Thanks for creating an honest review of your Ghibli. I am looking for one of these at the moment and most of the videos on KZbin are clickbait videos from people that have only experienced one for an hour or so, and are only interested in saying how bad something is to get the maximum number of views. It is very helpful to find someone that has owned one for several years. I love the exterior and internal looks of the Ghibli, and the sound is awsome. Your car looks amazing.

Your engine bay is looking great! I never had the desire to keep my engine bays clean. The exterior of my car IS kept super nice however. lol Back in May I sold my 2014 Ghibli SQ4 that also I owned for 6 years as well. It had 109,XXX miles on it. I only sold it because I figured big dollar repairs might be in my future so I unloaded it. It was maintenanced beyond what a typical car would usually get thanks to your videos!

I recently purchased year 9 of the extra 10 Maserati warranty to cover the powertrain. Do you ever have anxiety about owning yours out of warranty?

If you mean clean the carbon on the intake valves then yes, I have a video on it. If you mean the injectors themselves, then no, have not needed to. I only use 91 Octane fuel.

Yours is beautiful, here in cali I see these once in a blue moon . Buying a Maserati Ghibli Base 2014 for $12k with 55k miles , for insurance is $300 (my aunt sells cars whole sale after fixing up) has some chips on the grill and some scratches on rear bumper and side back door I’ll have to fix . But looks good. Only worried about maintenance I’ll probably learn to do my own oil change I hope it’s not difficult. Will get bottom lip for scratches on bottom of the car front under bumper Will be driving 60miles a day, is it hard dangers going over dips and in even roads lots of those by my job? Any tips are welcome!

Thanks for the video! What's your honest opinion for an 18 yr old looking to buy one. I personally love the look and sound of them, but I am on the fence because I have seen some talk about reliability issues. It's just like any used car. Reliability is going to depend on how it was cared for by the previous owners, not the make/model. Mine has 97K miles on it. But I take great care of it.

When they brak down they are expensive unless you know a mechanic who knows about them and is willing to do the labor for cheap, the insurance is high, maybe not everyone will have high Insurance but mine is and I have nothing on my record at all, it has given me some problems but nothing too major, but unless you have the time and money it's OK, but if you don't I wouldn't recommend it, I love mine, I like the attention it gets!!😂

Get a prepurchase inspection done by a knowledgeable European auto technician. It may cost a few hundred, but that's cheaper than an unexpected few thousand.

Depends on how well it was maintained by the previous owners. Check maintenance history before you buy. Having said that, mine had a good maintenance history, and I have regularly serviced the oil and oil filter every 5k miles. My Ghibli now has 99k miles on it and it runs like new. If you watch all my videos you will see what I had to do to keep her running like new.

@@JamesDIYGarage I just took it in for oil change and paid $700 they kept the vehicle for 4 days for a oil change. Very disppaointed in their lack of customer service. It was a 3 hour drive to go to dealer! I love the car so much I love driving it, but I don’t know any thing about mechanical stuff for fixing it and I think because I’m a female they try to add other stuff on to fix it so I think I’m gonna let it go.

@@mywiseheart You do not need to go to the dealership to get the oil changed. Find a reputable local autoshop to do your oil changes (NOT JIFFY LUBE or any of the other quick oil change places) , a local shop will be cheaper and quicker than the dealership. Just keep the invoices in a binder and make sure the VIN and mileage is recorded on the invoice when the oil change is done. Ask them if they report to Car Fax, if so ask them to report your oil change to Car Fax.

Hey James I really like the channel! I'm Al and am interested in buying a Maserati Ghibli SQ4. I have been learning and searching for the car I want for 2 months already. Weather to buy from a Maserati dealer or like Carvana I'm still on the fence. Anyway I have a question. We live in Florida which is a 1 license plate state. I'v seen a few cars I really liked however they had the plastic shroud attached to the front facade of the car like yours is, so I lost interest in them. Does your plastic shroud come off without damage, or did someone use zap screws and drilled them into the lower bumper? I'm Just concerned that if I did buy a car with the plastic bracket I would see holes in the front bumper area. Please let me know your thoughts, respectfully Al,

Mine has a removable license plate mount, there are no visible screw holes. It is mounted to the p Bottom of the bumper, has a spring loaded lock that keeps it in place. Pull the ring on the lock and it slides out. I had my bumper refinished and the screw holes repaired due to excessive rock chip damage. But to answer your question, most will be screwed into the front bumper and removing it would leave visible screw holes. You could always have your front bumper refinished also.

It is if it has been well maintained. Have a Prepurchase inspection done on the car unless it is a CPO car. That is always a good investment. Also try to get a service history from the Dealer redacting the previous owners personal info. That how I got mine.

You are right about the engine......kinda, the open deck block is based on the Chrysler Pentastar v6, but remanufactured for Ferrari to build. Most of the timing components are Chrysler. But then again, you find other high end makes dip heavily into the parts bin of their parent manufacturer, such as Bugati, Lamborghini, Bentley and Rolls Royce, etc. Ferrari is one of the few brands that does not do this. Oh, and I am right, that is real leather. It seems you have never owned one much less spent much time with one and feel you could or would never own one, so you would rather just hate on it.

Its like any other car, an indication of low AC refrigerant. You might have a leak somewhere

There is a software update that may fix that. I had the same issue on mine. A software update fixed mine. Been good since.
