Now our G87 M2 is ready for its first track day - which is coming up VERY soon! Stay tuned!

Going to follow this closely, Especially your approach to suspension. I currently have some Eibach springs to clean things up and hold me over, but this is my daily and starting next year quarterly track car haha. Currently running most of Verus Engineering aero parts, just need to pick up the front splitter and skirts.

We have our first track day with the car coming up in a few weeks and that will give us our baseline on the stock suspension. After that we'll dive right in and start playing with some suspension options so you'll definitely see some G87 suspension tech headed your way soon - be sure to subscribe if you haven't already so you don't miss any of it!

Does this work for cars with ACC? Can it be installed from the outside or with the ACC do I have to remove the bumper and install it from the back?

Looking forward to seeing what you guys do with this car! Zion

What about airflow? The car will tend to overheat due to restricted overflow with this mod.
@BimmerWorldMedia6 ай бұрын
Not a concern at all, the mesh is tight enough to keep debris out, but still plenty of open space to allow for airflow and cooling to be unchanged. Honestly cooling is not even a slight concern while adding these. Our racecars get an even tighter mesh applied to the front of the coolers for protection and they too have zero cooling issues.

@@BimmerWorldMedia I've seen lots of examples when people had issues due to the mesh installed on different cars. Maybe it's not a problem in this particular case, but it's still worth to keep it in mind.

@@freemanoid321 Appreciate the heads up, its absolutely not a concern with these grilles.

@@freemanoid321cars have oversized overengineered cooling system nowadays. So even if you are stationary (no wind) have the a/c on full blast and you are redlining/reving, the engine still wont overheat a bit. Not with mesh, not without.

In Australia, I saw a mesh was installed in the front face for a manual M2. But no mesh installed in the ZF automatic car so I can conclude the auto transmission oil needs more aggressive cooling. The air flows into the front face it passes through the front and bottom radiators simultaneously. I would put a protection mesh for the bottom only as two mesh means blocking the air flows twice.

That oil cooler is going to need a bit more protection...
@BimmerWorldMedia6 ай бұрын
This is plenty protection actually. Similar to your F8x its tucked well up out of the way so this is just to keep some rogue road debris from causing a puncture or cause damage to the fins. If you've really damaged this cooler than you have far bigger issues going on and usually considerable front end damage to worry about. No cover will fully bulletproof the coolers, but this certainly gives a decent layer of protection and some peace of mind.

Better than nothing, for sure, but I could run over a Miata with my Fall Line and be fine. ;)
@BimmerWorldMedia6 ай бұрын
They are certainly two different products. Yours is a skid plate that adds some strength (and weight) to an area that rarely sees a direct impact from something large while leaving large holes in the area where smaller debris can still reach the cooler fins. The Zunsport is a very simple, lightweight way to keep small debris from damaging/puncturing the cooler while leaving it tucked up and out of the way. The oil cooler's location is far higher than the lowest edge of the front bumper. That Miata you run over will take out the rest of the coolers in the nose on the way to your beefy skid plate. The skid plate idea sounds like a great idea on paper and coming from past BMWs that relied on skid plates to protect the OIL PAN because it WAS the lowest hanging item under the car it uses that same fear on a cooler that just is not in the same location at all. In the end its whatever helps you and your oil cooler sleep at night. We love this simple, lightweight option from Zunsport!

I still can’t get over how atrocious this car looks.

Eh, some hate it, some love it. We certainly are a fan and we are ready to really see how we can up the performance! And hey....can't see what it looks like from the driver's seat with a helmet on! :)
