I’m 74 and am in the process of filling and planting six Birdies raised beds. I’m lucky enough to be able to source the filling materials from our own property with the aid of our trusty tractor, but it’s still a hard and lengthy process but only has to be done once. Birdies products are superior in my opinion. What a pleasure it was to be able to stand up and sew seeds.

I put my Birdie beds together by myself. I just flipped them over to tighten the bottom ones. Easier for me than bending over and reaching. I just did them all down until the 3rd row was left and flipped the whole thing over.

I love the idea of raised beds that will take the strain off my back from bending. My wooden beds are falling apart and need replacing. Will look into these beds. I’d put metal wire underneath to prevent gophers from digging inside.

I like the fact you wont have to keep building them. My first garden was made from scaffolding boards but every few years I was replacing the beds, whereas these will last and saves me work time and energy

I suffer with really heavy clay soil on my farm here in Thailand. Over the past year I have been trying to add as much organic material as possible but the clay soil seems to eat it up in no time. I have made a couple of brick raised beds and after 9 months they are producing amazing results with my chillies, swiss chard, Chinese cabbages, corn and so much more, all the plants are so healthy. Great video Tony thanks.

Thanks, Tony! I have been wanting Birdies, ever since Mark introduced them to us. My stop sign was always the price..UNTIL- last weekend! I pulled a muscle in my back bending over, for a long time, while tending my short beds. After a week of not being able to bend over, the value of the birdies just surpassed the actual cost, for me! How valuable is my back and the ability to keep on gardening VS the price tag of the raised bed? Well, that has now become an easy answer.

Agree with you on the Birdies beds - they are fantastic. Extremely popular in Australia where they are made. I have 6 and they look the same as they did when I installed them years ago. For the deep ones I put all my cardboard, old potting soil, bits of wood, anything I could find in, and then put potting mix only on the top levels.

Several people have said the same thing about having a 2nd person for the lower bolts. All you need to do is flip the bed over. With the bottom now on top, you have no issue holding the bolts in place. The Birdies beds are really nice.

Birdies garden beds are Australian from Queensland, i had some of the original ones in my previous home, just have one currently the tall one. Great height but filling always an issue. I plan on purchasing more but probably not so high when i get back home, my garden is full of goodness only knows what concrete, rubble who knows but undiggable. Id suggest putting some adhesive under the rubber capping as my did start coming off. I also like the round tree ones they come in many colours. Ill be interested to see how you fill it and how you go

discovered these beds two years ago. first i bought the shorter version and have had zero issues with them.last fall i bought two or the taller 6 in 1 and after filling with cut trees wood chips grass and then dirt and manure let them sit over winter. These did fantastic and i loved the higher bed so this fall i will buy two more of the tall ones and replace some of my failing wood beds, tall beds are the only way to go for us older gardeners.
