As you state, "it does not sound like a horn" or any Klipsch speaker with a horn, because it's not a horn...it's a wave guide. I agree with all your suggestions, and I will proffer my own...move the speakers out from the wall another foot or so...delay if you must.

I immediately noticed when I had my 160m's last year that they need a sub. Same with the 600s. When you add a sub, the mid-range on these open up A TON. I currently have the rp600m's as my mains, the rp 160m's on my rears, the rp450c as my center and the spl 120 as my sub. For my secondary system I have the spl100 and two rp160m's. I'm happy someone made a video like this

I am planning to add RP 600’s to my Heresy 3’s. I believe All speakers should be about ear level. It’s a “central ray” issue bc the audio leaves the speaker coned shaped.

I have a pair of JBL SP-150's that I cut a 4x6 18" long and put it on top of the JBL's. I painted the 4x6's red for a contrast and they look fantastic. Sound great as well. Currently I have a pair of Fluance Signature Series bookshelf speakers sitting on the 4x6's. I am replacing them with the Klipsch RP-600M's. Can't wait till I get them. Going to move the Fluance to rear surrounds. Also getting a Klipsch R25C to replace my Polk Audio SeriesII center channel. That should make a tremendous difference. I'm 62 years old and hard of hearing so the extra volume will come in quite useful to me. Not so much for neighbors. Oh well, they can get their own.ha

Why do speaker stand manufacturers make the top plates so small? All the speaker stands I've seen have top plates that are much smaller than the speakers placed on them.

My guess would be because they won't show up if you turn the speaker on the stands themselves. I don't turn my whole stand when I towe my speakers, so I don't want to see the stand tops whenever I turn the bookshelves. The smaller they are, the less noticeable they are when the speaker is turned

The bottom end doesn't "Suck" Strong to 45 hz, and flat to boot is amazing for such a small speaker. The 12" heresy rolls off at 60hz! Other speakers fake deep bass. The bass is "superb" for the size, period. They don't fake bass with a huge 60-80hz hump. What do you expect for a set of speakers under $500 a pair and with a 6.5" woofer? The bass, incidentally sounds as if it's an 8" woofer compared to most other speakers. That being said, yes- I add a 15" sealed sub, I don't like sound systems that lack 1st octave bass.

Carpet on the floor at the first reflection, 2 inch thick absorption panels at the first reflection on the side walls, diffuser middle rear wall, thick drapes on the windows, and bass traps ceiling to floor in the corners to stop sound cancellations /standing sound waves in the room. I also have an acoustic ceiling in my theater room but that can be overkill if you are on a budget. I also have 8 pound padding under my fully carpeted room to tame bass vibration from my SVS sub. All rooms are different so measuring your room will be crucial to treating it appropriately. Also too much treatment will make your room sound like an anechoic chamber room losing too much dynamics to your sound. Patience and putting treatment only were needed will give you the best sound for your individual needs.

@JilesMcCoy
@JilesMcCoy 4 жыл бұрын
I've not heard the 500s but my guess is that they will really take off with some low end support. You can configure the output of the sub so that it will compliment your speakers perfectly. The idea of a sub isnt to overwhelm your mains... but to support them on the low end where they might not be as strong. You can pair them with any sub that you want. Id love to hear how this works out if you go for it.

There are a number of reasons: * I want to get away from a bipolar setup. I like direct radiating speakers more for 2 channel listening. * I want to pull the subwoofer component out of the mains. I don't really like having powered subwoofers in my mains. I want to be able to move subwoofers around to best tune for the room. As long as my mains can play authoritatively down to 60 or 70 hz I am good. * These speakers sound better to me than the towers. * I think the new speakers look better than the towers. That all being said the old Def Techs are still great speakers. Hopefully someone wants to buy them!

Any recommendation on your part at $1500 max budget (at least 3 recommendation)? Appreciate if you can spend some time to respond on my message :) Thank you and more power to your channel! Cheers🍻

Get the 280f to get to the next level add a rhythmik sub or build a Dayton ultimax to get to the next level above that. And ffs, get a laid back amp like Yamaha to play the Klipsch. If you use a bright receiver like Denon it's gonna not sound very good.

Toe-in on speakers? That's the most ridiculous thing ever in my opinion once you take into account fluid/aero dynamics and realize how a speaker moves and alters the density of the air. Basically just like with a TV that you have a viewing angle, there is also a thing as listening angle. Some speakers are designed to be indeed pointed towards a single listener like studio monitors, but I never ever heard about someone applying that in a livingroom product. 🤷‍♂️

@austinaltmyer5935
@austinaltmyer5935 5 жыл бұрын
Idk if this would count as more power, but, back before I learned much, I just had my nice average 7.1 Onkyo txnr avr bi amped to the rp280f towers. No matter what there's dynamics, but I couldn't get bass . I figured 2 x 8 inch woofers, I don't get it. 4 years later I'm running the same rp280s but with a pioneer elite lxsc 701, bi amped using built in crossovers in the elite, but I now understand why they said it would be a perfect match, going from a much less powerful a/b class amp AVR to a class d3 amp . It retains a massive amount of power compared to an a/b amp AVR so if you increase 3db, 6db at 63hz in the equalizer, it actually has the efficiency to provide any amount of bass increase . Obviously they aren't rp600s , but the same example applies and it's insane that I can forget that my rp115 is off . Basically, pioneer elite bought me , adding bass to any Klipsch speakers 5.25in or larger lol. Good stuff. I'm sure these 600 bookshelves would have a great deal of headroom to equalize any reasonable bass needed with a similar series AVR and bi amped using it's crossover capabilities. I don't know why many others have not discussed the class d3 / Klipsch benefit.. I do wonder what the sub is though.
