I ordered my Eglu before deciding on a breed of chicken to get. Then I found Meyer Hatchery by chance and saw they had the breed I wanted. It's great to see you highly recommend the Eglu since that's what I bought! I am so excited to get my flock going.

I have chickens in an enclosure with a 200 foot fence around the coop for them to forage but needless to say, they have eaten all the greenery to where they have nothing but a dirt patch. (sigh) I can't let them free range for now because they won't stay out of the garden and ruin veggies so I am wondering what I can plant along the fence to grow up, under, and around it for them to eat. I don't want to plant anything invasive like mint but wonder what I can plant. I am in zone 7 of upstate South Carolina. What do you recommend that I can plant for them to eat to have greenery to munch on every day? Like maybe peas along the fence? Would they even eat those? Not sure what to plant for them. I can put planters right next to the fence for them to eat from but I have no clue what to plant for them.

Hi! You can plant wheat and cover crops around the fence area. Your flock would love to nibble on that. Lettuces are great too. In your planters you could do herbs and offer the birds cuttings for a few suggestions. Thank you so much for watching!
