You pay for your expenses until to a point where with luck, talent and money you could seal a deal with a team to drive for and even then motorsports are not fair and even. A lot. There's a reason the vast majority of racing drivers are rich (or at least well off). Firstly you need a car, and you either need to be a mechanic or pay for one, and you have to keep paying for the maintenance (new parts), tires aren't cheap, leasing a track is a few pennies, and hell even just the fuel is going to cost you quite a bit if you practice enough. Even just kart racing is going to be beyond what most people can afford unless you're willing to dedicate a large portion of your income for it, which your parents generally are not when you're still young. If you showcase raw talent and dedication, you can get sponsors to pay for all that. And there have been people who have managed it that way. But the problem for most of us is getting to the point where people are willing to invest in you. That said, lately (starting only a couple of years ago), sim racers started getting noticed by the pro scene too. Racing sims are getting very close to the real deal, and abilities absolutely does carry over (Pro drivers in all categories use sim rigs to practice between races nowadays). And best of all you can start out cheap at only a couple of hundred bucks. So if you don't have a lot of money, that's the way I'd go

I want to say good for her, and all the best to her. However, I do need to point out that this is one of the key issues with racing at high levels like F1. You need to start at an early age and have money, time and support behind you for it to work. I'm not saying she's not talented, but that many others don't have the same opportunity as she does. I wish her the best though.

@russotusso16955 жыл бұрын
Hamilton and Kimi didn't have a lot of money yet they are both champions. While you do need money to start if you have talent sponsors will want to work with you but more importantly teams will get interested to have you in young driver program. Racing required money but people make it out to be millions when it isn't. I have witnessed that myself when I watched 24h of le man's for motorbikes where my father's freind raced. Team is from Bosnia had like 100-200k to work with and yet did good. My father too raced on minimum budget for 7 years back in 90s and got few podiums in Yugoslavia. People who say you need millions to race arent trying hard enough and blame money on their lack of talent or lack of determination.

You can either win in the rich parent lottery or you need to start from somewhere to build up your dreams and future, play car games, show your parents the love for racing that you have, keep it going and do everything you can to learn it, watch it, play it, request to visit races. Parents will see it and then you can start talking about your interest to do it yourself, easiest way is to take you to a go cart races, theyre relatively cheap and its fun, then maybe buy you a moped or a cheap atv etc. etc. Its not impossible to achieve your dreams at a young age but you need a determitted mind for it, maybe you dont get to race a real race car at the age of 11 but i dont think that matters as much as you think. You still have your whole life ahead even when youre 15.

One question: Why her father is mainly described as F1 driver, if he entered only 3 races in the series during 20 years of racing career? He has more entries in the JGTC/Super GT, Indy Lights, Indy Racing League, International Formula 3000, or Japanes Formula 3000/Formula Nippon. And he entered LeMans 3 times.

That goes to show you that F1 is inevitably seen as the pinnacle of one's motorsport career, even if you were just one of the also-rans. No matter the great things you do before or after, F1 is as high as you can get, and just making it separates a lucky few from the rest.
