I used something similar to film a facility tour at work. A good point to add too is that as you build, even if you have a $2000 sometimes its not the best gear for the shoot. We chose phone over the 70D because we needed to work lite and fast so the best option was a phone. Great set up.

I watched Think Media and Sunny Lenarduzzi and took all their advice. You DEFINITELY have to put in a lot of hard work to make it work though.

One of my favorite accessories for creating content is my Shure Motiv MV88 it is not cheap but worth getting cause the sound quality is ten times better than using the built in mic on my phone!

Hey, just wanted to point out that the vastar smartphone mounts if you flip it over so the phone tightening knob is at the bottom, there is a 1/4" screw point that you can attach a cold-shoe mount like the SmallRig one then you can mount a microphone or light to that. You can see the mount point at 0:59. Also for connecting the TRS to the TRRS connectors, you can get one that splits out the microphone and headphone which lets you monitor the audio too without having to unplug and replug things.

One problem is I don't want something so noticeable when doing walking video. Problem with my smart phone is it doesn't record the way I want it to. It kind of crops the video so you don't get full picture when recording. Kind of makes video smaller. My only video is an example of that. Update: Aprently if I hold the phone upwards it doesn't record wide. If I hold the phone side ways and record it works very good 👍

Great video. Appreciate all the great tips. Only comment.... the lighting from the Neewer light was a little too 'brassy' for my liking. Would there have been a way to tone it down with some sort of a gel set-up? Managed to low ball some of my own purchases even further: got a tripod from $5 Below (store), an $11 ring light on sale from K-Mart, invested in a stand alone Dockem Koala wall mount for around $15, and am currently working on buying an external mic. Will definitely be checking out your microphone video. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and expertise.

Wow! A really good video... some great information, no fluff, and heavy advertising, all delivered by a really good on-camera talent. It is obvious you know your stuff, and I appreciate your sharing so well. I've used my iPhone 8 for a number of shots where our bigger camera would SCREAM "HEY GUYS! LOOK, A VIDEO CAMERA!"
