Think Twice Before Installing RV Valve Stem Extenders Why I got rid of Ours.
What a pain these things were so I figured out away not to use them anymore.

I appreciate the video but I can't think of any other way to check the tire pressure but to put in extenders. I have had the bus for 6 months and I have been unable to check the back inner tires because you cannot reach the valves. I can't take this bus to a mechanic every time I want to check the tire pressure. If anyone has a suggestion of the best make and model of extenders to purchase, I would appreciate it.

Thank you. Yeah. the whole airing up the tires is always a problem. Not something you want on a vacation. But I am now looking to replace my tires and so your info is helpful.

I had put extenders on all wheels on my class c, the front driver side ended up tearing the valve stem, cost me 275 to get a mobile tire repair person out to change the valve stem, he told me to leave them off they are nothing but trouble, he said if you do use them make sure you get the one with the nut. I left the extenders on the rear as I haven't had issues, but I took them off the fronts, TPMs saved my tire.

Hey Kevin, I’ve watched all of your RV related videos and several of the others. I’ve learned something from them all and like the way you present the material. I’ve got an ‘04 W22 chassis and really struggle airing up the inner duals (no extensions for me). I would greatly appreciate some info or maybe a video on how you made your inner dual air chuck. I’ve got the EezTire TPMS system and the sensors I use are very much like yours.

Same one we have. They leak have the pass through also. I used the hose on the inside rear tires

Turns out there's a lot of factors that can cause leaks! Many tire shops are in a hurry to install valve stems and either use the wrong one or install them improperly. In your (and my) case, the extenders are inferior and either leak on their own or the centrifugal force eventually damages the valve stem, especially an issue using heavy metal extensions. I've also had them install valve stems designed for tires with 80+ PSI but my Dodge 3500 chassis requires 61 PSI which it turns out isn't enough pressure to properly seal the type of rubber value stems they installed on my RV. Occasionally there's problem with the wheel hole itself like a sharp burr or corrosion around the hole that needs to be sanded and/or filed to have a smooth surface. Thanks for sharing your lessons learned, confirming what I too have been learning after having too many problems out on the road. how did you figure out they were inferior and that was what was causing them to leak? did you find alternative once that were not inferior and did not leak?

Thank you Bud. I was about to go to a truck stop and buy extenders! I trust your experience of motor home travels. It not that hard a few times a year to take 2 nuts off pretty tire covers and fill when needed. I going to check next your tire sensors on Amazon . You be a cool neighbor to have . My first 07 dully 25 foot motorhome.

@@ktoutdoor Thank you Kevin. I ended up going 25 miles away to a truck stop. Not even a tire tester for sell ! I do have a very good one for tuck tires. So went to a tractor supply store. Just cheap testers and no air ones to fill tires.. Next I went to auto part store. They happen to have a smaller straight one with the darn up air fell on side. I got home with some light left and ground the side filler off some as much as I dare. And just about dark put it inside the inside dully. It well work. But bad weather tomorrow, at our age there is all way another tomorrow - ha ha - But I like you want to get it done. I going to search the internet for a straight air feller with no add on on side. The one I bought today is just a little smaller down side then the bigger one I have. I well put your number in my phone and wish you a good day some time . To think they sold the motor home to me with new tires and all six 50 pounds. I am hoping the 80 pounds in each tire well help it steer way better. It only has 50 thousand miles and in good shape. Unless the last owner used it for over hill rock camping.. 🤠🤪

5 years ago I installed two new steer tires and reused the extension hoses. Two weeks later both tires were flat. It appears the sealing rings on the extension hoses are a one time use. Needless to say I no longer have extension hoses on my rig.

what do you mean by sealing rings? is that a bushing inside the valve extender end, similar to a rubber gasket on water hoses that provides a seal?

@@manp1039 just a general term that identifies a seal, like o-ring, or square cut seal.
