Hopefully I will be in Bangkok Thursday 👍 Spending 20 days at an IHG property (Holiday Inn) to work towards that sweet sweet lounge access. I am so frustrated with living in the US so I am looking forward to experiencing this city and assessing living there long term. Wish me luck! 🙂

We have been watching your videos and have a 71 day Euro trip starting next May. I had to watch some videos 2 or 3 times to get the CC Rewards down and in the process created a spreadsheet to keep track. That has now become a trip planner tool because that's just who I am. It would be great if you looked it over, I have a demo version on google sheets. Thanks for the great info.

New Sub. here. I love your channel, so much information. I'm 63 and retirement is quickly approaching. My wife and I are in good health and we both love to travel. My question is, when using the IHG points for your stays it's my understanding that you have to pay, in cash, the resort fees. If you stay in IHG resorts for 30 days What does that cost come out to be? I realize it's probably going to be different at each resort but looking for a ballpark number as we plan to hit the road in a few years. thanks

We have stayed in Penang, Ipoh and Kuala Lumpur for a few months this year. Now we are living in Bangkok. We’ve stayed in Chiangrai, northern Thailand also. Both countries are safe and excellent. However we prefer Thailand because we feel more free. Thailand has no restrictions on pork and alcohol. Furthermore it has more affordable retirement visas than the Malaysian MM2H visa.

Hi! Where do you shop for American sizes in Bangkok? Shopping for clothes has been a frustrating experience for me. I’m a US size 12/14 XL and everything is too tight and short here. I remember you saying that Bangkok is your favorite place to buy clothes. Thanks in advance!

I got an email from IHG announcing a 2 for 1 flash sale. How much should a newbie, first time buyer (who is planning on retiring and traveling starting next March) buy? Sorry for the general question - only if there is a best practice to dip one's toe in, so to speak. Apparently this is a general purchase when using the IHG Premier CC so 3x points (0.8 CPP). But I'm still within the first 6 months of my Hyatt credit card so can get 2x (2 CPP) on that. So 2.4% with IHG credit card, and 4% with the Hyatt.

Assuming 20% tax rate, $4K is $60K gross for a couple. Do you have a sense of how much that budget would be for a solo traveler? It's not half, but is about $2,500 after-tax reasonable or is 75% or $3k more practical? Do you have travel back to the US in that $4K figure? As I listen to you all's videos, what's hard (for me, probably not others) to get my head around is accommodation expense, given that I would be paying AirBnB type rates, whereas I gather you all apply "points" to offset accommodation expense. Of course, faster travel (ie: lower discounts for longer stays) increases accommodation costs (again, AirBnb, not hotels). Any advice on "normalizing" your experiences for a solo traveler would be great! Thanks

Great video! The positives seem to far outweigh the negatives about living in Thailand as an American. I plan to visit Thailand soon for the first time, and my research has revealed some issues of concern. For example the air quality especially during the burning season in the north is very unhealthy. Significant flood damage is quite common in in many parts of Thailand during the rainy season. Tap water like in many parts of the world is not recommended for human consumption. No place is perfect, but Thailand appears to be pretty close.
