Thats why i quit my job and went to barber school full time. But i had been cutting for years already. It starts at home. Start practicing on your friends. Unfortunately my school did not teach fades. But thats ok cuz i learned on my own. Dont expect the school to teach you all the fly shit. Just the basics.

I’ve contemplated barber school for 2 years. I just enrolled in school. Being a father and 32 years old and having to work full time. I didn’t think it would be possible. Just have to find the right time to make it work. Adjust your schedule and just do it. You’ll be happy you did!

I’m starting school soon. And been researching barber school lately and how sanitary stations are and even thinking of how clean I’ll be. That said, I now realize that half these barbers around my area are half @ssing and not being clean. I see local bars with one brush without cleaning, combs falling and no barbercide use after, neck dusters are the same one from last year. It’s actually disgusting. These barbers are moving at such a fast pace with clients that they just don’t think about sanitation and just on to the next client for the $$. Thank you for the knowledge

I'm working full time. Been cutting hair for 5 years now and signed up for free classes at Cuny. Passed the TABE test and now waiting for them to give me an orientation date. Have 2 trimmers and clippers but no shaver and there wireless. Just trying to adjust my schedule, might have to leave my job but I'll find a part time job because I'm a 33yr old father. Thank you so much. You should be an instructor! I’m 59 and retired from being a certified sterilization technician for a surgery center and then a hospital. On top of being retired, we just moved and I don’t know anyone here. I’m going out of my mind. I can’t imagine people that don’t want to work. I miss it. I think I’ll try to purchase the book first and do my best to learn as much as I can on my own then apply to barber school. It’s an occupation that will allow you to work wherever you move to.

It really wasn't hard for me because it was my passion, I felt a natural affinity for it & still enjoy it for the most part, but traffic situations make me wonder why I still do it. 😂 💵 is good. I never really considered Barbering as a career, it was a hobby for me but I want to be a PROFESSIONAL BARBER, maybe run a mobile service to Truck stops for 🚛 on the road.

I think it’s crazy that barber school in Florida costs about 7,000 to 10,000. When I moved to North Carolina the barber school was A1 and only costs 1,500. Most barber schools in North Carolina are only 1,500 to 3,000 😲

In my opinion it is just a matter of what all you want to do. If you want to do just barbering then barber school but if you want to get into coloring, any esthetics or styling then beauty school.

Hey! I encourage you to go take your GED! It was WAAAAYYY easier for me than traditional school. You can take the practice test for free online just to see where your at and what you need to work on. I was really surprised how much I knew and how easily I caught up enough on what I didn't know to score higher than anyone in my state at the time! Taking it was the best thing I could've done for me and my children because it required me to make more money in my field of work but also opened more doors for me financially. So, again, DO IT!!! Great luck!
