Great vid. Always remember: when you're on a bike assume that you're the only person on the road who knows what they're doing and everyone else just got their lisence yesterday. Ride accordingly. This mindset has saved me from getting dumped in a ditch or wrapped around a pole more than once.

Great safety vids, credit to the UK Govt for making them. There's nothing like this here in Japan - drivers here are very indecisive, see you coming, wait, and then poull out right in front of bike, at last minute.

This ad is the same as my accident i had 4 years ago and has screwed me for life. I struggle to to sustain a run wake with paain in my joints when i had the impact with the car all because the driver didn't look before pulling out . in her exact word "sorry i just didn't look"

That was a great video. Required viewing for all new riders. I live in Portland Oregon, West coast of the USA and everything is exactly the same, rainy weather and all. Well, except our roads are wider and we drive on the wrong side. :O)

Last one's definitely the best, most helpful I think. And to everyone arguing over whether it's usually the car or bikes fault, I think it usually is the cars fault, but the biker can easily prevent it, all you need to do if you see a car getting ready to come out of a T junction is slow down in case they don't see you, and the chances are that'll be enough. I heard one guy (steelhorseclub on here) say a good way to think of it is just to assume that everyone is out to kill you, and I agree!

Sure they do, and some do blame car drivers no matter what, but many bikers will admit when they're wrong, even if the were breaking makes no sense for a bike. The big problem is that the code is made thinking about cars almost exclusively. Why wouldn't a bike be allowed to overtake on bends if it's slim enough to do so without going into the opposite lane? Why wouldn't a bike be allowed to lane split or ride the shoulder?
@MrSupercar556 жыл бұрын
Why would you want to ride a motorcycle on the hard shoulder? If the traffic is bad, a motorcycle can slip right through the gaps and disappear to the front of the queue, unless it's a Honda Gold Wing! 😂😂😂

MANY riders are safe, systematic, smooth and present NO danger to other road users- yet many drivers STILL treat motorcyclists- not as the vulnerable road users they are- but with contempt.. you seem like a reasonable chap and would it be fair of me to tar you with the same brush as such stereotypes as the school run-mums, white van man, salesman in a hurry, boy racer, red-light runner, mobile phone user, uninsured driver etc? of course not! you cannot lump ALL bikers into one category!

yeah… shame the ads don’t work here, old crone slammed into my side when I was on a roundabout and her excuse was that she didn’t see me and that it was my fault for being on a motorbike even though I had right of way. Fuck mini drivers I’ve almost been killed by 4 just at the start of this year.

thank you! but surely that is like asking, "how long is a piece of string?" perhaps i could ask in return why so many car drivers feel the need/think it is acceptable to use a mobile phone/fiddle with a satnav/text whilst driving/argue with a passenger/drive with one hand out the window etc.? or why lorry drivers do this? cyclists that?tractor drivers etc etc.. the only one accountable is the vehicle driver BUT as i said before, REGARDLESS of who is at fault the biker will come off worst
@COIcultist4 жыл бұрын
Years ago I was on a large roundabout and some young guys in a car 1/2 way pulled out I made a controlled stop and went into a massive meltdown. I explained how it was that "people are amazingly resilient and you can beat them beyond what you can imagine, and they will walk away unharmed. The next day you will barely tap them, and they will be brown bread (dead). You will fucking kill someone." How it was that it was a wet day and it was a greasy roundabout and my responses were limited. I was only on a 125 and the place where I had this meltdown was a shit area. Yet I suddenly realised these lads were listening to me and were a bit reticent. Always believe in hope. Still the strangest vehicle to vehicle incident I've ever had. BTW I'm no man mountain or able to intimidate people.

There is zero tv adverts that show the benefits of motorcycling in the uk, it reinforces society's mind and parents that they are fatally dangerous (any transport can be). Yet they dont show bicycles in this way which is far more dangerous than motorcycles. Motorcycles can be fun, mentally rewarding, more convienient form of transport, but ofcourse uk dont want to show that side.

And car drivers don't? Cars drive over the legal limit just as often as bikes, and unless they're just cruising around (which most people usually aren't) overtake whenever they can just like bikes, the only difference is that cars just don't get as many chances to overtake because they're so wide and slow.

Cool.. no i do not disagree with that fact... there are some serious nobs out there that make us all look bad but i think its a bit ignorant to believe that all bikers are like this =/ i for one.. am not, I just like you anticipate all eventualities. but when there is a collision it doesn't matter who you blame... in the end 9-10 times it will be fault on the car driver. In some cases it is the bikers fault for going to fast or for just being a complete twat. I see where your coming from.
@stinkomalinko12 жыл бұрын
Ironically, most motorcycle accidents are the cyclists fault.
