This video is the story of the origin of the conflict between Israel and Palestine that we see to this day. We cannot understand the war between Israel and Palestine, nor how Hamas came to be, without understanding the origin of Israel itself.
We will discuss the origins of Zionism, antisemitism, the balfour declaration, the Jaffa Riots, the Palestinian Revolt, the Jewish Insurgency, the Bombing of the King David hotel, and MUCH, MUCH MORE!
Part 2 will come shortly!

The creator of this video told histories from both sides of the conflict and did not even sugarcoat any war crime or attrocities commited by both sides (such as attrocities commited by US and South Koreans during Korean War) , which helped me listening to the other side of the story and helped with my history research. An interesting point I noticed. Since in 1920 Riot, Jaffa Riots, and 1929 riots, and subsequent riots, Jews always suffered more casualties (Dead and Injured), while consisting less than 20% of the population. Didn't that mean the Jewish population was being brutalized by the majority population? So the Jews have some right to defend themselves, have civil rights, and be protected by the British? While at the same time, the open border that lets the Jews in, letting them have preferential treatment and all, in the end caused the Arab population to get disenfranchised, getting sidelined, and after a while being replaced by the Jewish population. What the Arab population does is actually try to protect themselves from being replaced by the immigrants coming to their land and taking their right. I swear I have seen this one before, must be Déjà vu

@PAIS-zz9yx good point. Jewish people was better treated in those episodes than they were in europe, And they started to buy the better pieces of land and displace the locals away. To this day we hear coming from the beacon of modern society the mantra "jews will not replace us" with those pathetic tiki torches. I loved when he said that American evangelicals believe that sending the Jews back to Canaan they will provoke the return of Jesus or the Messiah, that part was epic.

So I've been seeing a bit of map inaccuracies in this video, so when Britain colonized Palestine after the Ottomans feel, it was called "The British Mandate of Palestine" which includes of Israel (minus Golan Heights), Palestine, and Jordan. And in 25:09, when it shows Vichy France over Syria and Lebanon it also shows Turkey there too, which is inaccurate. Turkey stayed out of the conflict entirely. I don't want to send hate, I just want to point out some inaccurate stuff mapping.

A Few Corrections: 1. Theodore Hertzl was not the ideological face of Zionism. Despite being popular his ideology was unpopular and he didn't even want Hebrew spoken. By the time of his death Hertzl had become a minority in his own movement. The true face of early Zionism was Ahad Ha'am who advocated for a Jewish nation and was far more pro-Arab believing Jews in Israel should take after them. 2. The Jewish National Fund bought so much land because the Ottoman Empire had banned Jews who actually lived in the area from purchasing land making a 3rd party broker necessary. The Zionist movement had been very broad and I notice the voices quoted did not reflect the overall movement or its ideological leaders.

The lie of the 'purchased land ' and the land did not belong to the Palestinians was dismantle by the Israeli historians them self. When the documents from the archives of the ottoman empire was shown that 63% of the cadastral land had legal owners ( from centuries ) who used to pay taxes to the Ottomans and no documents was shown over the ' purchased land' from these Palestinians who were the real owners, than most of the Israelis historians abandoned the claim of the ' purchased land' . That's why Herzl went to meet with the sultan and asked to buy these 63% of the land owned by the Palestinians ( Arabs, Christians , Jews) and the Sultan refused categorically explaining that this land did not belong to him , but to the Palestinians.

You are making the incredible mistake of thinking zionism is about arabs. The focus was on getting legitimacy and land from the britiah who controled Israel, not the arabs, it was done mostly by purcheaing land, and partly by taking it when the arabs refused the 2 state offer and attacked Israel. The Arabs themselves, were never the focus, and zionism was not racist toward them. It wasn't even clonialist. Which country is Israel colony of? This is an incredibly complex topic. Unfortunately, this video does not analyze this historical event from a neutral standpoint. First of all, there is barely if no mention of the Jews who were on the land for millennia and resided in what is known as the Old Yishuv. Furthermore, without careful consideration throughout the video, it is stated that zionism is a colonialist project. This quote by history professor Alexander Yakobson perfectly describes where this argument collapses: "In other words, zionism was a colonialist phenomenon in all respects and fully resembled other examples of modern colonialism apart from the fact that it was a national movement, that it was not motivated by the desire of economical gain, that it arose out of Jewish suffering, and was realized by people who may be defined as refugees, that the settlers had no colonial mother country, and that the bond with the land of Israel was part of the traditional historical identity of the Jewish people. Otherwise, it is totally colonialism." Moreover, unlike what is claimed in the video. There was never a plan by the Hagana or the Jewish administration to expel Arab Palestinians from the proposed Jewish state. The reason why Arabs fled during the 1947 war is due to their initiation of a war to destroy the self-proclaimed Jewish state. Indeed, Arab villages were destroyed during the 1947 war, but none of that would have happened if no war had taken place. The fact that many Arabs after the war stayed in Israel should be an indication. Also Jews in the West Bank and the Arab world ended up getting displaced as a result of this war. Also, why is there no mention of the deportation of Jewish refugees to camps in British controlled Cyprus during WW2 due to the white paper? This is important information that could explain why many Jews viewed the British as an enemy. The reason why this conflict has not been solved for so long has to do with the Palestinian misinterpretation of Israelis. Palestinians see Israeli Jews as Europeans with no historical connection to the land and, therefore, should be driven out to the sea and never be negotiated with. Since Israel supposedly has no right to exist from the get go. This claim that zionism is colonialism only justifies the Palestinian perception of Israelis and would make coexistence and mutual understanding between nations impossible. (Even though, most Israeli Jews today are Mizrahi. Ashkenazi, Sephardic, and Mizrahi Jews have 20 to 40 percent Samarian DNA. There is a strong Jewish cultural connection to the land and much archeological evidence of ancient Jewish civilizations on the land.) The PLO drew inspiration from the FLN's fight against France to the point where they use the same tactics. Making it too costly for the colonizer to stay. But the French left, and the Jews never did because the French had somewhere else to go, but the Jews never did. The Palestinian elite understood the Jews completely wrong. They think that Israel continues to survive because of an empire. But what they fail to grasp is that the empire kept changing. It went from the Russian empire in the 19th century, to the British empire in the early 20th century, then the Soviet empire in the mid 20th century, afterwards the French empire after the Suez crisis, and lastly it became the American empire in the late 20th century. Because the Jews sought help from different powers for their own survival, just like many 3rd world nations. The British were not always on the Jewish side, especially when they voted against the UN partition plan that enabled the Jews to have their own state. Hopefully, some of this will be considered in the next part of this series.

@jasporflex1976 first of all, Israel has every right to exist and to defend itself; it s the Palestinians who dont. Secondly, tldr _ I stopped when you said zionism is not colonialism. You need to read more and inform yourself better . Zionism goes further than just colonialism; its jewish racial supremacy. It has embedded the same racism that jewish people had suffered throughout the story. You need to learn how to be more concive and deliver your message. Israel is a terrorist state that disregards Geneva Conventions, bombs UN buildings, hospitals, schools; accuses hamas of using human shields and guess what, IDF itself uses human shields. Israel wants to stop terrorism behaving like terrorist. The only way to stop this GENOCIDE is to provoke the international comunity to intervene. STOP PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE. STOP PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE.

One correction I feel is important: While Balfour did intend for the Jews to leave because of antisemitism, he himself was not motivated by antisemitism. The quote you showed was him lamenting the constant prejudice against jews as unfixable and potentially heading towards an even darker path, thus justifying Zionism.

5:21 you keep saying Palestinian. It’s Palestinian Arab. Palestinian Jews was a term back before Israel was established. Israel is simply the native name for the land and was renamed instead of using the Greek name. The reason Arab Palestinians continue using Palestine as the name of the land is because the Arab names for the land mean “Lower Syria” which is way to close to “Syria” in Arabic and other similar reasons as well.

The PLO drew inspiration from the FLN's fight against France to the point where they use the same tactics. Making it too costly for the colonizer to stay. It was a small band of about 100 people. Wasn't big at all. They knew that Hitler didn't like the Jews but weren't aware of the actual Final Solution policy obviously. Avraham Stern believed that they could overthrow the British, restore a Religious Jewish nation, with the help of Germany who could deport all their Jews to Israel. Once it became uncovered, obviously very famous people in Lehi condemned it extremely. People like Menachem Begin was a soldier in Lehi yet after World War Two never forgave the Germans and if I recall correctly turned down reparations because "you cannot pay off blood with money" or something along those lines.

Some historical inaccuracies 1. Making it look like the Jews started most of the attacks on Arab villages while the extremists hate was equal 2. Making it look like the *arab initiated* pogroms of 1929 was justified and that the British killed the Arabs out of prejudice and not because it was a literally huge terror operation 3. Making it look like the Hagana was also a terror organization beside the controversial Lehi Jewish terror group 4. *Calling the Arabs back than as Palestinians while almost none of them called themselves that way until the 60s* (ironically it was much more frequent for a Jew to call himself a Palestinian. 5. Using the Palestinian flag that supposedly represents the Arabs back than while it was invented in 1964. (The Israeli flag in 1896). 6. Showing the Lehi exploded bridges in the northern Egyptian border? Literally the easiest border to pass, also the Lebanese quite aswell. 7. The most common trick - “cherry picking” the information that supports your personal ideology and not the full part of some crucial information that was represented here, or “rounding up” numbers for your favor. There are more but I’m afraid looking in the video again will delete this comment😅 A real historian cannot be biased, a biased historian is a politician. I’m not saying that the Jews were ok, just saying that both side of each story should be represented equally and truthfully. When one side is worst, showing its true flaws will expose it. No lies or conceptions should be made in a historical work, or at all

6:15 Herzl. He purely coined the term Zionism. Though he was a little bonkers if you look at his life story and how he saw himself. One could argue that he was xenophobic to not just Arabs, but Jews living in Eastern Europe, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he also thought of himself as superior to Sephardi Jews. Edit: Why I say this all is because the people like Herzl have a perceived bigger impact on the state of Israel than people actually think. To attack him as a way to attack Israeli Jews is actually f*ed up, especially when there is little linkage to him.
