No wonder my game tanked in Jr college. My coaches never taught anything close to this stuff. Now my son is into baseball and the knowledge sharing is amazing! Great job guys!

A bad hop and a Sunday hop are the same. The difference is your relationship to it. My old coach used to tell us, “choose the hop, don’t let the hop choose you”!

Key comment: "If you're just going to wait to field at practice, you're not going to be a good fielder." Too often people are afraid to tell kids they're not going to be good. Great info and honesty.

Perfect video to help explain how it's done. I always fielded this way but now coaching I could never explain how I'm doing what I'm showing my 10 year old kids. Now being able to explain how its done right is going to help tremendously. Thanks for the in depth videos fellas.

Definitely very informational. I myself have caught myself instead practicing a back step just giving space for forward motion. Now i have something new to practice and hopefully improve my game as a shortstop. Thanks for the video

Well like you said you have to read the hop because if it's a slow roller then your taught to charge the ball but it's easier said than done. See I played first base and if your a corner infielder you have to react very quickly

Yes, for sure. The only difference in my opinion is fast pitch is quicker than baseball … 70 ft bases vs 90 ft means the infielders need to get through the ball and throw very quickly.
@crash65812 жыл бұрын
Tip 1, get your body in front of the ball that way IF it falls out of your glove or you get a short hopped you misjudge, the ball will fall in front of you. Tip 2, learn to field with a ping pong paddle on your hand instead of a glove. It teaches you how to have soft hands. I'm amazed to find out the an intermediate hop is in between a short and long hop.

You know that dude is a phenomenal fielder with that tiny glove. he wants to feel the ball. that ball never gets past him I guarantee! That's all I had to see in this video to know he understands what he's talking about!

Parallax is the word you guys are looking for when recommending viewing the ball's trajectory from the side.
The ending was like the after credits of a Marvel movie. The best part! 🤣

Do you get to the left as a lefty?
@gavinb52492 жыл бұрын
This drill of coming around the ball is to get your momentum moving towards first as you are fielding it. You would still be moving to the right and curving toward first if you are lefty playing infield

One question, I'm still new to understanding glove sizes. I wonder why the gloves you're using are small compared to what I normally would see. I am a little familiar now about there are gloves for infield, outfield, certain bases. Are these for practice or are they normal?
@bobganoosh55202 жыл бұрын
Infielders typically have smaller gloves for quicker transfers. Can't have an infielder digging deep into the pocket trying to get the ball out.

It does, shift fingers in glove. Pointer in middle finger slot middle finger in ring spot and ring and pinky in pinky slot. Opens up hand for better catching and control. No finger in pointer finger slot.

No you fielders need to imitate Brooks Robbinson. Which is throwing hand behind the glove square your hips to the ball(ball would be going straight at you) glove between you and the ball move towards the ball. Trust me imitate brooks robbinson, gold glove winning player.
