Think Bike - Harry's Story

On 21 July 2021, Harry Abbey was riding to work when he was involved in a serious collision.
Harry died at the scene.
He was just 19 years old.
Now - just over two years on - Harry’s mother and three siblings are bravely opening up on the impact losing Harry has had on them, with the hope that it stops any other family from having to go through the same pain and heartbreak they have.
Take the time to watch this video and encourage any young people in your life to watch it too. Remind them that they're not invincible and that their life matters.
If it can stop just one other person going through what Harry’s family has, then it will have done its job.

I just want to say the amount of respect I have for the police who deal with these situations. It’s not easy for these family’s I know. But these officers have a lot to deal with and it does take the toll on them too. I have been in a similar situation with Staffordshire police where they’ve knocked on my door regarding my father. All I can say is I have total respect for PC Gavin Knott from Staffordshire police. The amount of respect I have for the job he’s done the way he treated us as a family was fantastic. He made a very devastating time for us easier.

Sent this to my son, whose wanted a bike for years. He's 18 now and I have no control over whether he gets one. I've told him I'll be asking questions on this video, and some others, and that's my terms. He has to truly understand the risks and responsibilities everyone has on the road for themselves and others. I am petrified of him getting one, the only power I have is to do my best to educate him. The rest will be up to him, and unfortunately other road users. I pray he won't actually get one. I really do. Harry's sister said same as I have. In a car you have more protection. On a bike, even if you survive the crash, you're projected and may not survive where you end up. I'm devastated for Harry and his family. I never ever want to feel that pain through my heart like that. Thank you for opening up so parents like me can show our kids and also, keep it in our own minds when we're out on the road. You sound like an absolute nightmare. My mother was the same, nasty controlling narcissist and I missed out on a ton of things in life. Thankfully now I'm no contact for a few years. Hopefully your son does the same when he wakes up. What a nightmare you sound like to live with 😂

Harry life did matter, its soul destroying i can not imagine the pain his family had to endure. My son was good friends with Harry and I had to watch him break after Harry passed away my son was 17 at the time and its a lot to deal with especially at such young age. Harry will never be forgotten it’s certainly never going to leave my mind and most definitely won’t leave my son, my son had a bike and he never sat on it again after Harry’s accident, so it hit home really hard. The strength Bev and Andrew have showed is something to be admired. Harry forever 19 but never forgotten. ❤

OMG...i started watching this video thinking the lady was so familiar to me. As the video progressed....getting more upsetting. A picture of Bev and her 2 sons when they were younger popped up and it took my breath away. I suddenly realised that 9yrs ago i actually used to dust that picture in Bev's beautiful home. I worked for a cleaning company and used to regularly clean their house. RIP Harry xxx
