Many westerners believe they will be living like kings in the third world with their fat retirement funds, the one thing most don’t realize you are leaving your own culture for one that doesn’t resonate with one you have had all your life, that alone can have a massive effect on your mental and physical health! Thanks for posting this!

HI! Sebastian. Your video "No Country For US Old Men" is very enlightening, I'm an old guy as my Philippine wife of 25yrs tells me from time to time. We are both retired here in Canada and as she points out to me, at our age retiring in the Phil is "NOT" a good idea! So after viewing your video I would say, she is already looking after my health. Thanks Sebastian for your Info. 🤕👍

It's cheaper to live here but not if u become sick mate maybe just visit thanks for watching me take care
@4KVideoPlaces Жыл бұрын
My wife and myself have visited the Phil a number of times over the years, visiting relatives, handing out money & taking them places, that's the way it is there & that's O/K to a point. However my wife does not recommend we move & retire in the Philippines, because of the very expensive medical situation. 🤕 @@heartsebastian15

If you’re lucky, you’ll find a family, which will take care of you when you get old and no longer able. Others will dump you when they can no longer milk you

The drama can be prevented. After 21 years in SE Asia I’ve seen every Shakespearian form of insanity play out in my extended circles of acquaintances. It’s good to have a network of expats, but only those who are equally prepared for any emergency way, way in advance. Exercise every morning, don’t drink, don’t drive (even sober!), have good insurance, and cook at home (don’t eat junk) as much as possible. Nobody lives like a king here - just the thought is completely delusional. Nothing is more real than the Philippines on a really bad day - be prepared because it will definitely happen.

“No country for old men” alright but the reason Westerners are moving to SE Asia is their homelands have become just that. Definitely need a medical plan including the all important carer.

I'm debating if i want to get a motorbike when i get there .I've seen too many expats have accidents there and juells is in the hospital from a bike wreck. Let us know what kind of health insurance you get i also need to look into that.

I have a bike but hardly ride it I mainly just catch a tricycle around town mate
@leigh7507 Жыл бұрын
Drive a moped like its a bicycle - keep it slow and stay to the side. Also, often the insurance rarely pays out for bike accidents (often due to proof of accident in poorer countries and sometimes due to license issues)

If u go to the Philippines in the hospital just make sure you bring some rubbing alcohol just incase they give u a used pillow that might give u scabies or wart cuz alcohol kills bugs and also reduces the size of warts from the pillow also another country that gots same problem is Mexico hollla y’all spread the word to peeps about contamination in hospitals in countries and share it with everyone 👌

I don’t want to sound cynical but if you come here in the Philippines and you’re around close to say 70 ‘with health problems’ my advice is to forget it. This goes against the advice of the majority of vloggers who have retired in the Philippines. The reason I say this is partly due to Sebastian’s advice and his own personal experience at a pub resulting in damaging his arm to the point that he could not pay his own surgical bills and relying on the generosity of someone to bail him out. That doesn’t always happen. But mainly because you really need to have money to be able to pay not only insurance but upfront cash payments to hospitals as Sebastian has stated. As to hospitals I think if you’re from Australia or the UK you can’t beat having Medicare or the National Insurance Scheme. Thinking that a heart attack, stroke, motorbike accident, etc won’t happen to you eventually fails. I think you’re better off seeing the Philippines as a tourist spot instead. Thanks for sharing.

PH is not the ideal country for foreigners to settle Foreigners in PH can't even own small portions of lands & have very limited rights they should consider South America European settlers there got rich & were poor farmers & factory workers in Europe PH is heaven on earth for rich Filipinos only

The only thing other than car that I would consider there is one of those Bajaj tricycles, without quality road side medical service why engage in a high risk activity, in the tricycles you also run under a roof.
