I started my locs at 60 years old It will be 2 years May 2024. Patience is the key. I spray mineral water and peppermint oil mixed and wash and retwist every 4-5 weeks. That's it.

I 100% agree with everything you said in this video, especially with what you're saying about this journey humbling you and perceptions. I'm a woman who was going to the shop every 2 weeks to get my hair done, whether it was box braids or feeder braids. I transitioned for 11 months and then cut my relaxed hair off and went straight into my loc journey. Now I'm 3 weeks in, and my hair is short, and I was almost considering loc extensions because I was initially uncomfortable with my new look. And considering perceptions, I've had negative comments about my starter locs from family, and surprisingly, positive comments from strangers! I started this journey for convenience and to encourage myself to be more patient.

I asked a woman at my job about her locks because I was very intrigued and simply asked the reason and she told me “I wanted to change the narrative on those that wear them” and I’ve been obsessed with the lifestyle ever since.
