I want Guys autograph so bad. He’s the best teacher I’ve ever (never?) had. What a joy to learn online with someone across the world! His charisma and passion are unmatched. He sets an example for musicians by his demeanor alone, but his knowledge and experience is truly a gift. Best wishes from the USA.

Fun Fact: Lalo Schiffrin's Theme for Mission Impossible is built over an ostinato based on Morse code Letter M (- -) and I (. .). I love it when everything just add... Thank you Guy for yet one more great lesson!

I love watching your videos and learning, but pleeeeaase for the love of cowbells will you put your camera's exposure on manual? If at all possible. Again, your videos are super helpful and fun to watch but, as a videographer, I get so distracted by the constantly-adjusting auto exposure far too much.

[EDIT: Your auto-focus is becoming a talking point Guy. To solve this, either a couple of plants tall enough either side of you (with enough room to move) would keep the auto-focus not moving much, or if you can lock the focus beforehand to where you’ll be, that’d do it too. But, I know one of your fave moves is to ‘enter the room’ as it were at the start of a lesson/vid, so that’s maybe gonna work nicely, or not with a fixed-focus? Try it I think ? Of course, amny get around this by not having a real background or ‘space’ at all, they have a green-screen, whereas you have actual physical objects, the camera may ‘take to’ as you move in and out of its auto-focus point or line. Anyway, checks we’re awake, won’t stop me watching]. Really good. I’d done an ‘ostinato’ without having a clue that was it’s name. Mine was quite a pseudo-random one, a large selection of notes played so fleetingly, you can get away with quite a wide range of layered tones which otherwise would be a clash or discord? In other words, played as if in the style of a ‘grace’ note. I think it was reminiscent of a Pink Floyd song, but also Tull had used that exact technique of a very fast and fluid waterfall of notes in their intro to ‘Different Germany’ oops sorry I mean Ian Anderson of course. It’s sort of a rapid arpeggio really I think. But, very enjoyable, and I appreciate a few more of the nuances now I’ve spent more time on music than in the past. Take care all.

Autofocus, shallow depth of field, an animated instructor, and a really interesting topic. Love it!

There will be many if not legions quite a few myself included who will have a line of credit (assuming we are any good) "My Music Teacher: Guy Michelmore." I know it's not worth a donut and a coffee from a Yank but it's sincere. I can imagine myself on a magical campus where yours is the only class I care about. AND this Divine Character Theory is wheeling along.

very sorry to hear the UK is in an unprecedented heat wave. In Canada, we can go to extremes (ode to Billy Joel). We can go as high as 42C in summer as it is now to the sub zero, brace for it, -42C in January. Brrrrrrr. Now when my Great Grand dad arrived from Birmingham, with 7 children and wife in tow in Montreal, he didn't know any of this, and he probably should have continued, to my satisfaction, to Hollywood. I now live in Kingston Ontario. In the summer I simply go jump in the lake. (lake Ontario). In winter I skate on it as it will hold tractor trailers. Which leads me to that iconic of all things Canadian winterish and of course I speak of ...ice fishing (you thought I was going to say hockey didn't you). I have been know to catch up to 25lbs of ice in one fell swoop, which of course I keep and put in my ice cold water in July and August. Stay cheery my friend and be grateful for no chance of -42. Winter comes every year and this year will be no exception. :) OH, one last thing, what short cut do you use to copy paste so quickly on a track?
