I went through submarine school and most of electronics school in 1974. Just before I finished, I was interviewed by a very nice man from the NIS for security reasons. He asked me questions for about 20 minutes, and then he looked at me real serios like , and flipped shut a big hard bound grey book that he had been writing in and said to me , " I'm afraid we can't use you son."

Good interview. I think Shipmate KuyaStorm and I were in RTC Great Lakes at the same time for maybe a month. I'm sure we shared the same many hot chow at the mess hall during that month. I'm curious what his company he was assigned to. I was in Company 262 from Jul - Sep '94. A lot of respect for the Bubbleheads...lol

Good stuff! All the best to this young man and fellow shipmate. Interestingly, I was a sonar tech as well and I was a recruiter around time he joined. Funny story, when I joined in 1983, I was sent to San Diego for boot camp. I`m from South Carolina, and had never been anywhere or been around different cultures or people. Well, when i got off the bus in boot camp, there was a Filipino company commander there to herd us around. I, literally, had NO idea what he was saying, or where he was from, but he was MEAN as hell! I actually thought he was Japanese (🤣). Found out later, he was, of course, Filipino. I didn`t even know where the Philippines WAS, mush less ever meet a person from there.
