Lyrics:
I'm only pretty sure that I can't take any more
Before you take a swing
I wonder what are we fighting for
When I say out loud
"I wanna get out of this"
I wonder is there anything
I'm gonna miss
I wonder how it's going to be
When you don't know me
How's it going to be
When you're sure I'm not there?
How's it going to be
When there's no one there to talk to?
Between you and me
'Cause I don't care
How's it going to be?
How's it going to be?
Where we used to laugh
There's a shouting match
Sharp as a thumbnail scratch
A silence I can't ignore
Like the hammock by the
Doorway we spent time in, swings empty
Don't see lightning like last fall
When it was always about to hit me
I wonder how's it going to be
When it goes down
How's it going to be
When you're not around?
How's it going to be
When you found out there was nothing
Between you and me?
'Cause I don't care
How's it going to be
How's it going to be
When you don't know me anymore?
And how's it going to be?
Wanna get myself back in again
The soft dive of oblivion
I wanna taste the salt of your skin
The soft dive of oblivion (Oblivion)
How's it going to be?
When you don't know me anymore?
How's it going to be?
How's it going to be?

With hits like “Semi-Charmed Life”, “Jumper”, “How’s It Going To Be” and more, Third Eye Blind’s fresh take on alternative rock has delighted listeners everywhere since 1993. In recent years the band’s popularity has only grown with their most recent tour-Summer Gods-breaking their previous attendance records. During this 2019 tour the band donated a portion of the revenue from each ticket sold to off-set their carbon footprint in partnership with ClimeCo.
Of their latest full album, Screamer, lead singer Stephan Jenkins said: “My current mood resonates with rebellion, energy, courage, and risk.” Adding that “I seek to combine it with a percussive level of musical immediacy in this collection of songs to cultivate collective idealism and an unapologetic aspiration towards humanistic values.”

The late 90s just had a different vibe. Even though life wasn’t perfect there was this blissful feeling that things would work out in the long run. 9/11 tarnished that. COVID killed it for good. I miss it every day.

i'm turning 51 next month. I was 25 when I first heard this song on the radio. Yeah I liked it as I liked many of the songs I heard back in the 90's. Today as a middle-aged man it has a lot more meaning to me and for some reason I start sobbing when I hear it. It's a great song and I'm glad I rediscovered it as a result of my nostalgic mood lately. My grandparents are gone and my mother passed away 5 years ago. Life is so short folks...a very short trip, although it seems an eternity when we're young. Enjoy it and make good memories 👍🙏🥰

Well. People are on their best behaviour for the first while. 2 years to 10 years. Depending on the person. It's easy to love someone's good side. The true beauty in life is accepting your inner monster and accepting someone else's less then desirable qualities. But this takes time. Humour. Acceptance. Experience. Even then there is no guarantee that happiness will forever live. Love. No guarantee. You wanted a happy ending.. nope not here. Reality is here. If you trully love yourself that is real happiness.

The video is a masterpiece. I remember the first time I saw it, I thought it was so brilliant. The guys trying to blast their music through the secured door, the eyeball peeking around the corner, and then the best part-the instruments going out the window. Perfectly described the futility the song was describing. One of my favorite videos ever ❤❤

Why is this song good or different from 1000 other break up songs? I’ll tell you why. It’s in the very specific moment that you realize that you’ve made THE decision. Right after the minute of the last straw, and right before the minute you start to grieve the loss of your best friend. When someone has been the voice in your head, and when anything happens and you just have to tell somebody that knows you and gets you, you will still have the knee-jerk reaction for a second to call them to say ‘guess what just happened to me today!’, that will never be an option again. Nothing is only one thing. But in weighing it all out, you realize your favorite most important PLANS with the person who has basically been a portion of who you even are, ARE DEAD. Is it a decision you can live with?? To END it?? No take backs?? Yup or nope? When you start wondering how you’re going to tell them that you’re moving out before the end of the week, knowing that they know during the minute that you are packing up your Sht and there is a cab already on the way. Can you go through with it? And decide, YUP. Solid, we’re done here. **And this song also explains why break-up se% is so good, because you know it’s the very last time. This is the private moment in your head when you officially have decided to say goodbye. Dam I hate that part. (Here’s your ring back.)

Seeing how many of us have the same experiences, suffer from nostalgia and ultimately want to be united. We’re more divided than ever before... I’m wondering how long the world will last. Not necessarily. Back then it was just a little tune but today I'm sitting here like, welp, now at the age of 40 I truly understand what this song is all about; the heartache and devastation of ending a relationship with someone you truly loved and would do anything for, even though deep down you knew it was toxic. But you stuck around and toughed it out hoping things would get better, hoping things would go back to how they used to be. Hoping the person you first met would come back to themselves. Then you realize this song you heard when you were a teen, blasting on the radio as you drove around with your friends having fun, is now what you're going through in life.

In my opinion, it is the liberalization of our nation. Creativity is inspired by freedom of speech. The contrast between moral and amoral was the driving force behind all music, up until around 2000-05. Everyone seems to be scared to offend. Yet, all the modern big "hits" would offend a lot of the people during the 90's. Plus, the morals of our nation, as a whole, seem to have come to such a low point, that it's just easier to be nasty with a basic beat, in order to make it on the top 100. The over-production of music, putting anyone's voice through a machine, loses the soul of the song. And unfortunately, that just seems to be, par for the course, nowadays... Even the Foo Fighters new music sucks!

My oldest son and girlfriend have a 2 yr old. I told him just enjoy all the times with both of them. Time is so fragile and things can change in a instant. I love them an pray for their safety and happiness. This song makes me cry. Tony , Danielle and Anthony you are loved beyond words. Just breathe and enjoy the moment, believe me, time goes so fast.

Sad posting here... I think this song actually saved my marriage. Wifey served the papers from her lawyer, I refused to meet her lawyer. Times were tense-every minute-and our two young boys just watched, waited, for something to make sense. We never screamed at each other in front of them, never bad mouthed each other to them but they could see Mommy didn’t love Daddy any more. Driving in the van one day, we argued before we picked up the boys in the van from pre-school/kindergarten and this song came on. I started singing the lyrics and my wife just stared silently ahead. I Couldn’t help it. Silence followed-not because my singing sucks TOO bad (maybe a little)... Her eyes welled up, no doubt thinking how hard it is for a single mom even WITH alimony, all the years wasted, etc... We hung on another five years and everything changed for the better. Well, almost. She passed away from a brain tumor the day before our 20th Anniversary. Thank you guys from Third Eye! Those precious last years made all the difference for me, my wife and children.

Richelle Mckay : Thanks Richelle. I think you’re right. She wasn’t my soul mate. But you know that old saying: ‘one door closes and another opens’; I found an amazing woman who loves me for what I am- my strengths, my flaws, everything. Look up the concept of Twin Flame Souls. I think she’s my twin flame! But I still miss my wife every day.

Dear everyone I was friends with, worked with, and even dated in the late 90s. I just wanted to say thank you for being part of my life back then, the memories, fun, and good times. Even though we are no longer friends and you're not in my life any more, I often think about you all. I hope you are all doing well and having a happy life. I'll always remember you all.

I heard this song in an uber on the way home from work tonight... it took me back to my high school days and as well as every friendship and relationship I've lost since then. It's not a song I think I've heard more than a few times in the last 15 years and I wouldn't have thought it carried the weight it has.
