Guest presentation by Claire Anderson, Deputy Mayor of the Town of Victoria Park, Western Australia, author, life coach and mother of 12 year old Sabine. Claire was diagnosed FSH Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD) at the age of 14.
A truly heartfelt insight into her personal journey with FSHD at the recent Sydney Chocolate Ball, held on Saturday 28th June 2014.
The annual ball helps bring awareness to FSHD and raised over $700,000 to go to research in finding treatment and a cure for this disease.

My grandpa went through the pain of being diagnosed very young as well. he was told he was going to die at 30. but he lived to be 85 years old and could walk although with canes and such into old age. of course he was disabled and did struggle but he did live a worthwhile life for sure and had children, was a pianist, etc. the doctors painted this horrific future that thank god didnt come to fruition.

Thank you so much. I was in a bit of a funk lately. Right now after your sharing I feel invigorated, able to stumble on into next week. And as you say, fortunately we can predict the future and it is a bit scary. I know I have changes ahead because I've stretched this phase years longer than I expected to; but the time is coming for (yes, a little grieving, thank you and) getting on with my next inevitable adaptation. I've just got to focus on shifting my limited energy from denial (even though that has worked well) onto executing what I already know must be done. Thanks.
