damn movie and stop analyzing why in scene 3 act 2 did Bruce Willis stutter over a line.

I provided stories for both Deep Impact and Armageddon, both modified from the same science fiction source, that won a lawsuit and rightly so. If they'd wanted originality, they should have paid for originality. They were supposed to come out at the same time. I also wrote the speeches for both films. Cool huh?

This video confirms that Michael Bay is an unchained maniac. I can't imagine what the insurance premium on one of his films is. If you do part 2, Cinefix, or any other Bay film, find that out. What was the insurance premium total for the production? Man, to be that agent getting that commission!

A spectacular film. For airheads. I remember doing a facepalm in the theatre when the smaller meteors exclusively hit the most famous and most populated cities, basically they were terrorist meteors. I'm too intelligent for Armageddon. Great song though.

say the asteroid is the size of Texas Texas is roughly 773 miles or so in East/west width and about 790 miles at it's tallest north/south distance plutos main largest moon Charon could just about fit that size description cause if I remember correctly I've read it's about 750 or so miles in width give or take a little and Pluto itself is close to 1450 I think almost twice as big So I wonder if specifically Charon let's say was on a collision course with earth and it was possible somehow for mankind to knock it off course I wonder what if we could cause it to hit our moon instead like referring to the movie when they sling shot around the back side of the moon coming up behind the asteroid how closely it came to it
