Targa Tasmania and the Finke Desert Race have been subject to modifications as a result of tragic outcomes during past events. Adelaide Rally now has speed limit restrictions. If held to the same legal standard then one could expect the yacht race organisers and the yacht race to be 'audited' at the least.

No safety tether? Guess safety isnt a big thing in the yachtie crowd...but as taxpayers foot the bill when things go sour maybe they should pull finger and get safe.

Yachtperson washed overboard did have a harness. The yacht crash gybed/ broached and the yachtsperson was held under water by the harness line so had to unclip the harness to float to the surface above the water to get a breath. Separation from the yacht resulted.
