Great Big Story

4 жыл бұрын

Lots of kids paint. But 12-year-old Aelita Andre is an established artist known for her abstract paintings inspired by everything from nature to music. Andre, who is from Melbourne, Australia, was just 2 years old when she had her first gallery exhibit. Since then, the painter’s work has been exhibited in cities around the world, including London, Hong Kong and New York City. She has sold paintings for as much as $30,000. Some people have called her a young Jackson Pollock. But Andre isn’t interested in being compared to other artists. She creating her own style.

There are so many fantastic artists out there which go unnoticed, despite having some breathtaking paintings that takes countless hours, which are creative and innovative. I really wish those artists one day could get the same amount of attention as this young girl has. They deserve so much more :(

@@Robocop-qe7le But that's all abstract art is meant to do. Invoke meaning. If you take the sole purpose away from anything then ofc you're left with a pile of crap. There are two types of art, one that's commercial and one that's meaningful. Neither is better or worse than the other, it's just types like genres of movies. Commercial art is art that people buy as Christmas cards etc, meaningful art end up in museums and art critics take a look at them. If you don't like abstract art that's one thing but don't hate on the kid. But I do agree about the talent being hard work comment.

Every fucking artist ever. She's no different. Tout les mêmes. I don't get why she has her own gallery. Sure, I'm happy for her, mais je ne comprends pas why she's so rich and famous just for splashed colours that somehow morph into an image of something deep in a 40 year old man's mind. As an aspiring animator for Sony, this really makes me mad. If everyone in my art school put their pieces in a gallery, we could pay for college.

I'm 12. You need to look at it threw 12-year-olds eyes. No. 4-year-olds eyes. She has somehow been able to keep the imagination that she had as a very young child. The thing is, her paintings mean a lot more than just some paint thrown on a canvas. Paintings she has created give me motivation. It inspires me to become a better person. In her paintings, I can see rivers, and fires working together. That is just one example. You have to think. Do water and Fire typically get along? No. But in her universe, they do. Every child has a universe. They may outgrow it. For me, it is taking a long time. As well as her. And that is a good thing. But, in her universe, everyone gets along. I'm sure that is for most children's universes. (Don't hide the world from young children, they are very good at eavesdropping and know probably know more than you think.) I can see why you think it is just paint splashed on a canvas, but you have to look closer, through a young child's eyes. Look at everything through a child's eyes. What do you see? The world as it is? or do you see a magical world? I hope you see a magical world. Pass this along, please. Especially young children. They will outgrow it, and when they do, it's too late.

if children from poor families had unlimited access to as much paint as this girl has, then many artists would be born. I did not have such a good start in life, proper care and interest. I have a talent for painting, however, I was doomed to use what I had. the cheapest paints, crayons, anything. Today I am 31 years old and I am proud that I have persevered and that I create art on my own terms and that I have my own unique style (not splashing). I'm not known, popular. But I have incredible knowledge and empathy which I gained from my hard childhood. I wish all children from difficult homes who take care of themselves and their talent. I disagree. Anyone could give some bullshit about the meaning or feeling about a ahem.. 'piece'. Symbols and flags for example are not art in the sense usually referred. If they were called as such that would be just as bad. They hold their own purposes. Splattering paint may look good on a wall, but that's about it. As for 'Abstract Art' that should be about 'Simplified shapes and figures' to represent something alternatively you can have a kewl symmetry/asymmetry going on but I'm pretty sure that's something else.

guys, there is no point in being bitter. if your goal is fame, take marketing, sales and management classes, not art classes. art is what you put out there, not what you yourself or other people see. if you put a lifes dedication into perfecting something, but a childs painting is trumping you, that might be because people, you yoursef and so many wish to be as free in what we do as this girl is. and that is a spirit of time and context. if you chose the struggle for perfection to be your sacrifice, you should own it, despite the attention that is given to you.

I can’t take her seriously. In my humble opinion I think that any serious artist must study art history and artworks and learn foundational skills and knowledge wether it may be self-taught or university taught. Only then when you know what was, are, and can be art, is when the Artist, can make deconstructed, or expressionist, or dadaist art that is VALID as fine arts and has value to me personally, and should be considered as such by the masses and the art world to have intrinsic value and translate to monetary and historical significance. Considering aforementioned, the “art” this 12 year old person is making is nothing more than doodles of a privileged child whose parents are able to provide her expensive archival quality materials such as a workspace, canvas, paints, brushes, etc.. that VALID artist use to make fine art.

I understand everyone's perspective of other children who may have more skill and talent than her who deserve the recognition, but we all have our own paths and wherever that leads us, is part of our journey and becomes our story. Everything is in flow and the design is all perfect. How beautiful it is for her parents to encourage her daughters dream, so many parents do the complete opposite. This is how children become emotionally intelligent and become the movement we need in this world to make positive changes. The fact that anyone can criticize this, should tell you so much of what has happened to you in your life and where your mind directly goes to.

Modern art world is really confusing for me. A girl basically splashing paint all over a cavas gets recognition but a artist who has perfected their paintings and drawings for years only get the recognition if they hit a lottery. I looked into her channel, she has synthesisa or some condition that turns music into a form in her brain or something. so basically more than hard work it’s more of talent. Also half her life and art is controlled by her parents.

It pains to see this because I have seen 12 years olds do much more than splash paint across the canvas, all Abstracts need a meaning. It good she is famous but is it for the right thing, saying that she wants to be known for her style, but I have seen a million of paintings the same way. I really feel bad for the people out there who spend years perfecting their art. I am sorry not intending to offend, but it looks like she just drops paints and then says something and then people go like oh yea I can see it. Why am I sacrificing my sanity and time and sleep and everything in a design course while this kid is out here throwing around paint and being heralded and glorified as a goddamn prodigy. Things in this world make absolutely no sense and this is absurd and ridiculous. Like if you wanna treat her like she's doing something great out here with her "abstract" act, sure be my guest but then you're being hypocritical if someone else with no "status" does the same and gets criticised for making a mess or wasting paint or that they're just throwing some paint on a canvas. Like I'm sorry but this was so maddening that I had to come here from the ad I saw it on to leave a comment about it. It's just complete insanity. It gives me brain aneurysms trying to even accept it. This is such bull crap and we all know it. Edit: forgot to mention her slaughter of violins for her little load blowing "art works". Please, those things were meant to be used to create something actually beautiful and that actually requires actual skill and/or talent. So don't waste them like that. Edit 2: I'm not a violinist like some of the people in the replies here are, but I am a percussionist, so I do relate in some sense too. The absurdity of watching painstakingly crafted works that were meant to create the art of music, (an actual art, too) be Frankensteined into such abominations. This is all truly a spit in the face to artists and violinists/musicians that actually invest time and effort and money into perfecting their art because we are held to some level of standards at least.

I'm not against modern art in general, but this isn't art. That's a waste of paint. I've been holding art classes for mentally impaired people and they are creating way better pieces. Seriously. I think we are all in agreement this child's art success has been manufactured by her well connected and affluent parents. I don't question her talent. There are thousands of very talented artistic children but only one who have parents motivated to ensure their daughters success in the art world. And frankly when dealing in contemporary art, it has a lot to do with who you know and what they are willing to pay for the art. It makes me think maybe regular artist should promote their art as the work of a child and maybe they will get more media pick-up from it!
