Great video and recommended for all students in a college chemistry lab class. Dr. Yee's weighing technique can also be applied to other types of electronic balances found in an academic lab. I recommend using a micro-spatula instead of a scoopula for measuring very small amounts; you will have more control, and it's always preferable to patiently sneak up on the desired mass rather than take the paper off and remove some excess reagent, which not only takes more time but also produces more lab waste. as the ink drys it gets lighter, so the number would keep going down till the ink completely dried (thats my theory) awesum scale.

Hello friend, I want to ask a question. I have a cheap 0.01 scale. Yesterday I wanted to weigh two and a half (2,500) grams and the indication on the scales read 2, 53. Does that mean it's 2 grams and 530 milligrams? thanks .. Anyone who can answer I would appreciate it.

How to weigh adsorbents like moisture adsorbing zeolite pellet, silica gel powder, sticky fine powders? I worked on a setup having antistatic guard, silica gel pan to adsorb moisture & glove box that can be supplied with nitrogen and the weighing scale plus adsorbent container all kept inside the glove box.

The ink on the card weighed 1.5 mg initially and then decreased to 1.0 mg. I am surprised he didn't seem to realize that the reason for the decrease was that the solvent in the ink was evaporating.

The solvent in the ink was evaporating off, that's why it was drifting down.

I think the slow drop in the weight of ink, is due to some solvent evaporating from it as it is on paper. Wow.
