This whole Sierra Leonean series is proving most interesting. I find so often, though, that thoughts occur to me days after, and you have already produced several new videos. I would like to share a thought from a previous video here, where the dialogue is still fresh. While following your camera through the Big Market in Freetown, I started looking at the different facial expressions on the masks. A thought occurred to me later, that masks with different facial expressions were used in classical Greek and Roman drama. Even when Europeans first arrived on the shores of West Africa, societies were organized in city-states with their agricultural hinterland, much like Mediterranean Europe before the Romans came a-conquering and welded everyone into their one big empire. Maybe there are deeper similarities between cultures over different continents, if only one is looking to see them.

Because at one time the slaves / black people started out numbering Caucasian people and they felt some kind of way that it would become unstable in America so they sent them to Sierra Leone and also to Liberia so a lot of those people that are in those places are connected or are related to African-American out of Virginia Maryland and so forth and so on read the history of it.
