Bearing in mind the fact that you have owned and driven the car for so long, as someone who is in the trade, is a testament to the vehicle.

I can only endorse everything you say about the modern Maserati. I bought a 4 year old 2007 Quadroporte with 40000 miles on the clock for £28k. Ferrari 4.2 litre Ferrari petrol engine and all the extras. It’s now got 111000 on the clock and it’s never let me down. People mutter about electrical problems - mines been left out on the street in all weathers including Scottish winters and never failed. A couple of new batteries required and new front discs/pads but that’s it. Find a good independent mechanic to service once a year and it’ll be completely reliable. And that engine …. 😘

Really interesting to hear your comment about Pirelli Tyres. I owned an Audi R8 for 12 years and always put Pirelli P Zero tyres on it. When manoeuvring in and out of parking spaces it did that crabbing action with a horrible graunching noise and jumped about. The first time it happened I thought I was driving over a load of rubble.
@carukchannel15 күн бұрын
Exactly the same issue 👍
@Fozzymandeus15 күн бұрын
The crabbing action is called the Ackerman effect and is a consequence of the suspension geometry. Cold tyres exacerbate, and there might be something about the Pirelli compound that makes it more noticeable, but it’s normal and nothing to worry about
@peterbrownless14 күн бұрын
Learn something everyday! 20 odd years ago I bought a 2 litre Alfa Gtv coupe and it did exactly that. It was on pretty tired Pirelli P Zero. I preferred Goodyear at the time, new tyres and it was fine. I had assumed it was simply the Pirelli being heavily worn.
@Fozzymandeus14 күн бұрын
@ you can definitely feel it more when the front tyres are old.
@155andRising12 күн бұрын
Like others have suggested it’s Ackerman angle . It’s actually Anti-Ackerman that causes this effect. This is how formula 1 cars are set up and you can see it on TV where the outside wheel on a corner turns in more than the inside wheel. This is the opposite of what a normal road car is set up. To give a sporty turn in , manufacturers have set up their road cars with Anti-Ackerman . The trade of is at slow tight turns the outside wheel will now drag causing it to skip. This becomes more pronounced as tyre tread wears down and then closer it becomes to being a slick tyre. People end up putting new tyres on which solves the effect for a short while but it’s not for the reasons they think

Enjoyed watching this, thanks for sharing! Makes a change from watching a channel like Hoovies that keeps buying knackered editions (the v6 petrol) and complain about it, although the Levante he got ended up going well. Also totally hear you on the buying something different, I ended up with an Infiniti Q30 because its that bit rarer and different compared to the Merc GLA its based on. Reactions are always fun, those that know, know, lol and those that dont, their confusion is amusing to see. But again thanks for sharing this, always been Ghibi curious!
@owensteele164516 күн бұрын
Thank you for showing us around your Ghibli. I would much prefer this over any BMW M-Sport. It's much more interesting, the engine sounds better, and the bodywork looks MILES better. Most importantly, it would be a lot easier to find a well-maintained and responsibly-owned Ghibli, too.

I bought a 2 year old XK8 Convertible 24 years ago, apart from a manufacturer timing chain tensioner fault it was completely trouble free. It took me 10 years to part with it as I loved driving it from day one. I replaced it with a Hilux to transport my dogs about, it was horrid in comparison albeit also uber reliable.

Nice Motor Lee and as it's been looked after it shouldn't be any further problems ( DPF's? ) . I've been scarred as my neighbour had a 4200 cambricorsa (08 reg) which despite being well maintained threw up a different issue every month . He finally sold it to WBAC and cut his losses.

@@andymoore9977 Best handling car I've had is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce Ti. Unfortunately had to sell as getting too tight for the growing kids in the back. Nice car, never been in one personally, but it looks great in the blue too! I’ve owned lots of cars throughout y driving life and never really had issues with any of them (mechanical wise). But then I was obsessed (still am) about getting my car serviced regularly and just looking after the car. Some people treat their car as a tip and run them for years, it breaks down then they slag the car off! 😂

Thanks for your prompt reply, I recently had my 2014 Peugeot 508 2ltr tdi in for attention and was given a list of findings after diagnostics. The garage said I should take the car to an authorised Peugeot dealer to fully understand and attend to the findings as they didn't have full access. The garage is part of a large franchise and well equipped but not enough apparently which is disappointing, such is life.
