Hey Chris. Regarding Barry's tool of running the scales up and down, is this something you still do on every new tune you learn? How do you know when you're done with running the scales like that? I think I understand that it's to get the sound in your head but I feel like there's maybe more to it than that.

There isn't more to it than that. You need to feel how long each change lasts for. Running the scales are a great way to do that. Once you got it, you got it. The next step is to be able to play phrases using those scales and still staying in time .

At timestamp in 10 minutes 30 seconds on the D7 you're using two half steps is that because you go from F sharp to G and G is the 4th ; counting as two half steps?
