I love Klipsch, and can only speak for myself, but they combine a nice look, a fun (very "American") attitude, a rock and roll/movie friendly sound that is really dynamic (but can still sound incredibly "live" and subtle), and perhaps above all, they're not overly expensive. It's many people's first speakers, reliable overall, maybe not the most high quality audiophile grade products ever, but a step into that world, and if you lean more rock/acoustic you may not even care. I think that first impression is a huge thing though: the ATTITUDE. They scream "I'm fun, I'm rock and roll, I'll shake your house but give you some beautiful moments as well".

Very well said. I can agree on all fronts even though I've only ever owned two pair of Klipsch. They're not my daily drivers, but I will say this. Every time I rotate them back for stand time, I wind up smiling, pointing at them, and saying (out loud usually) "this is why I'm keeping you around!" It isn't my favorite all-rounder, and their presence on the stands may in fact influence my listening choices to sources that I know will make them shine, but there's nothing wrong with that for me. When Klipsch are in their groove and happy with the recording, they just impress like few others can do, especially at the price. They're fun, dynamic, forward and frankly can tear your face apart a little bit (in a good way) when you want that. I encourage anyone that this appeals to, to give them a try. I bought 600m MKI on sale a year ago for $377 new and then rp280f for $800. Although my room isn't quite large enough for the dual 8" floorstanders, if I'm in the need of getting punched in the face there is no other speaker in my stable that can do the job better. They aren't perfect, but I wouldn't want to imagine a world without them. If presentation impresses you, these are the presence masters.

Have you tried any of Sonos flagship speaker sets? Curious how they might compare. I’m trying to get an idea if Klipsch will be right for me - wondering if it’s a similar (only bigger/better) sound to Sonos’ bright and detailed signature. I love classical and Jazz as much as rock, so it’s important that speakers are ideal for those genres. Planning to return my Sonos Arc/gen3 sub/rears and build an Atmos system with RP-600ms .. I also hope to find a sub as tight and controlled as Sonos’ Gen 3 enclosed style sub .. I hate boomy or overpowering bass, but the Gen 3 has been perfect - no vibration/rattle anywhere, just super quick, elegant and controlled bass tones that sound perfectly natural with the mids/highs.

I think Klipsch hit a sweet spot for Rock/Metal music as well as great for movies and tv. I'm and old guy who has suffered some hearing damage over the years. I find the extra brightness to help me hear the highs and voices. I have enjoyed hearing the things most speakers soften too much. I was really struggling to hear voices in movies and tv shows, I bought a pair of kf 28 towers and a Rc-62II center channel speaker and the difference was life changing.

I just replaced my Polk SDA tower speakers with Klipsch RP-8000F II tower speakers. Along with their SPL-150 Subwoofers crossed over at 60 Hz, they have advanced the sound coming out of my AV room with a louder, cleaner playback, and are easier for my NAD amp to drive. With a good 'bang-4-the-buck' value, I recommend Klipsch loudspeakers!

I really love the Klipsch KSP-300 and KSP-400 speakers. They have become some of my favorite speakers for various reasons. Inexpensive used, real compression driver, built in powered subwoofers for great low end running them in full range, and the woofers sound natural. I prefer them over heritage for general listening because they have better off axis response than a lot of those other Klipsh. I have noticed that the tweeter roll off early so I boost 16kHz, however, it is a small trade off for the pleasant response as well as the nearly flat group delay across the 100hz to 20kHz area which is really cool. I think that's why they have a certain realism.

I think Klipsch’s stellar marketing strategies is why they are loved by so many. That and the look. Does anyone else have copper woofers? 🤷‍♂️ Before I even started my channel, I basically knew a couple of brands besides Klipsch, but was hell bent on owning a Klipsch home theater system. I know not everyone will take the time to create a home audio KZbin channel just to become more familiar with more brands (😄), but the fact that Klipsch was already on my radar as a home theater newbie tells you a lot about their marketing prowess. 🤘

From what I’ve seen from multiple reviews, the Klipsch RP series is geared more towards home theater. The Heritage lines are geared more towards music. The majority of reviews typically use music to test them vs using movies. I have a full Klipsch RP 11ch setup for my home theater, and I use the RP600M’s for both front L/R and rear surround.

Good review...here is my personal heartburn. I had the Elac DBR. They had GREAT midrange and nice bass. My pet peeve was the soft treble that lacked impact and resolve. I bypassed the tweeter cap with a .01uf mylar cap and there was a vast improvement, but it was still too weak compared to the rest of the spectrum. The 600MII (which I don't own) do appear to be a BIG improvement over my former 600M which were too harsh for near field. They also had a tweeter/mid dropout at the crossover where they lacked the resolve of the ELAC. The 600M were sold and I got the ELAC. I no longer own the DBR due to it's lack of a proper top end.

Any 600m II owners here who’ve also tried the Sonos Arc + Gen 3 sub + Rears set? The Sonos Arc/Sub w/ ERA 300 rears is the first decent sound system I’ve had in over a decade and I’m loving the sound but I’m considering exchanging them for some better, longer lasting passives. Just curious if the Klipsch will have a similar sound signature to them, but only a much bigger and wider stage?

Because some tweeters are designed to play a little on the bright side with that manufacturer. Yes there are musical instruments and elements that benefit from those tweeters people want to hear. That is why it is important to choose specific speakers that closely match the types of music you listen to most frequently. There are speakers that are best suited for different genres. Rap- hip hop, vocals, rock, classical symphonies, Operas, etc etc. Most people don’t have 60K plus to spend nor the room space for such speakers that typically can play it all. That is like the new rave BS fad HiRes audio. To play HiRes audio..?? You are going to pay a “KINGS” ransom for equipment that can actually play that.

RP600's are just okay at $400/pr, definitely not at $750/pr. I had to dust off my mid 90's Pioneer receiver(super bass button 😂) and tilt the speakers upwards slightly to get the sound I wanted. They're just too position sensitive for music listening as I go about doing things within the house. I'd probably be happier with some Polk ES20's now after doing a little more research and figuring out what I really want out of a speaker.

When someone asks why I like Klipsch, these don’t come into my mind. When I think of Klipsch, I think of the Heritage models, still built in Hope, AR. Forte, La Scala, Heresey, etc. That is the sound that Klipsch is known for. A whole different ball game. There are scores of Chinese made speakers that compete with and compare to the ones you have reviewed here. They have a horn but these don’t have the real Klipsch sound. People need to listen to a pair of their Heritage speakers one time and they will understand. Listen to a pair of KHorns and your world will change.

I wouldn't look at brands as much as I would look at individual speaker models. Try to get an idea of how a speaker might interact with your room based on the size, how reverberant it is, where you will place the speakers, and where you are relative to the speakers. Once you understand which characteristics of a speaker will work best with your room, then decide. As someone who just bought a pair of 20 year old Klipsch RF-5's, I can definitely see the appeal of Klipsch and the distain people have for Klipsch as well. I can't think of another speaker company to do what Klipsch have done in the past 20 years. We're talking about an already established speaker company becoming bigger players decades into the game. Usually it's the other way around. They came up with a modern look around the 2000's with their copper colour, they continued using their signature sound and they flooded the market with looks and sound. Klipsch was never about being the most accurate sounding speakers. They created a sound that a lot of music sounds phenomenal being played through their speakers, with it's own set up drawbacks. So, take looks, quality, sound, brand, price and you have a winner. They created a niche that was more than a gimmick. As someone on a budget, I've heard things through my Klipsch speakers I've never heard through any of my other speakers. Voices absolutely jump out in a good way, while having good low end bass. There are times where things sound a tad bit megaphoney, but that's there only drawback. Anything else I can fix with a little eq and room placement. I was just listening to your bookshelf comparison and the vocals sounded a 100x better coming through the Klipsch. That's what reminded me to write this message. Every other speaker, the voice sounded a little muddied in the mix, but damn, the Klipsch there was such separation!

Why do people like any speakers..?? Speaker reviewers are influencers. People buy speakers without ever listening to them firsthand. Mixing audio components and speakers gives different results. Many different types and designs of speaker crossovers give different results. Every year many speaker manufacturers come out with a new modified version of the previous version.

@@34332 There's no ultimate truth because there are variables and unknowns such as the person's room, where they're going to place the speakers, where they're sitting relative to the speakers, their personal preference etc. An anechoic measurement is very helpful since a good speaker in a bad room will likely still sound better than a bad speaker in the same room. Why companies are obsessed with making bookshelf speakers with six and a half inches speakers? Who limits them? I just imagine bookshelf speakers with at least 8" woofers or even better 10" woofers, then we will not to ad a separate subwoofer, they will look t terrific nice in a pair of stands!! With nice punching Bass, and they should call them FLOO-SHELF speakers, a mix between floor and bookshelf speakers.

Good review. No offense, but the words Klipsch and Reference should not be put together. Ever. They may be good for old hard rock and roll, or old pop music, maybe electronic (not real sound) music, but to me they always sounded harsh, not real. I play real live music. I want that real, professional, live band sound. Klipsch sounds not real to me. But if you like that sound, you should get what you want. They are well made speakers and last. But their spl specs are false. I prefer a studio monitor, balanced sounding speaker.

@joentell
@joentell 2 жыл бұрын
Like I said in my video, the room determines so much of the sound, it's important that a reviewer understands how much it affects what they hear. I even said, the bass sounded weak in my large room, but it might be the exact opposite in another room. That's why I value the anechoic measurements done by guys like Erin and Amir. Once you can separate what the speaker is doing from how the speaker is interacting with your room, the better reviewer you can be. Muddled bass is vague to me. There's a bump in the bass centered around 100hz as you can see on these graphs. www.erinsaudiocorner.com/loudspeakers/klipsch_rp_600m_ii/ Whether that sounds muddled depends on how much your room accentuates those same frequencies. Generally, I prefer it not to have that bump. I didn't experience any listening fatigue, but the tonal balance isn't to my taste. I like a "warmer sound" with a more downward sloping response. I can get that with EQ, but I understand others may not be able to or want to.

There's a better, more compelling argument for a bookshelf /subwoofer combo in some scenarios. Sometimes the best positions for the mains and the subs does not exist in the same vertical plane. This is the case in my small 10x14' dedicated space. I have two pair of floorstanders, but I get better performance from my various bookshelves plus stereo subs combo because the subs perform best closer to the front wall, while the bookshelves image and respond best pulled out into the room more.

@@erics.4113 Eric, yes, I tend to agree. I should have pointed that my comments were targeting audiences that have sufficient listening spaces, but still choose the size excuse. There is also the fallacy that technology has overrun physics somehow, and that a very compact speakers compete with large ones at the low frequency end of the spectrum. 2.1 speaker systems are also useful in this respect, but in generally discussing 2.0, this mostly only applies at lower SPL’s. It just turns out that there are not a lot of people listening to music at very loud levels, thus perpetuating this delusion.
