Today, I made a little road trip to my closest Korean market to get some cheongyang gochugaru, since it was the only thing I was missing for this, got home, and set to work on making it. I even picked up a bottle of Sprite so I could follow along as closely as possible. I'll be honest, it took me almost an hour to make it all from start to finish. It's not exactly simple for a westerner when you can't rely on a giant scoop of gochujang to do all the heavy lifting, like I often do. But damn, the results were spectacular. I think I'm going to pre-prep some of the sauce, and the dressing for the cucumbers/onions, and keep it in refrigerated jars, so I really can make this quickly on week nights. I could easily see myself eating this more than once a week. It's a real kick in the taste buds, and a deeply satisfying meal. Oh, and cheers from Canada, eh!

I made this with a 16 Oz package of firm tofu (cut into cubes) that I baked and Quorn Meatless Pieces. The sauce was really spicy so I only used half and mixed it with 1 cup of broth. It worked well!👍 It was a little less glossy and coated, but the spice level was way more manageable. 😄 The cucumber salad was very yummy with it. 😋

I made this for dinner for me and my partner…..we loved it. It wasn’t too spicy and had a nice refreshing sweetness to it. Instead of adding mirin and sprite I used a sachet of the fire chicken noodle sauce from the Samyung packet. I also put a poached egg on top. It was super delicious. Thank you for the recipe ☺️😋

This was DELICIOUS and definitely lived up to its name. That said, my husband doesn't appreciate spicy food like I do so I made the following adjustments: 3 tablespoons Korean chili flakes 1 tablespoon super spicy Korean chili flakes It was still spicy but not set your face on fire spicy and just shy of too spicy for my husband. I'm glad a switched it up.
