Yep I had no idea I almost fried the GPU if it hadn't been compatible 😅 (That would have been way more entertaining though lol). All other hardware seems standardized so I never thought twice that the GPU brand might matter for the cables, especially when the PCIe power just fit right in 🤔. Literally dumb luck on my part haha. I was actually confused when they said there wasn't anything else after it booted up, I was thinking "that's all it was, a missing power cable?"

Hey man! Thanks for coming by the video and dropping a comment! I kind of thought the same as you when I first glanced over at the system and saw the missing PCI-E power cable but it did indeed get more complicated than that...at least for me haha.

so wen chris got back he showed us the vid right away i saw the psu's used thru the years ive won a few psu from evga and that line was one of them after i got it i looked up wat oem it was since they use many different brands and the oem for it is seasonic, had the linus team done a bit more in depth research they wouldve seen the 2 psu's used are basically identical had it been another brand the 12v pins mightve been flipped with the grounds and system wouldve went poof

yeh i just spent almost a hour digging through my garage for the molex cable for a silverstone power supply, was in my apartment in a easily visible area. i only will use correct cables.

i don't understand how the contesters who host these competitions didn't recognize a short cut that was incorrect method to solving the created Problem and why they allowed this step as an Option if there wasn't a win to lose penalty. makes 0 sense and seems declaring a winner based off what luckily worked shows the lack of knowledge by contesters, and maybe you should host this next year.

This challenge was bullshit. If you do the right and safe steps and lose and the other guy do things in front of an large audiance that are possible highly dangerous by copying it the same way is absurd. It should at least have been clearly pointed out that this should not be imitated under any circumstances. I have burned my Hardware in a spectacular way by using a powerkabel form one BeQuiet powersupply in another powesupply also from BeQuiet. I am sorry for you losing that way. Btw i really like your contant!

It was all in good fun either way and content like this gives the opportunity to talk about the no-no that is using modular PSU cables from different power supplies so its all good no worries!

goal was to get it running yes but not in the way it was achieved in this case his win was pure luck cause linus team didnt research the parts enough oem for the evga psu was seasonic so they were basically identical i have that same line of evga psu
