I was in Navy starting in 1988 on an aircraft carrier and this was common for someone to bring his own clippers on board and start a side hustle. They had barbershop on board but, lines were long and you probably couldn't get a good timeslot. You had to have you clippers inspected and you were good. One guy did 200 at $5 a month.

It has been such a long time since I dropped a comment on your channel guys. This is one of the best videos you have ever put out. Really enjoyed it. I love the sentence he says "you either lose your customers or you retain them". This goes to show you always have to be receptive, careful and inviting. However, I don't like the idea of having contractors. There are surely less taxes to pay, but I still wouldn't have them. He also says location and word of mouth are fundamental. Even if you're well known in your area, location still does play a big role in your business. If you are in an area that's not accessible, your customers will have a hard time reaching you, so that's why you need to be close to a well-known area. He's a pretty classic guy. Loves word of mouth and doesn't use marketing strategies at all. He's the real deal of all times. I have been wanting to see such a video for a while now, and this was fantastic. In my city there are a couple barbers but nothing too fancy about them. Props to you guys. This channel is bomb

My uncle worked as a barber for over 30 years. An occupational disease to be aware of is that the joints of the fingers are not good due to a lot of scissors. I always support people who work hard in their positions.

that's cool. i was living in sumas 2 years ago and i could never get a haircut in bellingham because i couldnt find a barbershop there. the whole 5 months that i was in washington i didnt get a haircut. bellingham has a great beach by the way. locust beach was amazing.

His barbers work for a chair rental. There is no payroll. He does personal taxes and gives them a receipt for their chair rental. He also works all day for himself. His overhead is probably around $3400 and he makes 9-10 grand just from chair rental before the money he makes cutting. There’s a lot of profit there.

I pray that you see this message!!!!! I would really appreciate if you interview more african-americans/blacks. Starting a business as a black person (young, old, men, or women) in the USA, Great Britain, Europe, and Canada is not the same for someone who is white :(.. The world is becoming more accepting of black entrepreneurs, but we still fighting an uphill battle. I wish this business owner nothing but good luck but man i hate to say it that he really in my opinion dropped the ball when presenting himself and his shop. I think he could have prepared a lot better maybe done a little homework on very basic questions he was asked and that most business owners should know. When asked how much is needed to start the business he answered with how much he makes per chair and month. Maybe he was just nervous but he wasn’t listening to the actual questions that he was being asked. He didn’t say what it takes to open a shop. The host was trying so hard also to ask him in different ways every question and he would just give a random answer. Maybe I’m being to Harsh but I just think these amazing opportunities only come if your lucky once I’m a lifetime. I don’t even know what the name of his shop was. Thank you for your service sir.

Only $25 an hour? I feel haircuts should vary. The more that's required to achieve the style the more it should cost I think there is a difference between a basic cut and a designer cut. I think scissor cuts should cost more. But, $25 is too low.

$2300 per chair starting out lol??…they’re online for 600-$1000 I would go for the $1000 ones starting up then work my way up to the nicer things not the cheapest but not the nicest but still brand new…$3800 could make or break you in certain situations so it’s best to always keep your start up cost as low as possible…I would spend more on what makes the product which is the clippers and other hair styling tools because essentially that’s what makes us always come back the barber work!…everybody can open a nice barbershop with the right money…but it’s hard to find a barber with the magic touch who’s actually talented with his clippers and those are the guys I always return to💯💯💯
