My 2016 Mk3 was rear ended in Dec 2022. The auto body shop replaced the bumper, back exhaust, tail light, spoiler and the trunk latch assembly in your video. Water kept getting into the trunk latch. Eventually, there would be so much water, the latch would not function until it drained. It was replaced again in March 2022, and then again in August 2023 and then the same issue happened, leading to yet another replacement in Jan 2024. I think the shop finally figured out how to seal the assembly water tight. Thank you for the video - the part is expensive!

Oh man I am so sorry to hear all that.. yeah, the water coming in is a strange issue in the first place, taking audi is premium brand.. but it does happen. I will make a video on how to clean the drains as well since most people are unsure on that as well… Glad to hear you got it sorted out tho!!

Thank you for sharing the experience and the solution. Unfortunately, this defect cost me to change the part twice, and even though Audi added some modifications, it still malfunctions. I believe the cause is the use of a high-pressure water spray when it hits the edges of the part, which leads to water leaking inside it. Finally, I isolated the part with nail polish, as you did. Additionally, I applied silicone on the sides and everywhere around the box that holds the electronic board. After installing the part, I also added silicone to the sides.

Great, its a two minute job basically, but can save the part in the long run. I made a video on sealing the spoiler, you can check it out to see what to expect 🤗

Thank you very much !!! Very interesting !!! I am trying to “recover” my current light plate. I would like to replace smd led, do you know the references of these Led?

Thank you so much!! I am so glad you liked it!! In case you just subscribed you are 900th!’ 😍 There are two layers of clear plastic protecting the leds. I never removed the inner layer ( lens) to see the led :(

I have cleaned the corrosion but still not working, is there a fuse maybe I need to replace?
@audi_anatomy25 күн бұрын
Dont think so.. maybe the corrosion found its way under the small black “ chips” and something is damaged beyond repair :( Can you try to put 3v to diodes directly?

Help can i just take this light out only by 2 clips OR do I have to take apart the trunk cover and spoiler to get this light off ?
@audi_anatomy4 ай бұрын
just the two clips. but be very careful and pull slowly straight out of the boot. :D Good luck!!

Yup I’ve been hearing water slosh around in my rear hatch for the past few weeks. Then randomly one of my plate bulbs went out. I thought “aren’t they LED?” Then this video confirmed it was probably the water. The whole unit plus rear view camera is $300 OEM… absolutely wild
