While I don't know all of the details, NovelAI that he's using is generally intended for stories from what I'm aware, and while there's a fair bit you can include in the text to direct it toward certain genres, from what I've seen it's training data seems to include a lot of fanfiction and stuff from Royal Road so make of that what you will...
