Very informative. I am surprised by the wear of the top mast where the Spi is attached.

Hi Tit, Thank you for the great video. As I have heard from the Austrian Class Association First 18, there is also planned providing a video / guide to refit the keel of the 18. I would like to do it on my own. Please advise if there is already some knowledge base material on that specific topic. Thank you very much. Harald Kalleitner

thanks a lot. I just bought an 18 and will go thru the points you mentioned. I would however very much like some more details on fixing up the keel. Mine is from 2015 and has a lot of corrosion. How do I the easiest way drop it out of the boat and again remount it? I have access to a crane and a few helpers. Also please mention that you need to lubricate your rudder mounts. It took me forever to get it dismantled because the previous owner had necklected this. But thanks a lot for a good video. Very informative

Hi, I am also looking for guidance how to refit the keel - see my last comment on this video. Have you done it? Would be great sharing you experience. Thank you

@@haraldkalleitner6482 After having looked at it - and it didn't need any maintenance I just did a bit of rust removal and epoxying over it. I have since sold it and downgraded to a smaller sailing dinghy.
